Looks to me that they absolutely spunked the Gyokeres & Hamer money on bang average players and are letting the manager take the fall.

His terrible starts every year must be annoying though.

Really harsh decision. I’ve a lot of time for Coventry and Robins was a total class act in my view across many battles along our journeys together with them through the leagues to ultimately the playoff final.

I suspect there is stuff going on behind the scenes because his long time assistant left in the summer.

Think they do have the makings of a good side to be honest, maybe haven’t been able to have the form yet but he has a track record of getting that side to work for him eventually. They played really well against us, should never have been 2-0 down which was a complete fluke, decent win at Boro at the weekend. Sure last night was disappointing result to be sure, but they were starting to look a lot better. Derby scored twice off 3 shots, those games happen in the championship

Are you on the #EdwardsOut side of things then Ken?
Forgive me I meant to respond to this a few days ago and don’t wish to sound like a Sunday morning quarterback in light of yesterday’s events.

I think I’ve been pretty consistent for a month or so now that his race has run unfortunately. I’m gutted about it, but let’s face it, it’s a mess on the pitch but even before we started playing competitive matches, the pre-season for the second consecutive year was unimpressive. They were underprepared when Burnley came to town on the first game of the season.

I don’t like it generally when fans become incredibly fickle and want managers gone straight away. We haven’t been that way as a club. Since John Still left in January 2016 we’ve only sacked 1 manager. I like to think we’re a fairly patient fan base and our board of directors equally so. There was a period where we were changing managers once a year in non league but I think they quickly saw that it wasn’t the way to go.

There has been a pattern for some time. That’s what gets managers deservedly sacked. When results have been consistently poor for some time. I don’t know the exact stats but Edwards has about a 75% defeat record since Feb 1st. That’s simply inexplicable. And yet the style of play doesn’t change.

In fact, since WBA I think it’s got decidedly worse. Yes we were picking up points, but the Watford game is the only match this season where the team has played to it’s potential.

Mitigation is injury. We’ve had many, particularly in defence. But there are surely underlying trends as to why that is. Is it the S&C coaching, lack of toughness from players or just the training levels generally? There was a very odd statement in midweek about Shandon Baptiste which said something along the lines of him only having 100 pro games under his belt by age 26 and getting consistent matches under him. He is not a cheap signing yet take that risk!

We have got a slightly aging squad too which means some players have regressed from where they were a year ago.

Personally I think the biggest factor is the losing mentality. These players are not bad. They’ve just forgotten how to win. I think a refresh and a reset will be a trigger to turn it around.

This is why I believe Rob Edwards should leave the club tomorrow morning.

Think thats a very fair assessment of it. I think i would still give it a bit longer but im not going to vehemently disagree with people who want him to go now.

I do feel for him though, the squad has been badly mismanaged in my view and i would love to know how thats happened - maybe thats Edwards fault too as he wanted these players but theres certainly a lot of culpability to go around. You could go to every area of the pitch and highlight multiple issues with the recruitment & squad management.

We will never know I guess but the night and day difference between the success of the recruitment under Jones and under Edwards is obvious.

Frank Lampard on the of the favourites to replace Robins at Coventry.

Sacking a club legend to replace him with a manager who has at best been very average, not great. Even the Derby side where he was regarded as having done a good job on reflection doesn’t look as good given who was in that side - Mason Mount, Harry Wilson, Tomori.

Average is being extremely kind to Lampard.

It would be a fucking woeful appointment.

Lampard to Coventry? - not sure if that will be a popular appointment with their fans.

They were unlucky not to beat us imo, certainly played an interesting style but ultimately you need results and he’s not got them. Really no idea why they got rid of Rosenior.
