Enjoyed my day out in Welling yesterday despite the football on offer, and for those who watched the game on TV, that wasn't Tranmere's worst performance of the season either. The baldy lino changed the result, never a sending off and up until that decision I thought Tranmere were the most likely to score the next goal.
This was the first Tranmere game I can remember since 1981 that had no segregation, was great changing ends of the ground at half time. Welling United and their fans were very hospitable and are a credit to this league.

Big win for us in terms of kick starting our season. Much better performance and deserved winners.

Good to see Dennis hitting the net..

Do you like endless fast food chicken shops then?

No! Lol. Too early for that.
But what was handy after arriving in Welling at 09:33 and having an excellent full English breakfast in one of the many greasy spoons on Welling high street. Set me up for a very long day on the ale. Only managed four pints before kick off which was a shame because the game itself required a higher alcohol intake than that.

And buses. Is there a bus station behind that stand or something?

The best thing about Welling is that massive concrete wall behind the other goal. Has anyone ever badly hurt themselves on it?

I remember on Boxing Day 2012, we were 14 points behind whoever was top, it was either Grimsby or Wrexham, or both. We'd had a truly woeful 5 months and looked a bang average Conference side having one of those relentless bleak monotonous Conference seasons that we've all suffered. Tenth in the table, calls for the managers head for financial mismanagement and tepid displays; mid-table beckoning.

*Just to note after 8 games we'd won 4, lost 4, and in previous seasons teams pretty much won the league only losing perhaps 7 or 8 games, so the title was gone in our eyes.

On January 12 2013 we lost to Kidderminster at home and completed our first 23 games on 35 pts.
Then pretty much from out of nowhere suddenly everything clicked. Our last 23 games of the season was - Pld: 23, W: 20, D: 0, L: 3, Pts: 60.

Before January we never looked anything like championship material and although it took a monster run of results and a shift in form, it can be done. Don't give up in September.
Good luck to all of you.
It was us, we beat Wrexham to go above them, then did Lincoln on Boxing Day.
Then suddenly the wheels fell off! :ffs:

Can think of worse train journeys, those Virgin Pendolinos on the west coast main line make the journey in no time at all. I did have a ticket by the way, I'm not one of them scousers who hides underneath the seat when ever the guard comes around. That would make holding onto your piss difficult.

Ah the season of the inexorable March of Mansfield and Kiddie.

We had a good first half of the season. Then somewhat limped into fifth. We did Kiddie over the two legged play off though. We won't mention the final and those ****s from south Wales.

Anybody who wants a point or 3 just hit the ball high into our box we can't defend anything in the air and it will be our downfall
Same with us you scored the same way against us yesterday, ironic is it? We scored with a header but cant defend against them.

Our season fell apart when Neilson fucked off to Luton at Christmas, beat Lincoln without him but then just went shite for a couple of months including back to back defeats to Kiddie and Mansfield. Then going into the play-offs we hit great form before deciding to let Newport piss into the final with 2 abject displays for 90 mins.
I was embarrassed watching the 2nd leg we were so awful that day. :ffs:

We had lost only 6 out of the first 38 games that season then had a meltdown and fell away. I remember the Mansfield match in the run-in, was an electric atmosphere and they had won something like 10 in a row until they came to fortress Racecourse. Thought they'd collapse after the defeat...

I'm starting to think that season was all a dream.

Yesterday was awful. We set up to sit back at home to Braintree. Rowe-Turner has been shocking the last couple of weeks. Joe Clarke hasn't been much better. Whild took our top scorer off just after half time to throw on another winger and we resorted to hoofing it up to Styche. I like Styche, but there's no way he can play that role against decent defenders. I'm beginning to come round to the way of thinking a lot of Harriers fans are and think that it might be time for Whild to go. He had a lot of support from fans after the Andy Thorn debacle, and steadied the ship for a while, but now his tactics and substitutions seem crazy at times. He can take Creighton with him. A lot of energy, but just passes the blame to everyone else.

Enjoyed the day out at Boreham Wood. We didn't really get out of 2nd gear to be honest but had more than enough to beat a poor Boreham Wood team. How the hell they won at Tranmere I'll never know.

Friendly locals in the pubs beforehand too and special mention to the bouncers on the door at the nearby Wetherspoons who allowed 30 or so rowdy "full kit wankers" on a birthday do into the pub. Also the stewards at the game were sensible when some of them decided to have a kickabout on the pitch at half time and joined in with the banter in the 2nd half. Another great turnout by our fans too, especially as we hadn't won for 4 games outnumbering the home fans with 734 Mariners in a gate of 1293.

Didn't know John Terry was a Grimsby fan?

And I didn't realise that Danny Welbeck, Martin Allen and Vicky Pollard were all Boreham Wood stewards, but they all joined in with the banter during the 2nd half. I don't think Vicky was too pleased though. :bg:

If I remember right didn't you hammer Newport for most of that final as well?
They were definately the worst of the 4 teams in the play-offs that year but somehow went up.

Forest Green Rugby Club brought about 76 to 82 fans given mine and a friends head count.

Very surprised we matched them for long periods and felt hard done by losing too them. Very well taken last goal but they could have and maybe should have been playing with ten men. Can tell we did well when FGR are playing the clock down.

Good side when they start playing though.

An honest Chester fan?? Wow it's going to snow tomorrow! Must be the only sensible talking fan they have!

Guthrie, Pipe(bald right back) and Parkin are P*icks though, argued every decision and were 'in my opinion horrible'.

Midfielder with the beard and long hair was good, your black centre back was particular dominant and your left midfielder/winger was good in patches.

After our performance, I now expect to get something out of the Tranny (the team, not a man in woman's clothes) Game.

Midfielder is Rob Sinclair, brother of Stuart who plays for the Gas, possibly our most skilful player and one who we missed towards the end of last season when he was injured. Centre back is Dale Bennett, who was played in that position to cover for injuries but has performed so well that it would seem reckless to return him to the right side of defence. Winger is Elliott Frear and you sum him up perfectly, he is a bit of an enigma, can play blindingly well in some games but be totally anonymous in others. However, in his defence, he is far more on than off this season and is probably the best crosser of the ball in the squad.

Hahaha, got bored of my job in England and decided to up sticks and move here to teach English. Was initially only supposed to be a year or two, but meeting a girl and switching jobs here has extended that into a third and now a fourth year. Looking at coming back to England next year maybe. Whereabouts in Seoul was your apartment? Gwangmyeong is on the Seoul Metro, essentially a connected satellite city of Seoul.

We were in Mapo - between Mapo and Gongdeok on the purple subway line. That was 2006-2008. Haven't been back since then, I thought Gwangmyeong was near Busan - that's what came up on Apple maps!

Sorry for going off-topic everybody! :ohn:

Can I take a minute to mention how much I love Dale Bennett?
Are you adopting Forest Green as your 2nd team?
He was very impressive on the opening day against Alty, I thought Racine was even better but Forest Green reporter from the local paper gave Bennett the MOM.
