Not getting the 'resource not found' message now when going to TFF.net. Some random light blue page called 1-2-3Reg, with a search option that doesn't work. It's definitely gone for good. Couldn't care less after the goings on of the last 24hrs, and the fact we're all in the process of making this place our home, with more transparency and a brilliant sense of togetherness, with everyone pulling in the same direction. Once again, a huge, huge thanks to TB and Saddlerad for making all this so seamless and possible.

That's because you're typing 'tff.net'.

Still 404 from what I can see.

It's not Jockers. Have used the hotlink off my phone to it and typed in Thefootballforum.net.

TFF's domain expires on 14th May. I would imagine that if the site has been pulled out of spite, the domain would be renewed simply to avoid it being picked up by anyone else and diverting it to here.

If it's gone and admin are completely indifferent, maybe it'll lapse (don't believe it will tho).

You cant have the former AND the latter though. They dont sit together at all.

You can. You can pass the mantle to members who want the responsibility and have the means to make it work.

Alternatively, you can give people enough time to organise a different project.

99% of TFF wanted to keep it alive. 1% didn't. I feel like I am repeating myself here, but the board was bigger than Tom, LF or any one individual.

Give it 24hrs and dns will be replicated around, you'll all see the same thing by then.

Of course it was.

Ungrateful?
That's telling isn't it?
Just wanted to be loved.
Didn't get the love they thought they deserved.
So they shut down the forum. Which is their prerogative, of course.

The way I read it is - they were hurt that rather than try and convince them to change their minds the posters instead made alternative arrangements.

Why wouldn't we?? They made it pretty damn clear to me, that whatever our thoughts on the matter, they were closing the site down regardless. They wanted to leave a legacy of greatness, yet have been made to look like a set of mard-arses who have left not a legacy, but nothing more than a bitter taste in everyone's mouth. Wrongly (IMO) banning Smatthew and Carel et al and the shoutbox saga, just gave them the perfect opportunity for them to shift the blame elsewhere, instead of straight up saying 'guys, we've just had enough'

It's whats known as a holding page - if you register a domain with any registrar but don't point the DNS to a server it will point to a holding page. It generates residual income for the registrar, and sometimes, the owners of the domain. All this means is that they've pointed the domain back to their registrars nameservers.

On another note - I think it's best for all parties, if we somewhat let the situation and dust settle and keep any speculation away from here now. I understand people are angry, frustrated and so on but if we focus on what happens from this point on then we can only control what is in our hands to do so. If TFF comes back and we have until April to say our goodbyes then brillant - won't it be fantastic to be able to do that and then have this place to fall onto at that time - if not, then we've had a big rally round to at least try and build from 'ground zero' again..

Squabbling and annoying each other here won't benefit any of us down the line...fresh start and all that!

Otherwise, continue :P

I was only on TFF for the past year, and only really posted in the Championship forum which seems to be one of the areas of the site with the least transfered over thus far, so if anyone knows anyone would be nice.

Used to be a lot of Wolves fans and don't think i've seen any yet. Was a couple of Reading fans too (Ascot, Southbank and one other I think) who I couldn't find on the Reading fansite.

I am here Madejski mate.I am on Hob Nob but i don't post on there much.I was Ascot Royal.

A bit late for that. What will really help the new forum is if we stop clinging to this fantasy notion that Tom, et al, might reopen the boards so we can have a fond farewell, or some other such nonsense. Even if he did, why would anyone want to go back?

Almost everyone is here now. TFF isn't anything more than a dried-out husk at this point.

Big thanks to Chris & TractorBoys for their effort in getting this place together, and everyone for their efforts to get the community back. I was on TFF for nearly 10 years, really enjoyed the vast majority of that time and I'm glad that we are able to get this fresh start.

So "a few ungrateful twats" means that they thought that members didnt make the forum? Fair enough, youre entitled to your opinion.

Incidentally, I have no idea whose twitter account that is.

That's from TomF. We all know how much he put into running the site, but he seemed to have a bit of a self-inflated view of himself towards the end. The banning of some of the board's best ever posters was just downright bizarre, and it's not been enjoyable to post on there in months.

Is the weird Swansea fan here? The Cardiff fans? Bluebirds Boyo? The other one I can't recall?

I've seen ma92sn28s9a9ansb so we can keep chatting about the A329(M) in coming weeks, which is nice.
I've sent a fb message to Squeak, as he was the only other TFF I had on facebook who isn't here.

I live near the Bracknell end of the A329(M) Count me in for some chatting about that damn road.
