One of those games the effort is clearly there just not quite the quality when needed.

The two most toothless looking sides we’ve played Salford and Tranmere so the game tonight doesn’t surprise me.

Two very mid table sides as it stands.

No way that’s true.
We may not be the most passionate or noisy supporters, but you’d have to be a bit mad to try the paddock for fun.
Stoke have never.
One Man City fan tried in 1990, fair play to him he stood his ground, on his own.
Swindon.
Behave.
The Swindon lot on here are sound btw , and the beef will soon blow over I’m sure.
We had relative beef with Oxford in the 90’s, and I never understood why.
Vale tweeted it today, hence stopping sales to new accounts. Even some in the hospitality have been attempted it states. Weird one. Notice no pay on the day for Swindon fans either which is strange unless that’s changed.

Seems they are blocking the railway path to keep it segregated anyway.

The Carlisle signings are good but not stand out at this level, they invested mostly in very good League Two players last winter but their form didn't improve so have to shake off the losing mentality thats probably hung around them more than us for example who made 13-14 signings.

Wyke and Jones are top end L1 standard players at best and we did beat L1 clubs to their signatures in the summer.

They're better than anyone you have in attack.

It does make you realise, watching a lot more of these league 2 games, how poor the standard is at this level. Our game against Accrington involved a lot of balls in the air and this game tonight, there's zero pattern, a lot of it is just hit and hope.

These two look particularly poor in attacking areas. Really lacking any threat.
Yeah it's basic isn't it really , we are trying to keep it on the floor with Artell-ball but it just became a mess against Bromley really and we got drawn into long spells of league 2 ball or whatever you want to call it . It's tough to justify £25 quid a go in the main ; we all have an expensive non rewarding hobby down here

Doncaster (A) for us today. Sold out away end and I’ve heard the home end has been selling well too so should be a decent crowd & atmosphere you’d think. Heading up on train later on this morning. Anyone who’s been Donny before on train / any rovers fans on here, what’s best way to get from station to the ground? Previous trips to Doncaster I’ve gone in the car so not sure on best route in from station, is it walking distance?

Team news wise we’re getting stronger every week on the injury front after the mini crisis we had at start of the season. Madden & Colclough both featured in last weeks games so will be available. As will Fleck, who made the bench but didn’t get on last week. The big doubt was Grigg who looked to have done his ankle quite badly a couple of weeks ago at Port Vale, but thankfully Cook has confirmed he’s available today so wasn’t anything serious.

Predicted XI & bench:

Boot
Tanton Dunkley Naylor Gordon
Oldaker Fleck
Markanday Dobra Berry
Madden

Thompson (GK)
Araujo
Banks
Mandeville
Jacobs
Colclough
Grigg

I think it’s a toss up between Madden & Grigg for who starts, but considering Grigg missed last game I reckon Madden gets the nod. Have a feeling Cook’s going to throw Fleck in today… he’s been patient with him since he signed, but i think Cook will want his experience in there sooner rather than later. Colclough looked as sharp as ever when he came on last weekend (IMO our best player btw), but he’s barely played any football since January after an ankle injury he picked up from a horror tackle against Gateshead, plus Berry has been too good this season to drop straight out so expect him to keep his place. What a sub to be able to make though.

Another really tough away game for us this. We’ve already been to last years play off finalists Crewe, and much fancied Gillingham & Vale, and now this one. Deserved 6 points out of those 3 but unfortunately only have 3 pts, so hoping we can turn it on today but fully appreciate it doesn’t get much more difficult than Doncaster away in this league so would take a point if offered it now.

It’s about a 20 minute walk from the station. No pubs on route so you will need to be in town before hand if you want beer before the stadium

It’s definitely your best option to walk but leave plenty of time and it’s even longer on the way back when SYP inevitably make you walk the long way back to the station

Imagine we will come unstuck both here and at Doncaster on Tuesday. Today is a good game (considering league positions at this early stage) for getting back to the swing of the league after an 'experience' outing in midweek but we are in the midst of three away trips, the first two of which are at the other end of the country. It'll take its toll both mentally and physically.

2 or 3 nil Gillingham. I would love to be proven wrong come 5 o clock of course!

What's gone wrong so far? Fancied you to do well this season.

Hope you smash Salford tonight.
Injuries, poor recruitment generally, including an inability to bring in someone capable of doing like the Robbie Apter role and Adkins keeping players who are out of form in the starting xi.

A lot will depend on who wins the takeover battle. Until then, the primary aim is staying in the FL, if we are in mid-table+, maybe some investment in January could change things.

I don't disagree with any of the comments about how dire our game with Salford was. Maybe the most interesting thing about the game was the fight amongst Salford fans, which caused the game to be stopped for around 5 minutes. Not seen much reported about that, one of our forums suggests a fight and someone taken to hospital, possibly knife involved. Troubling if correct.

Honestly don’t believe we pick up anything less than a draw today. Agree about being glad to get these two away games out the way early though.

If it was amongst Salford fans, it obviously wasn't a mass brawl.

Why did Salford get to be proper live on Sky again?

They were on live against MK Dons just a couple of weeks ago.

I hope this season isn't going to be a Salford wank fest. They've got no fans and are just totally average.
