You can really tell that Barrow haven't been in this position for a while.

This league has a habit of smashing you in the spuds when it hurts the most.

I don't care. I've got my holidays booked for an away day at Annan Athletic in the Teacake Trophy next year.

Yep, saw the piece on the news earlier - introduced it by saying Barrow are "on the verge of a return to the football league". There didn't seem to be any need for the piece at all.
At least we all know now what Chipmunx does for a living.

We're even the best at getting exaggerated news items.

Save it for April if it happens.

Interesting news from Sutton today. It’s been a tough ride for Tommy ever since he did his ACL at Orient last season. Just hoping he can get help he needs, and that he can be a positive example for others
Always a tough issue for footballers to deal with candidly but we have seen quite a few do so in recent times and it’s really helped remove the stigma of mental illness and unothered it.

Well that's our already miniscule promotion hopes dashed. Rhys Murphy out for the rest of the season.

i wonder if there's any chance that Coronavirus will mean the season will be cancelled & Barrow won't win the league? :)

All the major sporting events - Six Nations, Euro 2020, Barrow v Stockport County - are in real danger

They'll need to fill one of the missing places in the EFL and it will be taken by the winner of the Coronavirus Cup.

Not sure which thread to put this in so i'll stick it here.

We released our accounts for the year to the end of June 2019 yesterday. A loss of £670K plus money owed to creditors went up £400k to over £1m.

Not a huge surprise given the season we had.

We lost a solid £2.8m. Accounts have also been qualified as £1.5m of revenue couldn’t be accounted for.

Absolute shit show, but all pre-takeover so to be expected.

Hi everyone. I hope you're all well. I'm hoping that you'd be able to potentially help to either share or contribute to a fundraising appeal that has been set up by Leamington FC. Having recently made his 400th appearance for Leamington, James Mace has had the devastating news that he has ruptured his Medial and Anterior Cruciate Ligaments (ACL). James works as a tree surgeon and his injury has meant he cannot work. His insurance company will pay a small sum each month, but not enough to sustain his young family and there would be no contribution to surgery costs. Would be very much appreciated if you could help in any way. https://www.gofundme.com/f/james-mace-acl-reconstruction

Looks like the National League have managed to delay making a decision for another day.

National League play-off proposals, further details emerging:
to be scheduled between Saturday July 18th and Friday July 31st;
all matches to be broadcast live by BT Sports;
eligible clubs may decline to participate without fear of sanction for failure to fulfill a fixture.

The last part is good as I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't take part. We just can't afford it and we would only have 6 contracted players at that point anyway. I doubt we'd be able to afford short-term contract extensions.

Does that mean we would get a bye?

Seeing as our chairman is 915th in the Sunday Times Rich List, and this our final season of parachute payments, think we’re a shoe-in to compete if this all goes as expected...

I presume so. Our Chairman and his co-owner haven't actually put any money into the club since taking over, we've need a crowdfunder to keep us going.

We would not get a bye if Yeovil pull out, that would go to Boreham Wood as 5th placed team and we would go to Halifax in the first round and then to Harrogate instead of Notts if we won that.

Obviously i'm hoping that somehow we find a way to continue in the play offs. It's a gamble financially for most clubs but it's a great opportunity to get back into the EFL.

I’d be very surprised if you didn’t compete. If you really are as skint as your chairman makes out then you should be going part-time.

Also, surely we would replace you rather than a team getting a bye?

No unfortunately not, the rules state no team lower than 7th can compete in the playoffs.

Last year in the NL South, Chelmsford got a bye when Concord were barred from competing.

I mean technically we did actually finish 7th

That seems stupid in normal times but all rules are pretty much out of the window,. However, I’ve no doubt the idiots at the National League will think a bye is more appropriate.

Our Chairman has said this morning the club remain "positive" towards taking part in the play-offs despite the huge cost. Just me catastrophising then. Also confirmed the £38k raised from the crowdfunder so far will go 100% towards paying wages and bills

I’m guessing if you don’t go up you will have to reduce your budget without the parachute payments?

are parachute payments still like this?;-

At an EGM earlier today, Football League clubs voted to increase the parachute payments made to clubs relegated to the National League from the beginning of the 2016/17 season.

The two clubs relegated from Sky Bet League 2 currently receive 50% of the equivalent Basic Award payment to League 2 clubs for one season, but from next season onwards will be paid:

- 100% of the equivalent Basic Award payment made to League 2 clubs in the first year following relegation.
- 50% of the equivalent Basic Award payment made to League 2 clubs in the second year following relegation (unless a club achieves promotion back to The Football League at the first attempt).

Even moreso, yes. The new owners are lightyears ahead of the previous ones at PR and keeping the fans on board, however i'm concerned that it looks like the capital to purchase the club was secured from MSP who are a short term finance group - would have thought the type of people who would insist on receiving mortgage payments during lockdown (but who knows?)
