No surprise when your budget is mid table NL South.

This season will be our toughest so far at this level having lost Clifton and with a stronger division this year, and we will have a real fight to stay up unless we can make some quality signings, however barring a takeover at Gateshead I will be shocked if we finish below them.
Do you know if we can get rid of Ryan Bird or is he on another year?
Need him off the wage bill to get someone decent to replace Clifton.

Us at 20/1 is a great price knowing the yanks want to ensure we go up this year.

I did have some money on Orient - in a season acca - £1 to win £9K
Man City
WBA
Sunderland
Lincoln
Orient
Celtic

not too bad tbh. probably the closest i've been

I'm annoyed with myself as I could've cashed out for £390 in January with this: Liverpool / Leeds / Sunderland/ Lincoln / Orient. £1 won £24k

I decided to stick it out thinking it'd hit £1k, then Leeds and Sunderland has their collapses through Feb and I ended up cashing it in for £12...

I don't know his contract length but I know we tried to get Slough to take him in around February time but he wanted too much money from them.

Thought I'd read somewhere that Lynch was off. Surely it's time for Rowe to play in the football league too. Get rid of them two and they'd be a midtable side I'd guess

Completely agree

I believe you're currently on stage 5 of the Grief table, Depression, we've all been here (well ex EFL clubs that is), not to fear though because good times are just around the corner my friend, stage 6 is the Testing stage, you will seek out realistic and rational solutions, "Actually, with a few astute signings, we might do okay, X, Y and Z should be more than good enough down here, it'll be good to see us win some games for a change hohoho!"

Stage 7 is your Acceptance stage, you're ready to give this National League a ruddy thrashing, it is what it is and you're here now, just gotta make the best of a bad situation, you've signed what looks like some experienced non league pro's and maybe even a few talented youth prospects from the leagues above, "they are going to run rings around these overweight smelly part timers no problem, we might even win the FAT Trophy just for a laugh! hohoho"

Opening game of the season, Yeovil 0 - 3 Boreham Wood

We've started to get some fans saying we shouldn't bang on about when we beat Forest in a play off or when we were in The Championship and that we should let the past die. I think a little nostalgia is ok as long as don't dwell on it too much and get on with the present.

If nothing else it winds up Joseph Smith

Two departures from Edgeley Park today - one is Scott Duxbury, first choice left back who hasn't signed new terms; the other is winger Darren Stephenson who's been let go.

It's a shame to lose either of them, very talented players each. There's been rumours of League interest in Duxbury for ages and tbf he went off the boil a few months ago. Stephenson is undoubtedly quality on his day, just a shame it takes him until January to wake up, as he's shown last two seasons.

Had right-back/centre-half Dan Cowan renew his deal today, two others due to be announced - hopefully Ash Palmer is one of them, then I'll be happy no matter what.

Turns out that Duxbury has decided to join Fyddle-de-dee instead. No complaints from me, more than 200 games for us, he doesn't owe us anything and we don't owe him anything, so best of luck to him (some County fans won't see it that way though)

At least Palmer's signed up

Saw somewhere that we were linked with Jerome Binnom Williams. What's he like Chesterfield fans?

Notts County, Havant and probably Ashton Utd in NLN would get reprieves - the 4th bottom in NLS will already be saved by Gateshead's situation... but all dependant on when they were to go bust - if indeed they do.

Yep, L1 will run with 23 teams.

12.2.3
during the period between the conclusion of the last Play-Off Match and the start of the following Season, its playing record shall not be expunged but the number of relegation places from the Division in which a Club would have played but for its cessation of membership, shall be reduced by the number of Clubs ceasing to be members and, during that Season, the relevant Division shall operate with a reduced number of Clubs.

Slight update from the club:

“Over the last two weeks we have reduced the numerous parties expressing an interest down to a shortlist and a decision on which one to adopt will be made over the next few days”.

So no new owner for at least another month or two.

“We are very aware of the need to appoint a manager as soon as possible and we have spoken to a range of applicants to date. Some of these are nationally known names, others are more local candidates. The appointment of a manager has been complicated by the potential change of ownership so we, therefore, expect the new manager to be confirmed when the ownership situation has been resolved.”

No new manager until a new owner has been sorted. So no manager for a couple of months.

The new gaffer will have about a month to recruit most of a new squad, get them into some sort of cohesive unit and match-fit for the new season.

In the words of Paul Sturrock "We're f*$%ed".

was he the guy sent off at Barrow? if so he can cross the ball fairly well - but can't tackle
Yeah he was. Much better going forward than defending that’s for sure

Our physio has announced he's leaving the club this morning. This means we have zero coaching/management staff. Shambles.

Apparently we're about to announce who our new owner(s) will be.

In the last stages of talks with three consortiums (consortia?) and an announcement no later than 4pm thus Friday.

Now we know why Trump is really over here this week.

Now we hear one of the consortiums is considering pulling out as the current owners keep pissing them about and changing the goalposts. Players are being sold without them (or anyone else) knowing. Several players who were released last month were originally offered new contracts only to have them withdrawn at the last minute.

I’m not so sure, imagine the difficulty he’d have in pronouncing ‘Yeovil.’
