Not taking the piss here but I haven’t followed the National League at all this season and only just glanced at the table and saw Barnet in the relegation zone so what’s happened there?
Always seemed previously that when Barnet were relegated to the National League that they have one season mid table rebuilding and then have a right good crack at it the next season so what’s gone wrong there this time?

Chairman cutting the budget and only having 7/8 players under contract. Gave a man who’s not been in football for like three years, peanuts and three weeks to get a team together. Players are poor, not fit or organised.
Flowers has come in and already seems to be changing things behind the scenes. He couldn’t believe how bad the set up was.

Basically this, Kleanthous's logic this season appeared to be "well the parachute payments are gone this year, and the likes of Sutton and Dover seem to do OK most years so if we just cut our budget to their level we'll be fine".

The problem was a very poor managerial appointment in Beadle who was not only tactically clueless but, unlike the aforementioned clubs managers, had no knowledge of football locally as he is based in the west of the country so we ended up seemingly relying on agents to feed us journeymen who've already flopped at multiple clubs around this level.

Looks like the chairman has realised his mistakes and that Flowers will now get the budget he needs.

Loathe as I am to link the Daily Mail but I see Barnet made the papers the other day

I'm as critical of our hierarchy as anyone but that article is pretty one sided. I'm pretty sure it doesn't tell the full story as we do have a youth team this year, it's just not a full academy.

If his side of the story is accurate then I'm surprised they've gone to the papers rather than getting lawyers involved.

It’s a trifling sum for a club like Benfica and if he is the shit-hot starlet he claims to be, then they wouldn’t have had any qualms about paying it.

Bell just been recalled by Stockport. Wonder if this is down to us potentially being a playoff threat as opposed to them needing him? Maybe Stockport fans can shed some light. Any injuries etc?

Yep, Alex Reid developed an injury against Alty and had to come off at half time.

Personally I'd be happy for him to continue starting (and scoring) for your lot, with Bennett and Jennings he's not such a shoe-in at EP

Frustrating one for us as we've just let Nepomuceno go (who wasn't really good enough bar a couple of good goals or suited to our system) so we are down to 1 fit striker in Chadwick who's loan is almost up but pretty confident it will be extended. Allen was 50/50 for Saturday before the postponement so he might be fit for this coming weekend tbf. Hyde still out for another month and Stenson out for the season.

We've had no luck in the striking department in terms of keeping players fit or building partnerships. The only silver lining is Wild said the other day he had some players in mind. Just hope he knew Bell was leaving at that point otherwise that will have thrown a real spanner in the works.

is this the next batch of money?

We are concerned that having now entered January and almost 50 days since the £11 million Sport England funding package for the National League was announced, clubs have not received any communication or guidance as to the makeup of these monies or its distribution.

Wealdstone’s policy of giving non-contracts to good players at this level is backfiring it seems. A bit like it did for Braintree a couple of years ago.
It’s a better policy than giving contracts to shit players.

Has Dean Parrett signed a contract yet?

These players haven’t found a club or played for months and are not match fit, we are not in a position to offer them contracts and certainly not at the levels others can afford (or not) can give them.

We are a part time club in a full time league, we will live within our means and try to survive and build.

Alty v Sutton on Saturday has been switched to Gander Green Lane due to the possibility that the pitch at Moss Lane may be unplayable due to being frozen which wouldn’t be an issue at Sutton

Its more than a possibility, its already frozen, snowing and forecast is awful here. The snow still hasnt melted from over a week ago where the sun hasnt got on it. Its a sensible thing to do,.. apart from the high covid risk down there ;) anyway most of our squad have had it

Wealdstone aren't propping up the table.
You don’t appear to know what constitutes a rivalry. League position is irrelevant if one side of the ‘rivalry’ doesn’t feel like the other side are their rivals.

Excellent! Common sense for once. WHY doesn't this happen more often, in normal circumstances!

Interesting bit of news released by the club today in that Season tickets for 2021-22 season are due to go on sale as early as this afternoon, with all prices staying the same from the 19/20 season!!

Club have announced that early bird offers will remain in place from now until 30th June which i think is a good move as it’s obvious there will still be plenty of supporters out there a little sceptical given the current climate. At the same time, plenty of fans have clearly expressed an interest in purchasing them ASAP as a way of supporting the club financially, so I think it’s a bit of a win/win for club and supporters really.

Personal view is that it’s a little bit soon to be committing to renewing/buying a season ticket for next year given there is still so many questions surrounding how the pandemic is going to affect football (especially at our level) over these next few months which may then have a knock on effect to next season. But as I mentioned, if there’s people willing to part with couple of hundred quid to help support the club in the shorter term then why not!?

Wondered whether any other clubs in this division have announced/speculated a similar approach?

On a similar line, what did the clubs who (crazily) offered season tickets for this season end up doing!?!

We sold 1,000 season tickets for this season at the drop of a hat and then an additional 500 that were released shortly after, I bought one and like all fans, knew the risks involved and the chances of not getting to any games and I'd do it again, it's helping the club when they were at their lowest point.

With regards to any sort of benefit produced, you get access to the stream obviously and they launched some loyalty scheme alongside it, I honestly couldn't tell you how it worked though.

We started selling ours pre-Covid but from memory, we had three options.

1) Full refund
2) Part refund, access to iFollow (the refund being the difference between the season ticket game price and the iFollow price)
3) No refund, access to iFollow but a credit against the difference between the season ticket game price and the iFollow price to be used for next seasons season ticket or against other initiatives TBC.

Think County offered a refund, no official figures given but I've heard figures that 400 out of 2,400 did so. The rest keep access to streaming, and are likely entitled to an as yet undecided discount for something in the future. All depends on whether fans are allowed in at any point this season, which currently looks unlikely.
