It's just not true. Every proposal to build a ground in the Borough was rejected at the planning stage.
South Underhill gained planning approval on the proviso TK gave up Underhill. He declined to do this, wanting to keep both so the Ladies and Acadamy used Underhill only with the players also training there. He offered to demolish most of ground only keeping main stand and that side. Council declined so TK threw his toys and went to Harrow council, who had already approached him about taking over PEPF.

That's not what this document says.

That was not the case. The South Underhill proposal gained approval from the council in 2002 and was not called in by the GLA. Unfortunately, following local government elections control of the council changed hands from a Lab/Lib-Dem coalition to the Tories, who blocked South Underhill from proceeding any further.

Nearly all clubs are bankrolled. Only a handful are bankrolled to beyond their natural level.

We are the opposite and bankrolled to below our natural level, no way should we be finishing bottom half League 2 every season culminating in this season being bottom of the entire league, but thanks to John Scrooge Fenty that’s exactly where we are.

I found Chester's last relegation quite funny.
I felt really good when Torquay got relegated, it was karma for their disgraceful preparation and performance at Guiseley on the last day of 2015/16 season, which handed 3 gift wrapped points to the home team and sent us down, while we were battling a Macclesfield team who were rightfully determined to uphold their duty to al the other teams involved in the relegation fight. :ds:

Thought ground grading issues (not pitch) need to be resolved at a certain date and not after the season, unless things have change. If you guys make it hopefully you’ll get to see it unlike Barrow.

I think we’re planning long term - everything will need to be approved as quickly as possible, plus there are the logistics in trying to more than double our current seating capacity before the end of 2021/22 season.

I don’t see how any Barnet fan can criticise Wealdstone, or any other fan, for finding it funny if we were relegated.

We should take it as a compliment - that we are seen as a relatively big club at NL level, with decent and recent FL history.

That it could spell going out of business (which I do not agree with as a likely outcome) is our concern, not fans of other clubs.

To what extent are Sutton United bankrolled?

Seems like a lot of expensive work in the pipeline.

Not having a dig, just curious!

Is there an option to groundshare with anyone? A new pitch, installing a new 3G at a different location plus all the other measures to bring the ground up to standard, is likely to take a little while to sort out.

Not to any extent from what I’ve seen. They just seem to be a well-run club who have made sensible decisions over a long period of time.

As the statement from the board suggests we are looking at the possibility of a necessary groundshare. Lots of talk amongst Sutton fans of Plough Lane (we’ve had a good relationship with AFCW since they restarted in 2002), although for banter reasons I wouldn’t mind Kingsmeadow.....(of course this all speculation. Long way to go yet in the season).

This is pretty much correct. We don’t have a sugar daddy (or sugar mummy), just a sensible board of long-term fans who have run us sensibly for decades. We are the definition of stability at board level

Can't argue with that to be honest, we were a disgrace that day.

I’m losing track of who is arguing with who on here now. The Halifax fans seems to have started a trend. Wealdstone v Barnet now is it. Why can’t we go back to us having a good side and Wrexham moaning about how shite they were

It's simmered down now but all started thanks to what I thought was a fairly innocent post on Friday night (I don't think Barnet getting relegated and them going bust are mutually exclusive). Appreciate it's tedious for everybody else to read so I'm going to refrain from any Barnet vs. Wealdstone chat until both clubs play again on Easter Monday.
