I'd just like to draw people's attention to the "ignore member" feature of the site. Works a treat.

Not at all surprised, you really wont do anything till Hurst goes, I am literally astounded the guy is still there. Theres surely plenty of talent around that would do a much better job of it, and actually harness the fans desire. Bet you now win 2-0 and win the final. However on that showing I simply cant see it.

I do though have serious concern at Braintrees ground safety. If GTFC go out some of your fans may sadly show themselves up. which for the vast majority of fine fun loving fans will be a shame.

Watched most of the game, Braintree looked decent and organised. On one hand it'd be great to see Braintree to go up and see how they'd cope in league 2. The Cowley family are doing a class job there. On the other hand I do have sympathy for Grimsby after the last few years, remember watching them lose at Gateshead two years ago and then the playoff final last year.

Please Grimsby, please get your act together in the second leg. You're the only decent side here, surely you can get over the line this time? :-(

Bitter bitter bitter :p grimsby fans should have their own soap opera, always something to moan about, always an excuse and keep slating other teams on here before looking at themselves :bdick::bdick:

Well done Braintree, great effort and hope the Braintree players enjoy work tomorrow morning when grimsbys professionals are crying at training!!

I'll congratulate Braintree, if they win the tie. No point in doing it now.

Braintree's. Really rash challenge from Gowling.
It was 100% a foul, whether or not it was in the box was unclear even after several replays. The BT Sport commentators failed to make a decisive call on that too.

Quite a few starting to leave already. Brilliant support lol.
That was probably because the club made the ridiculous decision to sell the away leg tickets at 9pm after the match, on a first come first served basis.

I wrote Braintree off half a dozen games ago, so we'll done Braintree. Grimsby have more quality players in their team than Braintree so this tie is far from over yet.

No one on here giving us credit for another professional performance from a part time TEAM that give their all each and every time we play.
You all need to get over the BELT hang ups and realise anyone can buy a side, but it takes an exceptional manager to build a TEAM and fortunately for us we have one.
Up at tranmere we hope you go up you were one of the best sides to visit us this year, along with dover and madly enough boreham wood... If you dont go up you will probably lose your manager though..... No pressure!!

Yes, I wrote Braintree off when I saw that six of their last eight games were all away from home, with seven games in 22 days and then having to go away to Grimsby, Gateshead and Wrexham in a row - having just played Forest Green too!

Astounding that they ended the season so strongly, fair play to them.

You. Will be having a tenner on us at 12/1 - we'd be nowhere near that if we'd drawn but in reality wouldn't be in a much worse position

You lot are far from out of it, Dover need to up their game but so do we, just hope we dont try and defend the 1-0 as i think you'll score if we try that. Perfect scenario for me would be us scoring early then defend, I think If Dover are going to win it they'll need to score early as well. Will be very close whatever happens.

We need to score first, not necessarily early. We've only scored 3 in our last 6 games and you've conceded 2 in your last 6 - we have the firepower but it's not clicking at the moment, probably because the service they get is next to useless.

We also haven't won in our last 5 games.

The morning after I still feel quietly confident. The home game I think was always going to be tougher for us, a lot more frustrating in front of a hostile crowd. We need to play with a bit of freedom now and I think if we can go in at half time 1-0 up we'll go all the way. My only worry is that Hurst bottles it and starts making stupid changes like starting Hoban.

That does seem mad long odds on Dover. We did well to win it but hardly dominated and.you sense Dover have a much better performance in them.

I agree that If we score first we could go all the way, the problem for me is that I cannot see us scoring at all let alone first, and Hurst will probably go Amond and Hoban and leave Bogle on the bench after subbing him last night.

Have you ever had a settled side this season? Seems to switch it round a lot

No and it goes a long long way to explain why we're so disjointed on the pitch. Hurst has stuck to his policy for 4 years in the blind hope that it might work one day.

As has been quoted before, it's Einsteins definition of insanity.

That said I feel better this morning, just need to drive the players on, on Sunday and hope we can rattle Braintree with an early goal. The players need to show us that they want this. I think even 1-0 after 90 mins we'd have the beating of a part time side eventually, I just don't trust Hurst nor our ability to keep a clean sheet.

Pontoonlew's reply pretty much hits the nail on the head, one bad performance means changes with Hurst, he dropped Amond for 5 or 6 games early in the season just because he missed an easy header at Altrincham, continually playing Tomlinson in his place despite him not scoring once.

Bogle limped off so I'm giving Hurst the benefit of the doubt on that one but even then, Pittman was a far better option. This obsession with a lump who has done virtually nothing since he arrive is going to cost us unless Hurst bites his tongue and sticks with the same team (or Pittman if Bogle is unavailable).

Yeah i was surprised to see Hoban come on when Pittman is usually good for a goal.
Didn't notice Bogle limping, i thought it was just Hurst showing him who's boss again.

Dover at 12/1 is crazy? They aren't out of the leg yet, being 1-0 up is a advantage, but not a 12/1 advantage!

Can't understand Grimsby. Thought they'd wipe the floor with Braintree. I think they need a complete overhaul, new manager come in with new ideas. Seems to be a very negative mood around their ground.
