236 Torquay at Boreham including me who came up. Weatherspoons was excellent beforehand wish we had stayed in there. Still reasonable as down to 2k home crowds

...I wish I'd stayed at home to be honest. We looked mediocre at best. If only we had a team of 'Lapslie's'!

Our support, as always, was excellent especially considering it was a Tuesday night and it was Boreham Wood. Wonder how many of those who travelled will make the similiar-distance trip to Bromley on Saturday after being underwhelmed by the 'beleagured' Gulls (again)

Call me naive but I think it’s total bollocks about Grimsby being a ‘shithole’. Plenty to do, blessed to have Cleethorpes as well which is far better than most soulless midlands towns and cities. People are generally unbelievably sound and house prices are cheap for what you get.

It’s not bollocks unfortunately, there are a lot of nice bits too that I know people will find hard to believe, but some big parts of it are a complete dump, a massive part of the East Marsh around Rutland Street/Oxford Street are absolutely vile.

no exact figure for us at Kings Lynn last night. It was segregated but a fair few fans went through home turnstiles and then were let in.

somewhere between 100-150 I’d imagine as there were a fair few in the seats as well.

There was a thread on here a few years that proved that the vast majority of National League teams were from shithole towns. I think it breeds character.

Not bad for a fairly rotten Tuesday night.

That was our biggest attendance in Non league. Our biggest league attendance since 2007 and our biggest midweek league game attendance since 1979.

That new Lincoln thing again...on the Away Support thread.

Of course, this means Wrexham are now tumbling down the Away Support as a % of Home Fans league as well

Club have just announced we were issued 700 standing and 450 in the seats for this. I suspect most of the standing tickets had already gone before last night looking at the Maidenhead/Bromley away numbers.

Is it not first come first served on the seating? Can’t remember us selling specific away tickets for the seats before.

Edit: Having re-read that, it does sound like what you're saying and I just misconstrued it the first time I read it I think. So the seating is unsegregated in that stand then?

I spent a couple of years in Grimsby and I agree with that. People there were fine, even my supervisor at work who was on licence for manslaughter, and there are some posh areas that wouldn't look out of place in Surrey.

It's better than Scunny and a number of other shithole towns around the country. Haven't been back for a while but one day for nostalgia.

One thing I will say to my fellow Town fans who disagreed with me in the summer, is that Lenny came on and by all accounts was very poor again. Hanson is fit and has scored two in six for Farsley Celtic in the division below...

Yeah funnily enough I was saying similar to my kids on the school run a couple of weeks ago, their school is in Waltham 5 miles away from our house and I said to them that anybody from outside Grimsby doing this drive would not believe that it is Grimsby as for about the last 3.5 - 4 miles the whole drive is through a really affluent part of town, down Bargate then Scartho Road and then Waltham Road.
It’s only the first mile or so of the drive that is what you would call down ‘normal’ streets and by that I mean your bog standard terraced housing.

I’d love a study into the correlation between northern towns/cities and large away followings. I’ve always put it down to the north being more tribal and prouder of our roots. I’m not sure ‘escaping hell for a day’ rings true anymore.

Dont get me wrong, I hope he doesn’t play a big part this season. I would never see him as a regular starter for a team that have ambitions to go up as champions but as a hard working second striker I don’t have an issue if we need the occasional bit part from him. Taylor was always going to be above him in the pecking order and rightly so (Taylor has been superb), but if he gets injured we would be a different team so that much talked about new striker is still very much needed. A fit hanson blows him out the water but the word fit is the issue, as you say, if we can get a season of bit parts for not much money out of Lennie then I think that’s all I would be hoping for.

I'm not necessarily judging Lenny as a player, it's more an observation that so far this season I'm correct when I said that Hanson would have been the better option. It's all nonsense anyway essentially, as Lenny was on an 18 month deal and Hanson's contract was coming to its end when the discussion was had.

There's a bit of a catch 22 in play here, if we just need him for cameo appearances but he seemingly can't get himself into a position whereby he is fit and capable of keeping hold of the ball without regular game time then how's he going to be ready for these sub appearances?

Obviously since then the team including Taylor are playing well so he's not going to get back in and have a run of games for the rest of the season hopefully!

Good on Hanson for getting some game time, still don't want him back, and still glad he wasn't kept on.

Only person I will change my mind on is Waterfall, didn't want him to stay, not really liked him at all since he has been with us, but he has been one of our best players so far this season so fair play.

You’ll get 1/3rd ish of the stand, and we’ll get the other 2/3rds - will be segregated.

Luckily the weather forecast seems OK for the uncovered away terrace. Although I’m sure northerners could cope with a bit of rain anyway.

I meant segregated between home and away fans, so your 2nd sentence should be the way it works.

Usually we just sell say 1,100 away tickets and the first 450odd away fans who want seats on the day get them. The remaining 650 away fans have to stand.
