Wonder if Darlo want Tyrone back? Darlo On Tour
Alex Perry - Like Justin Walker but much much worse
Jordan Hallam - always injured.

Deep joy.

Absolutely the old Tyrone we had a few years back, can't really comment on his limited recent performances. I didn't really see much of him to be honest other than a simple tap in goal.

I'd give him another chance if he became available.

No surprises in our list, although we do look out of balance between left and right in defence and even more so if the manager pursues his stated interest in bringing Pask back. Haynes is just too inconsistent, you literally can't rely on him playing two good games in a row.

Meh about Baker-Richardson, who seems very fragile but was a big help for Telford. The best Courtney Senior could have expected was a "prove your fitness" deal after all year out with his second ACL but he didn't get it.

I'm really pleased for young Ovendale following in his late father's footsteps (and gloves).

Archie Davies and Tyler Frost have announced their depar5from Crawley.

Davies is a right back. Has all the attributes for an attacking full back but...I dont know but I was never convinced by him.

Frost is a right winger type. Got something about him but we haven't seen him for ages. I dont know if his has been injured or what but not been in the squad for the second half of the season.

I think the National league beckons for both but it would surprise me to see them get back to league football.

Jay Spearing has been released by Tranmere along with Calum McManaman and Nicky Maynard amongst others.
Whilst 41 year olds Peter Clarke and Joe Murphy have deservedly been offered new deals.
Would like to see Kieron Morris re-sign along with Calum McDonald and Charlie Jolley.
Out of the loan signings I wouldn’t mind seeing Glatzel and Warrington back next season.
Think the option on Jolley was taken. Sadly, Morris looks like moving on, while hope we can persuade Macdonald to re-sign. Agree about Murphy and Clarke though think that PC may have to accept not playing every game.

Wouldn't have kept Sutton or Foulds tbh. Need to be getting rid of 4/5 of those in contract too otherwise it's another midtable finish next season.

Agree. Would've released Hendrie too unless we're confident of binning off Threlkeld in which case he's ok backup.

Yeah agree with that. If we go into next season with Threlkeld and Hendrie as our right-backs then I'll be worried. Hopefully Hughes will tell Threlkeld to find another club and then we bring in some actual quality to replace him. On the otherside, I'm not really a fan of Foulds. Ridehalgh is decent enough though imo but still replaceable.

Can only repeat the above, Sutton, Foulds and Hendrie are all very upgradable even as far as back ups go, personally I would’ve released them. Sutton I like but his energy that we needed under Adams is surplus now given we press and generally work as a team a lot better under Hughes. Still a lot of dead wood going into next season and that includes the three mentioned who have been offered new deals.

Not being thick but what exactly is an u23 player? Do they actually have a separate squad with u23 specific contracts or something? When we had a team in the central league it was just a mix of fringe/recovering first teamers, youth team and the odd triallist or two.

We have announced our released and retained list.

Players leaving the club upon the expiry of their contracts: Rory Watson, Tom Collins, Harry Jessop, Lewis Thompson, Aaron Jarvis, Tom Pugh, Kenan Dünnwald-Turan, Harry Baker, Anthony Grant.

Options have been exercised on the contracts of: Cameron Wilson, Dan Gallimore.

Players remaining under contract: Ross Millen, Mason O'Malley, George Taft, Alfie Beestin, Joe Nuttall, Jordan Hallam, Tyrone O'Neill, Liam Feeney, Alex Perry, Owen Foster, Jack Moore-Billam, Harry Lewis, Ethan Young.

Contract offers made to: Jai Rowe, Finley Shrimpton.

Discussions ongoing: Harry Bunn.

Loan players returning to their parent club: Ryan Delaney, Rekeil Pyke, Tyrese Sinclair, Hayden Hackney, Sam Burns, Luke Matheson.

Liam Feeney is still under contract? Christ, he should have retired years ago judging by a couple of weeks back.

Where was Tyrese Sinclair from? Looked like an actual professional footballer amongst all of the dross.

No harm in kicking the tyres on him him I guess. DC having worked with would know about his injury whether it’s more a one off or he is Manny Oyeleke 2.0. Don’t think he’s brought in one of his former players yet since being at Vale.

Haynes released by Newport wouldn’t mind a look depending if us and Mal Benning part ways this summer.
"No harm in kicking the tyres" :brill: Fair play that's a great analogy made me chuckle, I'm going to have to slip that in somewhere myself for deffo.

Dont think we have yet, although most of our players are still celebrating in Dubai and Barton is playing golf in Loch Lomond.

I wish he would retire he’s appaling.

Sinclair was on loan from Mansfield, talent is clearly there but it’s hard for an attacking player when your team gets dominated every game so he was anonymous a lot.

Sinclair has been released by the Stags at the end of his contract.
with his dad now at Doncaster, wouldn’t be surprised he ends up there.

rumour has it on our forum that Ollie Banks has been told he can try to find another club if he wants - he clearly wasn't in Brown's plans - but i'm not sure what will happen when whoever the new guy comes in starts. Banks and Rooney both in midfield just doesn't seam to work. I can see several teams in D2 and NL being interested if he does want to leave.

His agent played a blinder getting that new deal off the back of our supposed interest, sounds like a good one to have missed out on.

Little Change at Colchester:

Somehow Frank Nouble is still there!!

We had so much change last year that they all signed two-year deals and everyone's under contract, Nouble included. Since Brown took over they have averaged 1.5ppg for half a season though so with a few tweaks it might not be the worst thing in the world. Even Nouble might be able to recover some form if he gets back out onto the wing...

Not being thick but what exactly is an u23 player? Do they actually have a separate squad with u23 specific contracts or something? When we had a team in the central league it was just a mix of fringe/recovering first teamers, youth team and the odd triallist or two.

Think so... they sign a 'professional development contract' so presumably the terms are a bit different and I'm guessing it's linked to the Category Two status. The U23s squad play in the Professional Development League and had 24 league games this season, alongside playing in the Premier League Cup which has at least six group fixtures if you don't make it to the knockout rounds.

Obviously they can still play for the first team though, but they're effectively their own group in the same way that the U18s are. It used to be that an 18-year-old would sign a one-year professional contract when they left the youth team, spend much of that time on loan in non-league and probably get released a year later, apart from a few exceptions. Now more of them stay for an extra couple of years usually and presumably get more development opportunities etc. The ones who aren't as promising and are likely making up the numbers for a squad to play a full season's worth of games still tend to just get the one year.

Banks earned his contract - the first half of the season he was our best player by some distance. As soon as he signed the contract though it went downhill. Something's happened off the pitch, which he's hinted at on Twitter. Most people assumed Phil Brown fell out with him, but that wouldn't explain why he's been asked to find a new club now.

Can see a top National League team taking him on loan, but he'd suit anyone in L2 (possibly L1 at a push) who likes the slow, methodical style of play.

Colchester have a team playing in the U23s Development League setup, so it'll be from the squad of players they use for that.

Couple of decent players in that squad too having seen them a couple of times this season. Harry Beadle, Gene Kennedy, Chay Cooper (scored a belter at Hartlepool on the last day) and Samson Tovide should be in and around the first team squad on a regular basis next season I would imagine.

Fair enough. Just seems quite an expense to run two squads, is it worth it at this level?
