Shola Ameobi's Notts County
Scot Bennett is a poor footballer...Just seen the goals and he was at fault for the first one and looked exposed for the others.

County you have my sympathies.

Bit obsessed with the Scot Bennett/Notts County relationship aren't you Exeter fans on here. We get it, he's shit. He'll probably be like 4th choice by 8th August - it's a disaster.

These results mean nothing , Pools , Bristol Rovers , Notts County and York all lose to non league , I read absolutely nothing into those results , if those fixtures were repeated in the FA CUP all the league teams would win

Really?

Just because it's non-league opposition, doesn't mean they're guaranteed to be defeated. Grimsby are expected to be up the top-end of the National League, and Gateshead will probably be a solid, yet unspectacular midtable side. In a competitive game, I wouldn't right off any of the aforementioned non-league teams, or maybe just Harrogate.

That Blyth defeat your keen to show was the best thing that happened to us , a week later we had Ronnie in charge and so beginith the revolution .... There are no full on challenges in friendlies , they play little 10 or 15 minute experiments within them , have up to 11 substitutions , it's a travesty that they charge you to watch them .... I do not expect to see York bottom of league 2 cos of a kick about in Harrogate

I think it's dreadful that you dont appreciate the competitiveness of these matches. For Tiverton Town playing us was like their FA cup, league playoff and johnstones paintpot cup final all rolled into one. They were vicious as well... playing like their lives depended on it. Seldom have I seen lions show such aggression. The passion: unrivaled.

This league might not be serious for the "oh so mighty pools" but for some of us League 2 minnows it's the closest we will come to winning anything.

I'm not disagreeing with you on that point, more so the fact you disregarded the non-league sides by saying they'd almost certainly lose against the league opposition in a competitive game. I only used that Blyth defeat to show that league sides aren't immortal in competitive fixtures, and it's quite possible some minnows can beat the mighty Hartlepool.

I think some people , not all , take the pre seasons as an indicator to the season ahead , I don't usually go to them but I went to one to see all our new players , and I'm going to another because I can't believe how bad one of them was , I won't name names , but if he's a professional player I'm Brad Pitt

Surely alistair slowe hasn't made a glorious return to English football?!?!?! :hail:

For reference last I heard he was playing for Ayia Napa FC.... Maybe he's into dance music.

It's actually Kudos Oreyogoo or something ... so far Tottenham showed him the door , Dundee United sent him to Cowdenbeath who then sent him back , now we have him , he turns up unfit and with a liking to try to control a ball using his shin .. Ronnies sent him on a crash intensive fitness course ... be warned ... he'll be out on loan and it could be you!

Normal service has resumed around Notts, after Grimsby gave us a whipping (I didn't expect to lose without scoring) fans have been a little down about the upcoming season. To be fair, it sounds like a good Grimsby side did their homework on us and really taught us a lesson.

I would rather have these now, than in the actual season.

I believe Moniz can work it out, I think we have a very good squad but will have a transition period whereby teams could very well unsettle us.

3-0 to Grimsby is our wake up call! Easy promotion? It's never easy within League Two.

A York starting eleven featuring nine professional footballers held the mighty Darlington 1883 to a 1-1 draw at Bishop Auckland last night.

We've got Brentford tonight. Andre Gray's pace vs Steve McNulty should be funny.

We've got Preston at home tonight, I imagine we'll both field strong sides.

Player B scored our goal, and is apparently Kaid Mohammed. He also fell flat on his face while attempting a cross.

No-one seems to know, but Player A is most likely Taron Hare, a centre-back from Scunny's youth set-up.

Have I mentioned that this is looking like a long season?

Basford away tonight. Sounds like we are sending a mix of young prod and the youth team.

Currently playing Blackpool behind closed doors, despite us playing at home, they have demanded a media blackout. The only source of information is Blackpool's twitter feed. Laughable.

The police bill for their first few league fixtures will be astronomical...
