We've just beat Southern Premier side Cirencester 7-0.

A hat-trick apiece from trialist Billy Bodin (who is making a good impression thus far) and young striker Jamie Lucas, as well as a strike from youth player Ryan Broom. A successful night, I'd say! Mangotsfield up next tomorrow night.
I'm taking my kids to the mangos . Should be fun . Looking forward to seeing ajala .

Always a good trip to Cossham Street - hope you and your family enjoy it Aber.

Should be interesting to see how Ajala and indeed Jennison Myrie-Williams get on. Lines has been very complimentary about JMW in the press today (motivated by the fact they are good friends) so this game is a good time for him to show DC what he's all about. He has other contract offers on the table but wants to move back to Bristol.

Bingham watch - Rakish played the first half at Harrogate Railway last night. From the Pools website:

"It could even have been 2-0 moments later when Josh Nearney stepped out of defence to thread a lovely ball through to Rakish Bingham but the hosts’ keeper Jim Goodwin went across to his left to brilliantly deny the Pools striker."

Had a pleasant day in Suffolk yesterday. Minsmere delivered Bittern, Kittiwake and Yellow-legged Gull but no Albatross. Stanford Arms had excellent company and beers (Tombstone Gunslinger and Green Jack Flower Power worth particular mention). Oh and there was a football match at Crown Meadow.

Trawler-boys-small.png

The new shirts looked great and were particularly useful as it got dark towards half-time. The pitch was in a lot better condition than for my last visit at the end of April and the Trawlerboys looked to have a bit more quality, organisation and fitness than they showed against Barrow - if they can pick up some points away, they may have an outside chance of the play-offs. A new manager and Ryan Jarvis (ex-York) joining little brother Rossi, with the addition of keeper Marcus Garnham, seemed to make up (at least at the back and midfield) for the departure of Omar Sowumni (to Yeovil). Curtis Haynes-Brown has moved on to Macclesfield. Danny Crow was again notable for his absence.

"A Trialist" didn't impress much on the left wing (first half) - strong and quick but didn't look a Money player (too short, no useful crosses, not great at tracking back). No surprises from the usual suspects and new signings: Corr and Simpson (if he stays) will ruffle/rough up a few defenders through the middle; Slew looked excellent on the left of front 3 in the 2nd half with Roberts plying some great balls from the back; Craddock looks like a more effective Ryan Bird - goals but not a target; Defence/keeper was solid apart from (deja vu) Greg Taylor (hope he goes) allowed a cross from the right that Josh (looks like he might stay) and crew couldn't deal with for their goal. Lowestoft 1- 4 slightly flattered U's.

Our new addition to the Irish contingent Hughes (Jeff) is a similar size and shape to our old Hughes (Liam) - who was getting a lot of coaching filling the holding midfield role 1st half. Against a team that harried our midfield fairly effectively in the 1st half, we looked better bypassing midfield in the second half, even with back-up players on the field.

Early doors in the pre-season league and Carlisle are cheating by playing games every other day while Notts County are doing that thing you do on FM where you find a bunch of shit teams and absolutely tonk them to get morale up. I mean Rolls Royce FC? Come on guys, at least make an effort.

Meanwhile Yeovil went completely left field and played a cricket match because Paul Sturrock's don't answer to no man.
Don't forget Redgate Rangers 0 - 4 Cambridge United (as well as Trawlerboys 1 - 4 U's) last night when updating this.

Yeah, Cullen was either not aware enough to bend his run backwards like that, or too slow to get away from the defenders if he did time his run perfectly.

I think you will smash a few goals in tonight. Probably end 7 or 8 nil to County.

Our first team are at Worksop Town and anything less than a 4 goal margin will be an embarrassment.

Played Middlesbrough in Malaga and lost 3-1. Frazer Wilson, Connor Essam, Alex Woodyard and Jack Payne all played. McCallum scored for us.

We're away at Burgess Hill tonight. Local Sussex Derby. Think they went most of last season unbeaten but we should win comfortably.

Roarie Deacon ex Stevenage has just scored our first.

Beat Carlton Town 4-1, goals from Stead, Campbell, de Silva and Burke. Rene Howe randomly played the second half.

Only tinpot teams, but everyone who has seen de Silva has been very impressed. Excited to see a bit more of him.

We've defeated Mangotsfield 2-0 tonight to make it four wins out of four in pre-season.

Big Nathan Blissett scored both, which bodes well as finishing wasn't his strong point last season.

I refuse to acknowledge a team with Alan Smith at centre-back as our first team, therefore every friendly so far has been played with us, I hope, taking the piss and disrespecting every opposition we've faced.

Got our first pre season win with a 2-1 victory at Weston Super Mare. Goals from trialist Alex Fisher and Tom Nichols.

On to AFC Bournemouth on Saturday now.

So after match block two, Bristol Rovers have launched a vicious assault on the pre-season division top spot, leading goal shy Notts County by 3 points virtue of a game more. Elsewhere Orient are the only side to have played a fixture and yet to pick up a point, while Oxford played a team called Wiener which deserves a mention no matter how childish it is. Alan Smith apparently played a game at centre-half for Notts County, Hartlepool played one of my favourite named non league teams (Harrogate Railway), and Morecambe gave Felicity Kendal a right good smashing.

Side note - York ruining the pattern by playing at home has really annoyed me. Points may be docked pending an enquiry.

Next update Saturday evening/Sunday morning.
