Vale fans… has Benning been released?
No mention of him in the games yesterday, and with the local rag now all but disappeared, no reports on there

He’s definitely here next season, someone asked him directly at one of the open training sessions for the Junior Valiants and he said he’d actually triggered an extension clause in his contract. Why the club haven’t acknowledged that I don’t know. Yesterday he had a “slight thigh injury” according to Crosby so was rested (as were Ellis and Massey for tight hamstrings).

I read talk the club offered a new 2 year deal not yet signed but they have triggered the year extension.

Well after what's taken me what seems like all morning, here are the results from this past weekend. Every team has now played, but Wigan's win over Hearts yesterday was a game of two 60 min halves, so they're the only team not to register on the league table.

Please clear up any errors for me - or confirm if I've missed anything/

Results:
14/07/2023
Arsenal u21 0-1 Wycombe
Gosport 1-3 Portsmouth
Peterborough 1-3 Luton

15/07/2023 & 16/07/2023
Chester 1-1 Bolton
Crewe 2-2 Burton
St Albans 1-3 Cambridge
Workington 0-3 Carlisle
Weston Super Mare 1-2 Cheltenham
Bath 0-0 Exeter
Tranmere 4-1 Fleetwood
Boston United 0-7 Lincoln
Northampton Town 0-1 Leicester
Kidsgrove Athletic 0-2 Port Vale
Newcastle Town 0-0 Port Vale
Havant 0-1 Portsmouth
Sutton 0-2 Reading
West Brom 3-1 Shrewsbury
Stamford 2-1 Stevenage
Oxford 3-1 Southampton B
Brentford B 0-1 Bristol Rovers

And the table this morning (with all but Wigan playing, I've moved to PPG):

Port Vale v Grimsby in Alicante this Friday. Bit sunnier than when we usually face off.

Hate to spoil all of your hard work Si, but it was Tranmere 4 Fleetwood 1, and not the other way round as you have it.

Confirmation video of the goal action is on Tranmere's forum.
You now have yet another reason to dislike Shrewsbury fans

I have it right on the table, but wrong on the results - have amended accordingly.

No dislike - I appreciate the corrections.

My guess is this is almost certainly going to be split into 30 minute periods or 15 minute quarters with the heatwave over there. Vale v Grimsby what an exotic fixture for the good people of Alicante.

Have to see I guess… I’m in Kos at the moment and it’s eased up a bit today but was a sizzling weekend!

So then Burton, how was Caprice tonight? He was either Trialist A or B..

We beat West Brom 1-0 last night, Aidan Keena with the goal.

Sounds like we weathered a storm before getting one on the break late on.

A few games today/tonight, so will publish a new table tomorrow. Thanks to LancashireTrotters. Guernica and Moonie for detailing the training ground friendlies - have added them accordingly.

Weird one, that was down as an inter-squad friendly, even as late at Saturday when Kennedy was talking about it.

I think Chesterfield tonight kicks off our real pre-season run of games - I think it's the first time our new look back five will be playing together anyway. We still have plenty of work to do in the transfer market when it comes to attackers, the few we have are injured at the moment apart from Collins and Mendes-Laing. Sibley, Washington and Barkhuizen all injured.

We’re catching up on our games in hand by playing both Ebbsfleet and Chelmsford City tonight. Believe both are going to be XIs with the first team split in half. No indication about dodgy game formats.

Lost 3-2 at Ebbsfleet and 2-0 at Chelmsford. The first team was basically split into two groups with the slightly stronger side going to Ebbsfleet which was where I ended up.

3-0 down at half time, could've been more than that after we kept getting done on the break and playing with no natural defensive midfielder.

Second half Wellens fixed it and we dominated the game and pulled two goals back.

1-0 win against Chesterfield. A good turnout for a friendly on a Wednesday night - over 6k with 2.5k Derby fans.

Chesterfield looked good, we looked disjointed at first but grew into the game - draw would’ve been a fair result. Another goal for Collins, another assist for Ward. Plenty to work on though. Injuries are already causing us problems: Elder, Wilson, Sibley, Washington, Smith & Barkhuizen all out. We’ve had to lean on academy to fill the squad and there is some talent there, but hopefully we won’t be leaning on them too much when the season starts.
