Think we're playing Benfica at St. George's next week. How that got arranged I have no idea.
Benfica badges and sponsors all over the main pitch today. Capacity of about 500 so an impressive set up

I see the International Champions Cup pre season tournament has started. AC Milan stuffing Bayern 4-0 has been the big result so far. Barcelona v Juventus tonight should be decent.

When do Mansfield & Luton get their International Champions Cup campaigns underway and who against?

Dicked 4-0 at home by forest. Didn't expect that. Some pretty poor performances, still sound light upfront. Also sounded like forest were pretty superb though

Still, hopefully more will be learnt from that than gong to some park side in the conference and winning 6-0.

Still, I was at Trent bridge to see Notts beat Northamptonshire in the 20/20
We looked absolutely knackered in my opinion mate.
Players looked like they were running through treacle. We actually played some decent stuff first 20 minutes, but even the lads who only played the first 45 were looking leggy about 30 mins in!
Some of them have played a lot of games already, and from what I gather training-wise, they are still doing double sessions which probably equates to why we were 3 yards off the pace all over the pitch.

Standout players really for me were Mellis and Anderson. You can see why they've played in the Championship. Mellis will be absolutely class if he stays fit and motivated.
Don't think much of Logan, surely Olejnik is better? But Olejnik being at Stamford and Logan playing the full 90 today suggests Evo thinks otherwise?

And so far, Jimmy Spencer looks like the new Chris Beardsley, hopefully he can only get better!

Couple of pre-seasons ago, we lost to Brimscombe & Thrupp, and finished up our by pre-season shipping 5 at home to Plymouth and getting tanked at Cirencester. We then won our first 9 league games, not conceding a goal in the first 5.

Every year fans make the mistake of reading too much into friendly results, they mean pretty much nothing.

It's laughable. They were World-beaters when we put 6 past Bishops Cleeve 8 days ago, now we're getting relegated.

Nothing so fickle as a Cheltenham fan.

I've been away on me hols. Sunny Italy was lovely thank you very much but while I've been gone we have beaten Dulwich Hamlet 2-4 and lost to new premier league bots Falmer village 0-6!

Brighton had a good side out and we went with an experimental 3-3-2-1 system (or maybe a go out and run around system) with a mixture of first and second choice players. Suffice to say , our attempts to play out from the back with three cloggers as centre halves was a tad unsuccessful! I cannot see Brighton coming again without assurances over the quality of the side we put out.

I am seriously worried about our prospects this season.

We played very well beating a full strength MK Dons team 2-0. If we can get one more striker in we could have a very decent team and hopefully then a good season.
Looks like we will be signing Nigel Pearson son this week whose a decent centre back.
Just winning a few games willl be so nice after our disastrous season last time out.

We gave up completely after the abysmal defending for the 2nd goal.
Hayden White was torn a new arsehole throughout by Mustapha Carayol I thought, the mistake was the icing on the cake for him....usually doesn't put a foot wrong.

I see what you mean about the defending for the 2nd goal  A brilliant 3rd though played on the floor.

When did Forest sign Schweinsteiger? Dead ringer in that still shot.

Has anyone taken that competition seriously this year? Lincs FA will be after handing fines out left, right and centre!

Scunny played the kids against Grimsby, Grimsby played the kids against Boston, Lincoln played the kids against Gainsborough.
Ours was a borderline school team we had 5 16 year olds playing!

Pretty handicapped system you've got there, not sure I'd recommend that against a top flight team.

Certainly an increase in standard as we play our last two friendlies, both at home v Leicester City tomorrow and v Scunthorpe United on Saturday.

Think its going to be close to a full strength team v Leicester too.

It was only arranged late last week because Oxford pulled out of tonight's game but their first team have a game anyway.

DC knows Jack Lester so he's pulled in a favour to get a game.

We've got Gainsborough and Matlock both in the same night. Two first XI's going to each game, the squad at the moment has two players for each position to facilitate that.
All players are playing for a start at Crewe, so they should all be going for it in both games.
I'll be interested to see each team and who is combined with who, to try and get some sort of indication as to what Evans is thinking.
The first half team against Forest looked a lot better than the 2nd half one for example, but there's one or two in that 2nd half team who could strengthen the 1st half one in my opinion.

Jimmy Spencer has done nothing to earn a start yet, and oddly enough, Mirfin and Diamond have looked leaky and no better than Pearce, Bennett and Taft from last season's defence, but pre-season is there for them to make mistakes and get used to each other I suppose.

All very well each XI going for it but Evans can only be at the one game.

Saying that his belly probably reaches from Matlock to Gainsborough!!
