Well, I suppose Falmer Village are now a big side, Premier league and all that but it's hard to get excited as they will probably send the same u23 side that beat us in the senior cup final.

Oh, Falmer village is Brighton. Falmer is where their stadium is.

What's wrong with Scunthorpe? Big club, by far the biggest in Lincolnshire. A real coup for Luton to attract that calibre of opposition imo.
:fish: That is a feeble attempt Chris lol. :fish:

They were in the same league last season.

Some Chesterfield fans try to claim that Utd are their main rivals.:bye:

I've a lot of time for both Sheffield clubs, they've always been generous to Mansfield in both friendlies and their loan players
Depends how old you are or where you are from. If you grew up in the 70s/80s when we played them a lot then those fans see Sheff U as bigger rivals.

If you are younger or from a mining town or village then Mansfield are the man rivals. It's not 50/50 as Mansfield are still the biggest game in my eyes but for various reasons others don't.

No manager, No team, and of course no friendlies, typical Swindon Town as our Chairman is a Barsteward and a money grabbing thief.
Every year we are told we will recruit early and get the team settled in, every year the same , 2 to 3 weeks before season starts we get in players no one else wants and a few , 5 or6, loans from prem or championship sides.
Trouble is a lot of our fanbase still believe all that Power tells them, they will never ever learn, that what he says are complete lies and bull crap.
He (Power) told us we would have a new manager 3 weeks ago, I'm glad i didn't hold my Breath, we were so say after Evans, but it was just BS, as Evans had already said he was happy at Mansfield and had already started to recruit for new season, This is Power trying to get season ticket sales up as this year there has been a huge drop off on sales.
He has now come up with the line that we will have the biggest budget in League2, but , as he lives in Switzerland , i dont think he knows the difference between pennies and pound.
ahhh well there's always the prospect of National league football the season after next!

Last year we went to Austria, this year a tournament in Nuneaton.

Comparable apart from the mountains. I don't understand why clubs spend going abroad at lower levels. Yes they get a week or so to "bond" and focus but surely the same could happen in the UK.

With League Cup draw coming up and tickets on sale for our 3 home friendlies, I'm reminded to find out if SkyBet have finally come up with my cash for the failed Accrington visits last season.

Not sure if I'll get to any but 2 of them are in support of good causes, so I may make the effort if around.

Cambridge United v Norwich City - 15th July, 2pm kick-off

Cambridge United v Tottenham Hotspur (Josh Coulson Testimonial) - 21st July, 7:45pm kick-off.

Cambridge United v Southend United (Simon Dobbin Benefit Match) - 29th July, 3pm kick-off.

Full list, including some that will probably be mainly youth team fixtures, appears to be:

Sat 8th July - St Neots (A)
Tue 11th July - St Albans (A)
Wed 12th July - Royston (A)
Sat 15th July - Norwich (H)
Tue 18th July - Ebbsfleet (A)
Fri 21st July - Spurs U23 (H)
Sat 22nd July - Dartford(A) + Cambridge XI? v Mildenhall (A)
Wed 26th July - Hemel Hempsted (A)
Fri 28th July - Cambridge XI? v Haverhill (A)
Sat 29th July - Southend (H)
Tue 1st August - Cambridge XI? v Newmarket (A)
Sat 5th August - SEASON STARTS

we're away to Carlisle City on the 9th of July immediately following our community fun day, perhaps Sky Sports can run some kind of special weekend double-header.

Main attraction of this summer's friendly schedule is that we have a home friendly for the first time in aeons. Usually it takes us too long to sort our pitch out after the summer concerts to host any friendlies but we've managed on this occasion.

I don't think we've had any proper confirmation of what the hell is happening with us.

We have a friendly with Lincoln United a week on Saturday, then I think we head to Portugal for 7-10 days and presumably we're playing Orient while we're down there, on the way back. Gainsborough in the Lincs Cup, along with Walsall and Oxford.

Fewer games than we normally have.

No 'big' games this season. The biggest one is the U18's who play Manchester United U18's at SB. They seem to get all the high profile friendlies!
