Not that good IMO got caught very square for the first goal, one ball just beat both of them, far too easy. To be fair the second goal was a great strike that they couldnt have done much about (could have closed down a bit quicker maybe, but thats harsh) and other than that and the keeper making a cock up once or twice they dealt with everything else Hitchin had to offer but wouldnt say they were particularly impressive.

Like I say, no one stood out really bar the keeper for the wrong reasons and the little number 22 who produced a couple of nice touches and one outstanding run.

Our next test is tonight against the Titans - Matlock.

My first game thus season. Most excited to see Ugwa, Wiseman, Binnom-Williams and Rowley. The first 3 because apparently they impressed earlier in the week, and Rowley cos I want to see if he's carried on pushing on from last season.

I'm looking forward to watching young charlie Wakefield and ify ofoegbu aswell as they apparently impressed at Sheffield FC too!

If there is a positive from last season, it has to be that the academy seems to have significantly strengthened, and it looks as if we have a lot of talent coming through! Exciting times on the youth front!

couldnt make the 4-1 win at Sheffield FC on Tuesday and can't make Matlock tonight so will try and get down to Buxton tomorrow. No worries if not as i'm off to Portugal to watch us play Middlesbrough the weekend after.

Maybe they've actually signed Gozie Ugwa, not Gozie Ugwu? Might have made the same mistake as when we thought we'd signed Omar Bogle, when it was actually Omar Bugiel.

4-0 - Ugwu scored 2, Mitchell 1, and German 1. Wiseman, Binnom-Williams and Ugwu looked very good, and I won 100 odd quid on the scoreline, so can't complain.

Thought Ugwu looked class, a real handful, has pace, looked good in the air and a good finish for his second!

Also very impressed with the other new boys, especially Barry, Wiseman and Binnom-Williams!

I've just asked one of my cousins who's going out with a Maltese chap if they went to watch the Mansfield match (she's living in Malta presently) and she said they didn't bother to as it was going to be a one sided game. The side you lot played against was made up entirely of non-Maltese players looking to earn a contract with some local side, so they had never played together before.

My cousin's man is involved in some capacity with a local footy club so he's kept in the loop on what's going on. Apparently, you lot struggled to find local opposition to play, so it was all a bit rushed. Still, I'm sure you Stags over there are enjoying it.

And btw don't get me wrong, I'm not a closet Mansfield fan! I only asked my dear cuz about you lot to see how your squad's shaping up and if you're really promotion favs. But as she didn't go I'm none the wiser

Off to Buxton tonight then for our 3rd pre season game...

First half XI confirmed as:

Anyon
Wiseman - Evatt - Maguire
Barry - Sinnott - Hird - Donohue - JBW
Brewster - German
Looking forward to seeing how our young strike partnership link up, as I've been impressed with both of them so far in pre season.

Also looking forward to watching Donohue in midfield who's been one of our stand outs so far and looks to be vying for that starting position come Grimsby at home in August!

Pity the Daggers are in the connie now, as otherwise Murphy would have run the pre-season league again. He used to keep up to date with all the results and then compile a neat looking table ;) T'was always interesting to see which side would win the pre-season league!

We're close to winning the pre-season league. As our 15/16 campaign shows, a good pre-season ALWAYS means a good season.

We have Lincoln United tomorrow. Lost last years pre season game 2-0 against the Whites and then went on to have a half decent season, so will take that!

Beat Buxton tonight. Brewster, Sinnott, German, Dennis.

12 goals in 3 games. Just give us promotion now and there will be no trouble :animatedf:

Kidsgrove tomorrow to kick our pre season off and an XI at Congleton.

Don't bother with friendlies unless something unusual like playing Getafe a couple of years back but will be intrigued to see what trialists feature.

All 31 players getting a run out today in a game of 3 halves. I believe we also have a Barnet XI playing at Edgware
