Beat some pub team in Malta 5-0

Our preseason has looked fantastic so far, flying the squad out in a private jet for a week in the sun... All of our players were given work to do over the summer and they've come back in fantastic shape. Alex MacDonald has finally lost all his weight and looks a beast. Cant wait to see the new lads in action next week! From what people have said the standard is high and I can see picking a first 11 to be an incredibly hard task.

Digby from barnsley looks like he will be a very good find. And we actually have a team full of pace for once!

Also pleased Greeny scored!

I've just asked one of my cousins who's going out with a Maltese chap if they went to watch the Mansfield match (she's living in Malta presently) and she said they didn't bother to as it was going to be a one sided game. The side you lot played against was made up entirely of non-Maltese players looking to earn a contract with some local side, so they had never played together before.

My cousin's man is involved in some capacity with a local footy club so he's kept in the loop on what's going on. Apparently, you lot struggled to find local opposition to play, so it was all a bit rushed. Still, I'm sure you Stags over there are enjoying it.

And btw don't get me wrong, I'm not a closet Mansfield fan! I only asked my dear cuz about you lot to see how your squad's shaping up and if you're really promotion favs. But as she didn't go I'm none the wiser

I think that's why wed commented on playing Maltas joiners and plumbers. We were let down by 3 sides late on as they were involved in European qualifiers.

Still, I'd still be afraid of us lol

We landed in Portugal this morning and got them tomorrow night.

We were due to be playing Gainsborough Trinity tonight in the FA Trophy before this Portugal trip came up, so a young 'U18' side is going to that. We tried to move it, the Lincs FA tried to move it but Trinity have other friendly commitments.

Seems a lot of teams go to Portugal. We're off there the week after next as well, playing SC Farense whilst we're out there. Beat Olhanense 2-0 out there last year.

All paid for. Don't you guys worry, concentrate on the scatter gun approach of summer recruitment being implement by Mr Evans

The jealousy also seems to be rising.. Shrewd business from us and our starting 11 is already superior to yours barring central midfield... An area that Caldwell is still looking for 1/2 more players...

Going Kidsgrove tonight to watch our 1st proper friendly. Looking forward to seeing some of the new players but the squad is split in half with us also playing Buxton at the same time.

Newcastle Town tonight, usually our curtain raiser but a midweeker this season. We will see who out of the trialists is still with us tonight and if any new arrivals are involved.

We lost 3-2 to French league Un side Valenciennes tonight on our Spanish tour.
The second friendly the side has dropped out so I presume it's all down the local bar for a three day bender before coming home

Beat Penrith 5-0. Similar to Saturday, 11 changes at HT, a few youth players and some trialists.

Next up is Workington tomorrow night.

We've had Andrew Fox playing on trial for us tonight at left back, played 9 games for Stevenage last season.
Anyone?

8-0 v Newcastle Town. New loanee Pyke got a Hatrick, De Freitas a couple think Green got one. Trialist Tom Walker scored a free kick too and Montano scored a stunner.

14 scored 0 conceded in 2 which is promising after last seasons shit show.

Need to start to decide on what we are doing with the trialists to get settled.

First half vs Newcastle was quiet disjointed and fiery at times, Montano would've probably seen red for 1 challenge if it'd been a league game. Second half team played the ball round really well and scored at will. 5 goals in to halves for Pike now, if he can take confidence from these games he could be quite a signing.
