Forest gearing for a playoff push. Watch.

12 unbeaten with 24 points, 5th best defence in the league. Just gone and tactically bossed top of the league and scored the first goal against them at home since September.

This team is unbelievably hard to beat and break down and we are getting stronger by the week.

Watch this space for 6th.

Not this season. 8 points behind Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham who are both showing no sign of slowing down. We battered Derby last week, won convincingly again today against a good Ipswich side. And unfortunate to have only picked up a point at Forest last week, should had won that as well.

Don't get me wrong, you deserved the lead when the red card was given but I don't think you'd have won so convincingly if Douglas weren't sent off (not that I rate Douglas ).

Your results are really impressive recently, I thought after the initial slow down that you'd fall away. I'll disagree that you should have beaten is, we deserved a point at least and were looking better until that ridiculous red card.

8 points isn't much, but it will require a hell of a run.

Think were on level points with Forest and we have no chance of troubling the top 6. Looking forward to finishing 14th this season, we've not had a boring mid table season in nearly a decade so were due one.

Why am I seeing Ipswich fans on Twitter calling for mick to go?

Absolutely dire football, crap defending, stubbornness (no doubt the reason for Oar's departure in the week as not given a chance even when the first team aren't performing), favourites who just aren't up to it! He's too loyal in some cases but then drops players who don't deserve to be dropped, i.e Bialkowski, dropped after his dad dies, only seen again for cup games, even when Gerken isn't performing.

Personally, I think it's Evans not dipping in his pocket to improve the team and McCarthy is just the one to attack

The football was pretty bad last season, lots of hoofball but combined with very good defending (at least last year), very effective in this division (and something we couldn't deal with at all)

Considering the squad you guys have, he's doing a good job to keep you consistently in the top 10.

The thing is between October and end of December 2014, we played 433 and were mixing up play from passing it around to a long ball (hoof ball sounds very much hit and hope). Then he changed to 442 at the start of 2015, partly forced upon him due to small squad and injuries, and we were poor. The problem is, he never went back to 433 when he had the chance.
He stuck with 442 for much of this season with Sears out wide, which wastes his ability.
I agree, he has done superb to get us where we are, but unless something changes, we are at a huge risk of stagnating/falling back. Our reserves just aren't good enough so more injuries will harm us.
Whether the issue is the owner not backing Mick or whether it's Mick being stubborn.
Parr and Oar left this month, no doubt due to not getting enough game time when players ahead of them have not been performing.
It's a tough situation considering where we were when Mick took over. We can't sack him now anyway, he's just signed a contract until 2018.
If it is the owner not backing him, I wonder how much longer he will take of it

Look at the bigger picture though, before he came in you were shite for a good few years, now your play off challengers without spending much money, and he's turned Daryl Murphy into one of the best strikers in the league,

Don't get me wrong, I do still give my full support to MM, he's doing such a brilliant job on limited funds. My frustration is that the owner doesn't back him. We fell away from top 2 last season, only scrapping play offs last day of the season last season, because we didn't properly strengthen in January. This season, much the same, except we have lost Oar and Parr, two very solid backups and have not replaced them nor likely to from what's been said. To quote Mick, We've got Larsen Toure and Tabby can play on the left. :ffs:

It's only a small section of Town fans who want Mick out though. I think the 1800 (including myself) staying until the very end at Brum singing both Mick McCarthy and Terry Connor's names says alot. In fact, as I said in the away following thread, the Birmingham fans were filing out St Andrews long before Town fans.

Fair enough, so the flack is aimed at the board rather than Mick then

For me, yes. They've been hiding behind FFP. Saying we've been close to the borderline with FFP the last two years, when in fact the losses in total even fell within the limits, so the footballing loss was well within FFP.

Everyone was surprised when we got rid of Mick too. From an outsiders point of view people think for the most half he is doing a decent job at his respective club. but being a fan of one his clubs it can be one of the most frustrating times of being a football fan.

I can sympathise with the Ipswich fans who want him out to be honest. He is the most stubborn manager I've known manage any club. He'll always pick his favourites, no matter how shit they are (see Stephen Ward and Karl Henry were both undroppable at Wolves even though we were getting hit for 4/5/6 goals every week). He's refuse to change his tactics because he doesn't want to admit he's got it wrong. He'll spend the majority of your transfer budget on shit Irish players. If Ipswich ever get promoted the first thing you should do if you want to stay up is to sack him. It sounds harsh I know, but with him in charge you'll be going straight back down. He's a decent Championship manager, but he sure as hell ain't good enough for the PL.

He also had a crazy record at Wolves for signing ex Sunderland defenders:

Gary Breen
Jody Craddock
Joachim Bjorklund
Michael Gray
Neill Collins
Carlos Edwards
Greg Halford

He also signed from Sunderland...

Stephen Elliot
Jemal Johnson
Kevin Kyle

From some people; but there certainly are others who are unhappy with McCarthy. Overall I think most fans are happy with the way the club is being run and managed.

As Mark alluded to above, McCarthy is an incredibly stubborn man and it seems to be very much his way or no way. For the players that buy into his way of doing things, it's great, and he's got the best out of some players who were overlooked or unwanted at their previous clubs. The flip side is that we end up with some players who don't ever get a proper chance in the team, even when things need freshening up, which is pretty frustrating. Some people see these failures, along with the lack of tactical variety, as reasons to get rid, but for me the positives far outweigh the negatives. We're in a far stronger position both on and off the pitch than we were under Keane or Jewell and I think the board would be crazy to sack him (they seem to agree - he signed a contract extension last week).

Pisses me off knowing Wolves released Sam Vokes and Andre Gray for apparently not being good enough.

Great fucking call that one!

To be fair didn't you get rid of Vokes when you got promoted? He's a decent Championship striker but you wouldn't want him starting week in week out in the Prem I don't think?

I liked Vokes when he was with us...didn't score much but was a great foil for Beckford. I guess that's what you get from him though...as it showed with Ings.

Vokes was very good for us to be fair, he was always given 10 mins from the bench each game and considering his goals return was very impressive. Think his injuries let him down mind.

Would definatly have kept him over some of the crap we kept that year.

Saying we were inconsistent whilst on an amazing run is slightly different to what's actually happened. We're now consistently shit.

Still reckon youll go up you cant fail surely with that squad. Not a bad time to get your bad run out the way. Boro top you 2nd hull 3rd burnley 4th grunters 5th ipswich 6th is my guess. Hull v burnley in the final with hull to win

If we can turn it around on Tuesday v Preston then we could still stand a chance. If this poor form continues for another 2 or 3 games, then we're done. Think top two are a stretch though.

We've actually weakened in this window so unless we get in a couple of good signings tomorrow, I really can't see us getting into the top 6. Every other team chasing those top 6 places has either strengthened or already had a stronger team than us.
