Quite good that we've played most of the teams around us away already, with home games to come in the new year. The home games against Charlton and Scunny next month are huge, win them both and we'll be in a very, very good position.

Surely we will have some money available after the summer window in which we got fees for Clarke and sell on fees for Nahki Wells and Wisdom. Although doesn’t mean we will spend it well...

Indeed - that’s circa £700k right there.

I think we’ll go for it come the next window. They have already outlined the fact that they need another target man to cover Wyke - and there aren’t many around...and the ones that are half decent WILL command a decent wedge. A playmaker, LW and Shay McArten to finish the second half of the season strongly is my prediction.

Hope you are right, especially re the playmaker. Teams have sussed out our predictability at home. Stick it out wide and put a cross in so 2 big defenders can spend the afternoon heading the ball out.

Think we will be out the play offs come January and not really in the promotion race. We’re only really in any good shape because of how good Wallace, McArdle and Burgess have been. We still can barely score and none of our strikers have scored more than 4. I predicted us a mid table finish at the start of the season and I think that’s where we will finish.

I feel this is pessimistic from a Scunny fan. We've been poor compared to last season from what I've seen but we are 7 points clear of 7th already, I'm genuinely surprised we are as high as we are. Will get slated by the cliche police but it's a poorer league. Oxford, Pompey and Posh might be sniffing around but their form seems stuttering at the moment.

Agree with this. Wigan's squad and Blackburn's recent results are ominous. Think January will have a huge bearing on final placings.

No chance we will go up this season. Alexander is a genius to get us this high. Blackburn and Wigan going up automatically with either Rotherham or Charlton joining them

A couple of years ago, most people wrote off Burton's chances of holding on, but they stuck to their guns and went up with Wigan.

I can see exactly the same thing happening this season with Shrewsbury.

Of the others in the top four, I reckon three will still be there at the end of the season, one of whom will be Bradford. One of Blackburn, Charlton and Scunny will fall away, and be replaced by someone making a run from down the table. This could be us, but on current form may well be Oldham.

We've lost 5 at home and managed a draw with Oldham but I see Oldham as the best team to come to us so far.

i honestly can't see Shrews holding off Blackburn or Charlton. Both clubs just getting the job done quietly, which is the best way to do it. At this rate we may struggle and the two autos go to Blackburn and Charlton.

January will be crucial for us - We have vital loanees that could be recalled and it will be interesting to see what backing Hurst gets in the push for promotion.
Throw in games vs Blackburn and Charlton and who knows.

I think the biggest signing you need to keep is Hurst, once the championship teams come circling then that will be the test. Good managers at this level will always be touted by so called bigger clubs in the championship.

Whilst I get ambition and wanting bigger and better things (and money talking) I would be disappointed if he left before the outcome of this season was known.

Not wanting to get too far ahead of ourselves, but having beaten Chartlon last game, they know have three really tough away games - Blackburn, Southend and Wigan, whilst we have a fairly decent home games v Bury, Northampton and Wimbledon. If form continues we will find ourselves in the playoffs going into the new year. IF is a huge word in football and we've seen that alot of the times it comes up to bite you in the butt! If we continue the momentum there won't be many sides to come to Fratton Park and get much out of us. Considering we've had a load of injuries and a few additions in January, who knows.....

Firmly think that we'll go up automatically now, keep up this good form and we'll be winning the league easily, we're averaging 3 goals a game recently, we're just outscoring everyone.

Think we showed on Saturday how poor we are. We are in a bit of a false postion at the moment due to bits of magic each game. We showed the past two weekends how much we rely on Funso Ojo, our midfield is non existent without him. We also are in desperate need of a striker who can score. A striker hasn't scored for us for almost two months now.

I definitely don't think you will be winning the league easily. I can see Wigan and Blackburn top 2, however I can't see us being "easily beaten" to the title or even you beating us at all. Massive game in March I think it is which could make all the difference, but at the moment we are comfortably beating the teams we should be and grinding results without ever getting out of third gear.

We have most goals scored, least conceded and the most clean sheets. Along with 5 point advantage and 6 first teamers who won this league 2 years ago. With Shrewsbury and Charlton coming up soon we need to make sure we take all 3 points from Wimbledon, Oxford and Northampton which are our next 3 away games - As we haven't performed brilliantly against teams around us so far only picking up 1 point from Shrewsbury, Blackburn and Bradford. I can see us thumping Shrewsbury on boxing day.

The same Blackburn that have scored 18 in their last 6, winning 5 of those? Took us a few games to get used to this league but now we're flying. Wigan have Ivan Toney up front. It's only a matter of time before we're top.

‘Not got out of second gear’ - love that. Like everyone else in the league has been going full pelt.

Most goals scored, least goals conceded. Comfortably on course to smash 100 points and possibly one eye on breaking that 106 point record. Takeover happening at Christmas to enable funds for signings in January. Oh and we don’t have perennial second half of the season struggler Tony Mowbray as our gaffer. Good luck Blackburn you’ll need it!

It isn't that I hate Wigan, but if Rovers won the league, it would at least make our decision to sell BD look worth it.

I do think it will be Wigan and Blackburn that go up automatic.. But I don't understand why so many Rovers fans especially on the Facebook L1 sites are so adamant they are going to steam roll past us win the league convincingly.

Yes they have a larger budget, yes arguably one of the leagues best players in Dack.. But Wigan have 6 players in the starting XI that have been here before and won this league 2 years ago. I think it will be tight but I think we will just edge it with us being 5 points clear.

My problem for Blackburn is I can't see where they are going to pick up 5 points, where we are going to drop them. Both squads are large and have cover unlike Shrewsbury who we have seen start to slowly grind to halt in the title race.

Some unbelievable arrogance in this thread, I could understand if there was a 10pt gap or something... and Shrewsbury weren't sat in 2nd but there's still plenty of time for bottle-jobs and an injury crisis or two.

Agree completely. Still a long season and all teams will drop points where they don't expect to. Some Wigan and Blackburn fans clearly have no respect for us minnows. Frost, gales mud heap pitches(including ours), injuries to key players, suspensions etc; a lot still to happen.

We play in Wigan pal, it rains every home game. We went to Blackpool in the middle of Storm Brian and won. Weather won’t affect anything. It’s not arrogance it’s just the acceptance that our two squads are far superior to the rest in this league. Sorry, but that’s the harsh reality.
