Clarke is decent, really like him. In fact our dip in form stared after his injury which I don't think is that much of a coincidence. We miss his energy and his link-up. No idea why you Bradford fans are so negative towards him, like him down here.

Can't say I've seen enough of Marshall to have an opinion. Don't think he's made that much of an impact but was injured for quite a while.
I think with Clarke it's the fact we all know he's got bags of technical ability, but he flatters to deceive. How many goals and assists has he got so far? Other than a purple patch with us early on in his career he offers little in the final third, which when we used him as a striker most of the time will make people think he is crap. Plus he picks up injuries every season without fail and is usually very poor when he returns. Saying all that he got a fantastic reception in October as he is a player who always gave his all, still a lot of respect for him up here but we just struggle to understand why a team would pay good money for someone who contributes not a great deal when it matters and is injury prone. We are scoring far more this season without him as well, although don't look as neat and tidy.

No doubt Marshall has the talent, he was lucky with us in that I can't really remember him getting any knocks or injuries last season. It must be just because of that why he hasn't taken off there yet, but if he gets a run of games he is quality. Although I think who's the manager plays apart, he was poor for Parkinson and I can imagine they weren't exactly mates. Where as McCall's biggest strength is man management and getting the most out of troubled players as he is doing with Paul Taylor. I can't imagine Robinson having the same influence on him tbh.

I liked Clarke but was crazy that we got money for him. He’s a nailed on free transfer. Aging, never really set the league alight, never really played at a much higher level than this.

While we're at it, how's Leon Best doing down there Charlton fans? His own goal on Saturday was his best contribution for us and he was on our books for 3 years, surely he isn't that bad now?

My only criticism of him would be not scoring enough but think he has a few assists.

A lot of our counter attacking went through him though early in the season, he was great at picking up the ball and moving it towards our more 'flair' players, a lot of Clarke's good work is off the ball too, stretching defenders etc which goes unnoticed as it's not glamorous but just as important. 100k is absolute peanuts in football, he's easily worth that.

Haven't seen him play personally but I can't say I'm that enthralled by him, he's only on a two month contract which straight away shows me we're more desperate than keen and his only contributions so far are scoring an own goal and releasing a video of the players getting tanked up on the train after a pathetic performance on an important day for fans against Portsmouth. Not a great start.

Just heard his season is over, shame for him as it probably means his career at this level will be over as well. He always struggled to come back from minor injuries, never mind career changers. Gutted for the lad, but the £100k looks even better business for us now.

Yep, and makes my comment about him being worth it look a bit silly however, the games he played for us this year he was looking full value.

Gutted for him and us.

Maybe 100k is peanuts to Charlton but I’d be pissed off if we dropped that on a player like Clarke when we’ve got someone like Paul Taylor for free. That said we paid over 200k for McCartan and he’s gash so I guess it’s all relative.

The same Blackburn that have scored 18 in their last 6, winning 5 of those? Took us a few games to get used to this league but now we're flying. Wigan have Ivan Toney up front. It's only a matter of time before we're top.
Heh. Merry Christmas pal, don't forget to mind the gap!

That gap ain't that big, plenty of time left pal ;)
Fully expect you to come up auto, cant see you filling that gap though. 7 points with a +17GD better off which counts as a point really. At the moment in all of the EFL we have thebest defence and GD with us only behind Luton in goals scored. To be honest too we haven't even got out of 2nd gear yet...
Have a good xmas day pal...

It'd be tough and probably require us to beat you at Ewood but could be doable, you never know with football.
Have good xmas too mate, hope you have a good Boxing Day too given who you're playing ;)

Thanks pal, me too. Hope we continue this good form. At the start of the season i expected us two and Bradford to go up. Still think this will happen. Lets hope we do Shrews, so u can overtake them. Have a good xmas u fellow northerners :-)

Surely Shrews fans can see they'll be out of the top 2 by New Year now?

Shrews keep going despite Blackburn and Wigan's Premier league quality squads.

Sorry I don't understand what you mean, other than the games Blackburn or Wigan play against Shrewsbury they have no bearing on Shrewsburys performances or points tally.
I wouldn't say either Blackburn or Wigan are doing to badly.
I think just a petulant comment from a fan of a smaller club.

A little stat
Shrewsbury have taken 81 points from our last 46 league games this year.

Another interesting fact is that Paul Hurst first game as Shrewsbury Manager was away at Southend November last season and we drew 1-1, only 2 players started yesterday from that line up 12 months ago and 8 of them are no longer at the club, some turnaround that.

I support Preston, a higher placed club, with better crowds than yourselves. You must be confused.

Not conceded a goal since 25th November. We’re doing just fine. Watching us at home is becoming a serious chore though.

Had a similar thing down here when Cook was our manager. Home games when teams came and parked the bus became increasingly frustrating as he doesn't have a plan B to break them down.

We're looking very good right now. Into 6th position with most of the teams around us to come to Fort Fratton. We still need a couple of midfielders and a striker if we're going to continue our impressive form into 2018.
