He’s learnt his lesson then because he had a plan B against Charlton after plan A produced nothing. Two up front and lump it long. We looked far more likely to score as a result, but we missed our chances again. Hit the woodwork in the 89th minute for two games running now.

Watching us at home is becoming a serious chore though.

Explains why no one ever does it.

In all seriousness, I'm glad our game has been pushed back. Not cuz I think we will be any better for the extra weeks of training, just because there's no way I am going to Wigan on a Tuesday so I'll be spared the massacre.

How do we think Wigan will do in the Championship? Presuming Wigan fans think they'll do fine - what's the difference to last season?

Do we think that the automatic race is 3-horse now? Bradford and Scunny not totally out of it but not sure they have enough to pull us/Wigan/Shrewsbury back even though they are only less than 8 points back. Struggling to see who will beat us at the moment. Earlier in the season we were picking up results without great performances but the last couple of games we’ve been great. Can’t remember the last time we went 16 unbeaten!

SF_ I meant Chinese New Year fuck off with your sarcastic likes :animatedf::fing:

You've been second for a day, I'd wait till you get a nice gap before you go spouting again.

We were never really in it. This team doesn't have the quality or the squad depth to compete with Blackburn and Wigan. We're a play off team at best.

I kinda feel we're the same, although the league table would suggest otherwise. As I said in another thread, we look tired and have done for some games now, 120 mins in midweek hasnt helped and although we dominated the first half yesterday and should have been done by halftime the manner of our throwing away the lead was very worrying and it looked like Donny would be the only team to take 3 points, despite playing with 10 men for the last 10 mins or so.
We have another midweek game on Tuesday, a competition that Hurst wants to win but imo we're best shot of it.
Like you, we cannot compete with Wigan or Blackburn either in squad depth or financially but the season is far from over.
Whilst 16 games unbeaten is excellent form, I expect Blackburn, and Wigan, to have a dip in form between now and the end of the season and they do have to still play each other. Just depends on whether anyone can capitalise?

I feel like you're in a very similar position to us last season. We competed and led the league all the season until January. Once January came about, we didn't have the finances or squad depth to keep up with Bolton or Sheff United. They could just buy whoever they needed to beat us. I think you're in the same place with Wigan and Blackburn.

What’s happening to Bradford? They seem to be falling off the pace quite badly recently. Is it injuries?

Don’t think injuries have helped them but long may it continue. I think the key to making the play-offs this year is just trying to be less shit than those around you.

4 straight losses including defeat at Yeovil, losses against (at the time) the four sides occupying the relegation spots. 7(?) at least home defeats. A paper thin squad which injuries added in is horrendously lacking, propped up by a Development squad which rather than developing separately to the first team, is essentially our bench as we’ve no one else to fill it. A lop sided team that changes every week.
No sign of any incoming adequate players 2/3’s of the way through January despite the desperation to fill the squad out, killed by the German owners transfer policy of offering cheap wages and high bonuses concentrating on ‘resale value’ over what’s actually best for the team right now, thrown in that they’ve really only signed Wyke who’s any good and he arguably wouldn’t be here had Sheff Utd not signed Hanson. All the while local press posts interviews of how well prepared we are, how we’ll bring in 3-4 first team ready players, how we’re targeting top two, when the reality is we’ve brought in some kid on loan from Derby.
McCall never comes across as at one with the board, it feels like a matter of time, when not if he goes, do the board trust him with the cash? He’s made some awful calls this season tacticaly and more recently has started moving players stupidly out of position (Nat Knight-Percival centre half playing upfront?), the football is as toothless as it comes and we concede weekly from set pieces or goalkeeping gaffs. That’s not helped by the physically weak squad we’ve assembled with no one willing to get stuck in, Jake Reeves’ top knot is his main worry, add in first choice keeper Colin Doyle has been out since November time and his two back ups are probably semi professional standard at best, we’ve kept one clean sheet I think in the time he’s been out.
On and off the pitch things feel atrocious at the minute, the fact we’re even still in the PO’s is a joke and you lot who haven’t over taken us yet probably need a word with yourselves, I think we’ve turned a 10 point cushion into 2. In the few days left of this window we need a massive massive turn around of the previous few weeks, for the board to open their purse and the players to stop gifting games away.

How is Adam Thompson doing for you lot? Showed great signs here obviously had a disaster at the disaster that is Bury.

He's had a disaster here unfortunately, had a number of chances and just can't perform. Our style doesn't really help defenders though, our midfield gets walked through at will and with our FB's often up field our CB's can often be left 2 on 2 or worse.

Shame. I bet he really regrets leaving us for a hundred quid more now. Had him down as a future captain the way he was going.

It won’t say a lot for this league if us, Wigan and Rotherham go up as we were all absolute dog shit last season. Saying that, the championship is a bit of a shark tank at the moment so maybe the teams at the bottom end are still a step above league 1 opposition. Either way, it’s not healthy if the teams coming down all get promoted the next season

It makes a big difference when two of those teams have massively more money than everyone else in the league and still quite a few players left over from the championship. I think Rotherham are doing okay due to shrew signings more than anything.

Anyone hazard a guess at what you guys received in parachute payments?

The difference in money in L1 compared to the championship is quite large too

I never thought about it that way. Has it ever happened before that all three relegated sides went back up again?

I said earlier in the season that it would be the clearest message yet that the gap between the Championship and L1 is the biggest it’s been possibly ever. Mainly due to money. The Championship is swimming with it due to rich owners, parachute payments, tv money and inflated transfer fees. It’s a PL 2.0 in all but name. It won’t get any better next season either. If Hull and/or Sunderland come down, they’ll go straight back up. As would Birmingham. The only club that would possibly struggle are Burton.

You lot will come back down straight away. Can’t wait till you go back to your rightful place in League 2. Can’t stand Wigan. It’s a rugby town, not a footballing town. Just like Hull. DW Arena is a terrible stadium as well. No atmosphere.

The Rugby will hopefully be getting the old heave ho from the DW when the takeover is complete if rumours are to be believed. Off to Leigh or Bolton for them. Exciting times ahead for us.

Didn’t you get knocked out last time you tried fighting our mob? At the Berkeley.
