Top of the league again :-)

We'll enjoy it while it lasts - Wigan definitely taken their eye off the ball ahead of the Man City cup game. Just a shame Blackburn got a late winner.....

Fantastic work from Hurst massive credit were it's due, Barnsley should be going all out to get him if their board has any sense.

LOL was thinking the same when yours went in late on, but seriously you've every chance of staying there till the end.
I think it's going to possibily take a record number of points to take 2nd place and you can't rule Rotherham out there flying at the moment.

In 25 years of watching us I've never seen a Wigan side put in less effort in the game than tonight, backed out of every challenge, every player was petrified of picking up an injury or suspension and missing the City game. No effort at all, barely even hit jogging pace.

Will be glad when City game is over because the effort the last two games has been a disgrace. Half hoping Cook just makes 10 changes for the City match as punishment, can't pick and choose when you want to be bothered.

Playoff race heating up.
Scunthorpe, Bradford, Charlton, Portsmouth and Peterborough all struggling for wins lately, whilst Rotherham have really hit form this year, with Plymouth, ourselves and Gillingham closing the gap on those other sides.
Should be interesting.

Now Grayson is here I’m less bothered about looking over our shoulder. If (more likely when) we drop out given others games in hand, I’m a lot more confident we’ll get ourselves back in for May.

Think this might be the most even league we’ve had in years. Don’t think there’s been a single game I’ve thought we were comfortably the better side and don’t think there’s been one we were comfortably the worst side. Think the play off race will go down to the wire with nobody comfortable in their for a while.

Looks like we’ll be resuming our league campaign out of the top two with the crunch match at Ewood coming up fast. Only one home win from our last five. Nervous times ahead.

If Wigan don't win this league with the squad they've got it might be the biggest bottlejob ever.

Not really, Blackburn have a squad just as good if not better. However if we don’t make top two, then I’d agree. And we’ve never won the playoffs..

You beat Blackburn in pretty much every position. Just looking at your lineup from tonight, pretty much every player in that starting 11 would walk into every other team in this league.

The only four players that would walk into any other team in the league are Powell, Morsy, Burn and Byrne. Apart from those four and maybe Walton, Blackburn have superior players. Graham, Mulgrew and Smallwood are better players than Grigg, Dunkley and Power. And if Gavin Massey walks into most teams in the league then it’s a sad statement as to how bad this league is.

Completely disagree on Smallwood don't rate him one bit. The thing is though, the players you mention, Mulgrew plays the left sided defence role so would compete with Burn who is a far better defender, it's offensively which makes Mulgrew so good, at fault for lot's of goals at the back but is the best finisher in the league, funny player. Smallwood plays the Morsy role, Dack plays the Powell role and so on,, Graham is 33 soon and has the same strike rate as a much younger Grigg this season.

Colcough should be starting, every game he's started we've won and he's given the opposition defence a torrid time, got pace, got quick feet and is direct and just runs at players.

Feels weird coming in here after the 8 or so games we had where we won just once, but 5 points off with a game in hand?..

It's not unlike a Darrell Clarke Bristol Rovers to go on a very good run in the second half of the season.

Interesting views on Smallwood. I never rated him at Rotherham. For all his endeavour, you can't have a central midfielder that you wouldn't trust not to have the ability for a simple sideways pass.

Anyway, Millers have hit some good form at the moment, but the type of team we are, we'll have a few bad runs. This Saturday is our toughest test yet. Doesn't get any tougher than away at top of the league Shrewsbury. A team that will more than match us for effort so we have to let our quality in midfield tell. If we can avoid defeat on Saturday, I think it will give us huge confidence going into the final few months of the season. If we lose, the measure will be how good we bounce back against struggling minnows Doncaster the week after.

One thing's for sure; the fans are back onside after losing faith with the club. There's a real togetherness that hasn't been seen since at least our good run under Warnock. The players won't get any sort of abuse if they lose on Saturday and that is key.

Most of our fans didn't rate him at first (myself included), but he's been amazing this season and fully deserved the praise he gets. Proper old school midfielder, exactly the player we needed at this level.

I'd say that's fair and he's probably also benefitting from relatively better players around him.

Trouble was, and I suspect you'll find the same if promoted, his flaws are widely exposed when he's up against a much better calibre of player. And we both know how drastically better the Championship is than this division.

That Peterborough result has made for quite a decent weekend.

Back into the top 6, gained ground on Scunthorpe and with the exception of Plymouth all the chasing pack dropped points.

Big game against Shrewsbury on Saturday now.

As long as we get something tomorrow we go top for the first time, for 24 hours at least until Shrewsbury play their game in hand on us. Could do with Wigan drawing in the cup to really start piling the fixtures up for them. The Wigan game in a couple of weeks is absolutely massive.

Cant see us making it this season but we are still in with a small shout as it stands. We still have Bradford (8th), Bristol Rovers (12th), Southend (13th), Scunthorpe (5th), Peterborough (9th), Portsmouth(10th), Rotherham (4th) and Gillingham (11th) left to play and we really need to be winning 9 out of our last 12 in my opinion to confirm our play off postion. Great effort from the lads and a decent foundation to build for next season!

Sorry Bobbin I completely forgot. What are the chances that our game with you will be postponed due to the 3 international players rule being exceeded?

Almost certain, barring any injuries.

Shame really as we would have brought in excess of 2k if this was on the Saturday. Still be a decent game under lights though

Awful display but churned out the win. Some decent games coming up so hopefully we can stay in the top 2 for a while
