by and large he’s been brilliant, couldn’t really ask for more from him in general, he’s made a few daft mistakes but he’s been the best we’ve had since back in the FL
Pleasing to hear. I'm sure Man Utd will keep loaning him out for a couple more seasons, hopefully he can keep progressing through the leagues, he was solid enough for us in League One, if you do go up maybe he'll come back next season.

A much needed win for us today. Think with a win on Tuesday we can go third? Don’t think Newport and Sutton are playing from memory

Now that we’re on the verge of achieving our first target (50 points), it’s time to look at what to target next.

As things stand, we’re in the race for promotion and we’ve now got 3 home games in a row, with Bristol Rovers, Salford and then in a potentially mouth watering fixture, FGR visiting GGL in the next fortnight

Nothing pretty about today but we got the three points and it’s all that matters. All of a sudden 4 points out of 6 and two clean sheets in a row doesn’t look quite so bad.

FGR on Tuesday, bigger game for us than it is for them really but if we can get a win then we’re right back in it.

Realistically I think the autos are a long shot for us. We need a striker or two to get into the playoffs. We also are playing sides above us away rather than at home.
Big game at Swindon next week to see where we are Realistically

Can Bristol rovers enter this thread perhaps ? Looking at the table , they have been slowly climbing unannounced and are not that far off the playoffs. It’s not impossible.

It’s about time that I join conversation on this thread.
Far too early in season to gloat but it is looking good for my team.
Still work to be done and points to be won so I checked how much more FGR require compared with previous seasons. [League 2 only]

69 points minimum for play off
78 points minimum for 3rd in table
79 points minimum for 2nd in table
82 points minimum for title.

But Northampton’s 99 points title win in 2016 is an almost insurmountable mountain to overhaul but a target that FGR must aim at.
Possible yes, probably no.

Well with what went on yesterday, I think that’s Mansfield joining Forest Green in League One with the rest of us battling for that last auto spot and the playoff lottery.

I’m happy with our squad and if we can bounce back with a win today then can look at putting Saturday’s result as a one off.

It can disrupt things though - I still think of our January window under Flitcroft and he ruined the team with Jorge Grant and Ajose.

Our 99 points came with a few draws towards the end of the season once the title was wrapped up too.

Think our record could be in danger.

We took our foot off the gas in our final 5 or 6 games when we won it, it was basically in the bag by March when we beat Crawley, then the title was sewn up with the win at MK a couple of weeks later.

Yeah similar with us. We went 12 points clear on 73 in Feb after winning 10 in a row and didn’t break the 100 barrier. Disappointing.

Big game for us tonight anyway, have to win really. Hopefully Lubala will be ready to play a part, think we got it done in time.

Start planning trips to league one grounds forest green fans.
It’s a question of when not if.
Hard to plan next season as 7 teams will change places between then and now. I expect Rotherham and Wigan to depart and the play offs - god knows.
To think you might be playing Sunderland at your place must be an exciting prospect, plus Pompey, Wednesday, Ipswich and whoever comes down from the championship…maybe derby.
League one is a step up, but from what I’ve seen of you - there is nothing to be frightened off.

I don't know, I think L1 is absolutely mental this season.

The money involved is incredible, and it's not until you look at the table and see Wednesday, Portsmouth, Ipswich, Charlton, Sunderland as big sides, you've then got the likes of Wigan who have a bob or two this season, Wycombe with their Championship money, Rotherham (yo-yo Club), Oxford (well established at L1 level) and MK Dons (been threatening a season like this for a couple of years), Plymouth are a decent size, likewise Bolton and all of a sudden that's half the division!

Going to places like Sunderland, Sheff Wed, possibly Derby, Ipswich etc is going to seem pretty mental tbh, if we do go up. The sort of clubs we’d have celebrated being drawn against in the FA Cup.

I remember everyone celebrating in the Village Inn when the Sky cameras were there and we drew Derby in the 3rd round in 09.

That was a mad game, if you had told us back then that one day we might be playing Derby in the league one day (unless we bottle it completely and Rooney and his team complete the unlikely miracle) I think most people would have laughed at you...mind you, the prospect of a league game against teams like Sunderland, Sheffield Weds and Ipswich...flippin heck!

...maybe it is time to start practice singing "Premier League to Forest Green" again, we might need it!

I remember when we got to the championship and we had villa, Newcastle, wolves, Leeds and the like down at our place.
Singing songs to us about how shit our ground was and our wank support.
The best song we sang back summed it up -
“It’s Burton away, it’s Burton awaaaay, how shit must you be, it’s Burton away “
Loved every minute of it. Apart from the dickings..

Decent point for us tonight and just on the edge of the playoffs. Huge game at the hobby club on Saturday, win that and all of a sudden will feel we are right amongst it. No reason we can't do it, they looked utter garbage against us in the first game and frankly were lucky to not get battered never mind fluke a win.

Sadly you probably won't be going to Bolton when you get promoted as Masi has informed us (again) that Bolton are by far and away the very very best team in League 1 so I expect them to roar past our struggling little clubs in the next few weeks. :gr:

Other than that it’s very tight

Recently both Vale and Exeter rattled us by pressing high and keeping a good shape, making it difficult for us to play through midfield or use our wing backs. Those two clearly have better quality then most in their sides which does make you wonder how much we’ll need to improve if we do go up.

There are gaps in our formation if you know how to exploit them and I’d imagine more teams will work us out in league 1.
