Your run in is quite tough, can't really see you in the autos
We’ve took 16 from 18 points against Mansfield, Exeter, Crawley, Sutton, Bradford and Barrow. So we don’t mind the rough ones! It’s probably Oldham and Walsall I’m more worried about with our record against the bottom half.

Bizarrely we’ve won against FGR, Swindon and Bristol Rovers but lost at Colchester, Oldham and Rochdale

probably never

let’s see how tuesday goes - no idea if it’ll work or not but we’ll come going for you. id take the point but let’s see
Mansfield were my early season promotion favourites and remained so throughout the season.
They usually do well v FGR, so I would not be overly surprised if Mansfield secure 4 points against FGR in next month.

Last weekend of the season-

Exeter v Vale
Mansfield v FGR

Could be quite a day if those are the top 4 at the time
On paper looks exciting, but I expect FGR & Exeter up by that point which will no doubt work in Mansfield’s & Vales favour - unless the title fight is still on

Let’s see.

From what i know of FG they like time on the ball and to pass it about, we don’t do that.

FGR’s game is all about getting the ball out wide to whip in crosses for Matt and Stevens. Knowing it’s going to happen is one thing, stopping it is another.

Considering how tight it is at the top it may be better this time to be playing more sides around you than less, it’s the best way to remove the competition.

Gonna be Salford though isn’t it L1 welcoming them with their inflated wage bill 1,000 home gates and 100 away support.

Salford need championship football ASAP L1, L2 doesn’t even now get the 2-3 line reports anymore because press deemed women’s football more important……unless they can get into championship the world will never know about the class of 92 week in, week out!

We are making a very flimsy effort to get into the play offs. It's been the same old story for most of the season, lots of good approach play but never really looking that dangerous. We definitely missed McKirdy. Can't help thinking it's another 2 points dropped against a pretty limited side. Newport at home next Saturday now becomes massive. Lose that and I think we're back for another exciting episode of league 2 football next season.

Have said for months now that PV and Mansfield are the teams best placed to take that last auto spot. With 4 of our final 6 including teams around us it really is make or break. Can't see us winning the playoffs

As I said before, results never run how you think they will at this time of the season. We could have quite easily lost yesterday but for a great second half display. Similarly, teams like Mansfield, Exeter or Bristol Rovers aren't going to win every game, and nor will we. Football just doesn't work like that. One team currently on 66 points will fall away, one will maybe pull clear at the top.

Even Forest Green could have a disaster over the last few games. Our management keep saying that there's no point speculating until every team has played 46 games....just take one game at a time. Each team is bound to have a bump in the road before the end of the season.

The thing is, that 100 away support is actually their core support. The rest are just fans of other clubs coming to watch a game of football. They're completely unsustainable and will drop like a stone once their owners get bored.

It makes me sick that the real clubs all around them are scrapping to go up and fans are so passionate and they are just literally a vanity project.

I'm actually beginning to think we could win the league.

We look so strong defensively now. It's just a question of whether we can score enough goals.

Yeah I don’t feel as confident about the playoffs compared to the last couple of times we’ve been in them.

In 06/07 we were the form team in the division and had a great squad. From NL it wasn’t even a doubt in my mind tbh. This time around I don’t think there’s a clear favourite for the POs, unless Exeter dropped out of the autos

I have the same feeling. The last 2 play offs we went into we had Rickie Lambert and the snake. Collins is ok in spurts but lacks composure in front of goal too often to be relied on.

Exeter are nailed on for automatics...I've discounted them as a threat. Best team we've played at Vale this season and they had injuries.

Mansfield and Bristol Rovers are the two biggest threats and form teams. It seems that both dominated their games yesterday and are in a similar vein to us.

It's going down to the last game I reckon. I just hope Exeter are promoted then but can't win the title!

If we did drop out then we'd have had a big drop in form, which wouldn't put us in a good state for the playoffs.

Although I do appreciate everyone's faith in us not ballsing it up at this stage!

Well we might have Nombe back for the playoffs.
I'm just the antidote to DL...

FGR and Exeter should now get the jobs done from where they are, the third spot is still very, very much up for grabs.

Jevani Brown has turned out to be a very key signing for Exeter, the damage he's done playing for them in that number ten role IMO has looked key to what they do. He's been miles better than he was at Colchester.
Jevani is probably my favourite player we’ve signed since Stockley. He’s been brilliant this season with so many assists and since he’s added goals to his game he’s been invaluable for us. Just shows how fans should never decide how good or bad a new signing will be…Colchester fans said he was lazy and a bad egg in their squad, yet he’s been anything but for us.

Win on Saturday and I'd hope to be celebrating promotion at the Barrow game on the 26th.

Yep completely agree with that. I feel like those squads could also beat anyone as well, I definitely don’t feel like this team could beat everyone in this division - we make it too hard for ourselves IMO.

Still, I’m enjoying the ride

Hopefully we’ll remove Sutton from this equation at the weekend. Bad enough being in the same division, let alone the one below. Plus I’d be chuffed for them getting the Wombles for a derby again.

Just booked Vegas 2nd May until the 10th.

No need to be here for the Port Vale game. Promotion at home to Rochdale, the title confirmed away to Northampton just like they did at our place that time(or was it 100 points they celebrated at SJP?)

The only question is; do I set my alarm to even watch the game on ifollow on my firestick? Would mean an early start...Or maybe watch it after the clubs have just closed. I guess it could still mean something for Port Vale so might still be a good (and comfortable knowing it's irrelevent) game for viewing.

As good a position we're in, we all know this club has a history of bottling it, so until I see a "P" next to our name, I won't be celebrating too much.

Like has been said, I do appreciate the fact that the rest of the league seem confident we'll do it. Which is why it'll be even more hilarious if we were to bottle it, finish 4th then lose to Salford in the play-offs.

On the flip side, since it got announced, I have maintained it'll be the Barrow game that sees us go up.

League One is essentially League One A and League One B this year, there seems a large gulf between the bottom sides, on PPG around 43-44 points keeps you up this year which is crazy as you usually need 50 and there is some real dross at that level like Crewe, Doncaster and AFCW who would struggle at this level with the sides they have currently.

Obviously the top sides a littered with some massive clubs as well punching way below their usual level, League Two is fairly even this year as always.

There’s really no outstanding team in L2 - which is unusual as 1 or 2 always seem to be well ahead of the rest in previous seasons. I wouldn’t imagine whoever goes up will be much of a presence in L1.

I’m fairly mellow about where we end up this season. The change in just about everything concerning the club has been huge - ground redevelopment now definitely on the go, crowds up massively despite overall horrendous home form, embargo finishes at the end of the season. There’s only one way the club are heading - whether this season or not. Even Garner has changed tack which has been refreshing.

We really cant be much worse than we were last night, think we are still capable of claiming the last automatic place ,if we get oates back, its no good relying on akins and bowery up front ,really couldn,,t understand cloughie not playing perch from the start and putting hawkins up front ?.Really do think there was that thought that it was a free hit

We'll finish in PO's minimum in L1 next year. More likely to be in the autos. If that's not presence then I'm not sure what is.

I can see Port Vale winning their next four games and Mansfield winning their next five (Scunthorpe and Carlisle away, Stevenage, Sutton and Crawley at home.) I can see Exeter getting ten points from their next five games which leaves all three teams on 81 points with two games left each to play.

Vale’s last two games are Bristol Rovers and Exeter, whereas Stags are Salford and FGR. It’s going to be tight.
