Personally, I think you're too strong and will buck that trend if you finish second and definitely make the final, too good over two legs.

The final obviously is a big throw of the dice but I'd think you're more likely to come through the play offs than Barnet would be.

Hope that's the case, but Eastleigh and Forest Green, the favorites to finish 5th, both took 4 points off us this season and are the only two teams to beat us at the Mem. I'd be more confident taking on FGR out of the two, our loss was with us down to 10 men and I still think we should have got something out of the game and I personally think we should have beat them away, but that being said, I think games against both could go either way.

Miagsy, you have just summed up my entire thought pattern on this weekend and the play offs.

It's like I wrote it myself

From a Barnet point of view I'd be pretty sanguine about facing Eastleigh. I didn't go to the home match but in the away match we pretty much had their measure and I'm confident that we would have their measure again if we ended up playing them in the play-offs.

If Woking, Eastliegh and Barnet all make the play-offs with us we have won 6 out of 6 games against them this season, so would probably lose in the play-offs!

Only Bristol in the top 7 we have failed to beat home or away this season luckily we won't face them until Wembley if we get there, but I don't think I want to face them even at Wembley though it would be nice for us to win a play-off in front of a record conference play-off crowd, which is probably the only two team combination currently that are likely to beat it.

I'd like either Eastleigh or Woking (unlikely) in the semi's and then anyone but Bristol in the final if we got there.

boring stats blog but some mariner has posted a blog showing 3rd as the most successful finishing postion in the conference play-offs, so we can all but hope that is something in our favour too :p https://richmariner.wordpress.com/2...y-off-statistics-that-are-in-grimsbys-favour/

As I've said before Frealaf, you've got the advantage of previous play off experience over Bristol R. Though that could only be my way of thinking, as some say it doesn't quite work out that way. I still think it's a good thing though.

Great minds think alike Gassy.

I had to google the definition of "sanguine". Time waster.

To be fair, we've got a fair bit of playoff experience in our squad, but I think all of the potential squads - say for it's example us, Grimsby, Eastleigh and FGR, all have good experience in our respective squads.

Didn't know this. Thought only a couple of your players had any play off experience, so my reasoning of Grimsby starting as favs is wrong.

Luton and Wrexham were both in the play-offs three seasons running and never won them.

Remaining fixtures:

Eastleigh
Lincoln (A) - Probably a win, but we have a habit of turning up only to play the better sides this season, so wouldn't be surprised if we got something.
Kidderminster (H) - Kiddy are dire, home win.

Forest Green
Gateshead (A) - Bit of an awkward fixture, albeit with the opponents having nothing to play for. Draw.
Dover (H) - Should win, but another tricky one.

Macclesfield
Dartford (H) - Should be a gimme.
Torquay (A) - Toss-up between draw and away win. Probably the latter.

Woking
Nuneaton (A) - Should win.
Halifax (H) - Draw.

Will go for Eastleigh and Macc to make the cut.

I think that is a fair assessment of the Rovers v Rovers games, though I reckon a draw was probably the right result at our place and you definitely created enough chances at the Mem to have earned a share of the points. Not too much between our teams when it comes to it, many on our forum hope we avoid you altogether...but, whilst your play-off place is assured, we still have two tricky games to extend our season, fingers crossed!

Interesting point of view, I thought we outclassed you at your gaff (although I was only watching on Spain )and you grabbed a lucky lucky goal. At our place though, I thought you deserved the 3 points

From our point of view:-

Bristol - We took 4 points off them (drew at home and won away)
Grimsby - We lost 1-0 at home & 2-1 away.
FGR - We drew home & away
Macc - We lost 2-0 at their place but thumped them 4-0 at our place.

I can't see Woking getting into the mix now.

"Eastleigh have to go away to Lincoln, the land of the giants."

 Four of the back five under 6 foot, and a midfield that has Power and Nolan in it...

And Ben Tomlinson is 5 foot 8! Maybe if did have a team giants like the rest of the league we wouldn't get out muscled in games so much.

Aren't you going for the title anyway?
Decided against it. We wanted to become first side to play at both the old and new Wembley whilst residing in non-league on both occasions instead.

N.B. I highly doubt this is a factual comment in any way whatsoever.

Indeed that is incorrect, we were the first, in the first competitive club match at the new Wembley in the Trophy final in 2007, having been to the old one in the Trophy in 1987.

We're one of the few professional teams never to have played at Wembley.

Sods law that in our PO years, it was at Cardiff.

Well we are (maybe???????) the only team to have a 100% win record at the Old Wembley, yet a 100% lose record at the new Wembley.
Beat that peasants...... ;) :D

Not sure that one will be true, without looking it up there could be an English or Welsh international who scored at one for their country and the other for their club, the range of seasons it could have happened in is far greater of course.

Down to the final game for the title then. Bristol have to win, and Barnet only need to win if Bristol do.
Barnet v Gateshead
Bristol v Alfreton
Gateshead obviously already on holiday but Alfreton have to win to survive though Bristol should still win it comfortably.

As for the play-offs, down to three for 4th and 5th with any of Eastleigh, FGR and Macc that could finish in either position.
Eastleigh v Kidderminster
FGR v Dover
Torquay v Macclesfield.

All three opponents already on holiday with FGr probably having the hardest of the three but should still be comfortably winners as should the other two. Anybodies game for those three, with Macc the only side that can't slip up as even a draw won't be good enough.

What's the highest points not to get in the play offs? A win gives us 80 which you would have thought would be plenty!
