I still think Grimsby are just about in with a shot. Macc may well respond like they did after losing 4-0 at our place.

Emphasis on just about, mind (i.e. one or two bad sets of results for Grimsby and it's over)

We're one loss away from being out of it but calling off Macc is silly. They've still got two games in hand and a juicy game against Rovers, they could win that and throw yet another spanner in the works.

Its the manner of our performances though that's the problem. We've actually been dogshit since we beat you.

The bonus for us is we are only at home once in the next 5 games, the bad thing is its Eastleigh at home. But we have a good chance not to drop too many in the next five and could be right in there at the start of April.

Though as you say we can't afford to lose one unless the other three do too which is very unlikely. for me its still Bristols to lose, but Macc have a great chance if they win their games in hand and beat Bristol. If not Barnet have it. We are the outsiders and will remain so till the end, we have to rely on three other sides to lose while we don't, and that is too much of a long shot to consider for me.

I'd say it was a four horse race.

Bristol still play Macc so at least one will definitely drop points.

We will drop points somewhere, am absolutely certain of that.

Bristol are in the driving seat but it's still wide open imo.

It's a one horse race. Bristol have it sewn up.
No, seriously there is no point claiming it is only between us and Bristol as there are still to many games to go. One defeat by either of the top two and it lets the two below back in. The six pointer between Bristol and Macc could be huge and very influential. Both the current top two have some difficult games between now and then so I'm certainly not going to call it anything less than a 4 horse race until that game at the end of March.

The only chance Barnet have of going up automatically is if they clinch it on the last day of the season. This club couldn't hold down its dinner let alone top spot.

Yes if we win our games in hand and beat Rovers then we'll be "back in it", but we won't. We've played crap since being half decent against Grimsby but got away with it and today was, in many ways, no surprise. Need Turnbull back fit again to help us secure what is by no means a solid playoff position; we've played rubbish whenever he's not been in the team and only won 2 out of 9 now.

Er....2004/05?
Club has changed since then. No backbone at the club. Both games against Grimsby were prime examples....Barnet were never in a million years getting anything from them.

Not that it would have been deserved but we almost won it minutes before the end, too.

Silly comment.

But that's the point....We didn't win and we let in 2 goals in injury time. It was typical Barnet.

Didn't we score late on to beat Grimsby at home last season?

I'm not sure how you can say that this is typical Barnet when we haven't been in this position for many a year!
Besides, apart from the Northampton match, we won all of our last-day relegation battle cliffhangers.

Well everything I've said so far has proven to be true, so I'd say I'm being correct more than pessimistic.

I thought we were going to lose at in-form Altrincham? ;)

You go away for a couple of weeks and this happens. Now it's exciting.

A win at Altrincham was very important as it sends out the message that we are still here for the long haul.

One wrong out of twenty isn't bad going!

In all seriousness, it does look like the scoreline didn't reflect the game itself. Like so many of our matches this season I think it would've been very different had that early red and pen not happened.

Performances are irrelevant, as is the 'what if' scenario. The bottom line is that we travelled to an in-form side who ran Bristol Rovers close just a week or so ago and we came away with a 3-1 victory. Probably their heaviest home defeat of the season and our 10th away win of the campaign and the 12th time we have scored 3 or more in a game this season.

I'd happily scrape an unconvincing 3-1 victory against FGR on Saturday whilst Eastleigh will hopefully make Bristol Rovers pay for not being able to score more than one goal a game. Easy ;)

Seems like we're even more down to the bare bones on Saturday:

http://www.bristolpost.co.uk/Bristo...me-Eastleigh/story-26106755-detail/story.html

It's funny really, our run of wins have been without our best center midfielder, our back up center midfielder & our star striker signing. Now the back up to the back up in center midfield has gone back.

A lot has been made of us only scoring 1 goal a game, we've done that without our best player and other key players missing. Other teams fall apart when they miss their key player.

That story seems a bit weird to me. You are down to 16 players so you played a reserve game?
If you had only 16 players fit then how can you manage a reserve game only 48 hours after playing at Gateshead?
Suggests to me that you have more than 16 to choose from.
