The club are equally to blame. They initially leaked the talks and had their henchman in the media demand he signs otherwise he's a greedy and ungrateful brat. Sterling isn't without blame but I can see how he resents Liverpool.

Yeah the club could have done things better too I accept that. Its becoming an unfortunate trend that the powers that be there make consistent fuckups a few times a year these days. :sna:

Good on him I say, nice to see a young lad who wants to look back on a career of trophies not cash.

Yeah Liverpool have handled it poorly, its blown up in their faces a bit too. Contract sagas are so tedious, we should only hear about when a player signs one or is sold.

I don't think Liverpool would sell to us anyway but I hope we aren't in for him, we've already got enough wide players with Depay coming in. I still think City is the best fit for him at the moment.

Sterling for Walcott? Swap deal could be on the cards.

I think the issue for us with Sterling is that he doesn't know what it means to win trophies, and our team win just about everything.

Maybe if ryan sits down with him and changes his mindset ?

It's difficult to say without being in that position, but if I was earning around £4-5m a year then I genuinely don't think it would be about the money for me either. What does it really matter if I am earning £4m or £5m? Happiness or ambition and all of those other things are surely far more important when you're earning money of that sort, the money almost becomes irrelevant.

I say we better sell him for his inflated price right now. If we don't sell him, he could buy his contract out next season and we would be left with nothing.

Won't be anything inflated about it now, knowing he wants to move has shaved a bit of that price tag right off.

I don't think that'll make a difference if there are a number of interested parties.

We will never sell sterling for more than what we can right now, unless he signs a new contract (which won't happen).

How much do you think De Gea will accept? :bg:

One of the best keepers in the world wanting to move to the biggest club in the world vs an over rated teenager wanting to move on because he's just seen a club legend effectively retire with nothing tangible to show for it and fears ending up the same way. Different situations entirely mate. I reckon De Gea would take 900k, you know? :ohy:

All I remember was Liverpool fans saying he was the most talented teenager in Europe and that he could get straight into Real and Bayern's starting XI until he said he wanted to leave, then he was suddenly shite and inferior to Ibe in every way possible :dk:

I'm not sure why they changed their opinion so quickly and drastically to be honest.

Think you made a mistake there - you should have typed won, not win.

TBH i think sterling will go (i know, very bold prediction) , but i think he probably shouldn't. As John Barnes said, he hasn't achieved anything, and if he's saying he wants trophies then go to Man.City or Chelsea and sit on the bench for eternity. His only option would be to go abroad somewhere in my opinion, so he might be able to win trophies and get in the starting XI week in, week out. PSG? Maybe, as Lavezzi and Cavani are apparently unsettled. Bayern? No way. Real? No. Barca? No. Juventus? Would be my choice. Roma? That's also quite possible.

He'd get into City's first eleven without any problems.

Yeah, it's impossible to watch Spanish, Italian and German football these days isn't it? It's also impossible to watch football and make your own mind up about a player without listening to pundits as well. Fantastic point well made.

Real and Bayern? lol that was United fans after he said he won't sign the contract. Maybe I remember it differently
