DSY isn't a L2 player.
Odejayi is a decent option, but don't pin all your hopes on him. 10 goals maximum and he will hit the 100's in offsides and fouls against. He would have been decent in the Conference I suppose.

Sorry, meant to quote the Barnet fan.

How has DSY done for you this season? A lot on our forum are admirers as he seems to have a blinder whenever he's played us either for yourselves or Cambridge.
Bit 'meh'. Wasn't as good as last season and seemed to take him a while to get going. Once he did, he got sent off twice for violent conduct so missed 6 or 7 games.

Very much a London lad and thought twice about coming as far north as us when we first signed him.

To be honest we were close to signing DSY not too long ago, luckily we got Akinde instead but he seems like a good player whenever I've seen him. With Allen's style I reckon he'd do as much, if not better, job than Gash. Definitely Charlie Mac.

Odejayi is just a blast from the past who has that league experience, while being a better player than Mac as well. Quite like them both.

^ Yeah, he'd have been fine this season for you just not in L2.

Ben Tomlinson reckons he wasn't offered a new deal so someone's telling porkies.

None on our released list surprising. Hope Koumas and Hill stay, that's about it - the rest of the squad can fuck off.

Were the previous players obviously not up to scratch? or not capable of playing in the style Pennock wants? or just bad apples?e I;v

You've let some high quality players go and from what I've seen of him and his excellent handling of the shenanigans at our place, Pennock doesn't seem the type to let ego get in the way.

But hey, maybe I've got it completely wrong on Pennock :bg1:

It is hard to say whether they were up to scratch or not, the fact that the team had achieved a tenth place finish three seasons in a row and then fifth in the season just ended, suggests that some may not have been.

Clearly the majority of us only see the players from our team during games and probably not much besides so it is really hard to gauge whether they get on with the manager, or have issues adapting to his style. I think many of us feared when Pennock arrived that we might end up as the non-league Stoke City, as time goes on it seems those fears weren't unfounded. I just wish his playing style wasn't quite so one dimensional. We have players who are pretty good with the ball at their feet, it would be far better if we could make the best of them. At times it feels like he has been given the keys to a Ferrari but insists on filling it with diesel.

Moyses hasn't openly come out and said he's offered him a deal on the table either.

No doubt Bencherif, Miller etc are shopping around too so I'm absolutely baffled.

I reiterate - I am not going next season full stop if he remains in charge. I was as good as my word when I said I wouldn't go for the rest of this season after seeing both manager and players together out on the lash the day after the Woking defeat, nothing has changed. There is absolutely nothing likeable about this football club currently.

I totally disagree with this. Odejayi is definitely not the sort of player we need and I think you've underplayed Charlie Mac's contribution.

I class him like Cook. Both great at the start of the season, not great after the first third. Wouldn't be too unhappy to see them both released, or on lower contracts/part coaching roles like Nurse and Stack

Odejayi was a great player for us, hard to believe that it was 13 years ago! I've still got a mug with his shirt on it.

Wouldn't really want him back though, we've made a habit of bringing back former strikers in recent seasons, with the likes of Griffin, Mangan and Fleetwood, but unfortunately none really worked out.

Odejayi is going backwards.

He did well for us in one season having been offered a new deal off the back of being applauded off in what all CTFC fans thought would be his last game. Having done well in that one season we cashed in with Barnsley paying £200k for his services. He gained plaudits for his goal against Chelsea in the cup and has gone backwards ever since. His miss against Cardiff in the semi-final is what he was like 95% of the time. See also our game against Newcastle in the FA Cup 4th Round in 2006 when he blasted wide having done the difficult thing in holding off Boumsong and rounding Shay Given.

Watch us go and sign him now...

The playing football manager with a real team, we're fucked!
Not offering your best outfield player a new deal is a total disgrace.
If Connor 'made of glass' Robinson is the answer upfront then what was the bastard question!

Bit baffled by some of ours, tbh:
Players under contract until the end of the 2016/17 season:
Paul Farman
Alan Power

Players under contract until the end of the 2015/16 season:
Jordan Burrow*
Tony Diagne*
Kegan Everington
Aidan Grant
Elliot Hodge
Conner Robinson
Alex Simmons

* made available for permanent transfer or season-long loan

Players out of contract who have been offered new terms for the 2015/16 season:
Hamza Bencherif
Nat Brown
Tom Miller
Jon Nolan

Players out of contract who will not be retained for the 2015/16 season:
Jake Caprice
Todd Jordan
Arnaud Mendy
Sean Newton
Delano Sam-Yorke
Ben Tomlinson

Scholars offered professional terms for the 2015/16 season:
Andy Wright
-------------------------------
Tomlinson and Caprice were offered deals, so I assume they've rejected theirs.

Burrow being transfer listed is a weird one, too. That now means we could lose both our top scorers for next season. :ffs:
FWIW, my thoughts:

I think CM said we'd end up with 5 youngsters in the squad so I'm assuming Hodge, Everington, Grant, Simmons and Robinson (possibly pushing it at 20(?)), so I wouldn't expect any more that age.

Burrow - Still has a use I think. Given that CM's said he wants to go 4-4-2, Burrow seemed to thrive on balls into the box, so why try and discard him?

Diagne - Terrible. Bye.

Bencherif - Agree on offering a new deal.

Miller - As above.

Brown - Would have let him go I think, but if he's signed up again as a back-up then it wouldn't be *that* bad.

Nolan - Tbh, I'm not sure I would have bothered with him.

Jordan - Not bothered.

Mendy - Thought he would have been ok as a back-up midfielder, tbh.

Newton - Obvious as early back as December that he wasn't going to stay, so no surprise although you'd obviously want to keep him.

DSY - Not been in the same in this loan spell.

Caprice - A poor mans Newton i.e. better going forward than defending. Not overly bothered. Would prefer a more solid full back unless he returns a Newton assist rate.

Tomlinson - Obviously would have kept. Something's not quite adding up between what him and CM are saying.

Given that CM didn't want to be used as a bargaining tool with Tomlinson, why has he therefore offered Miller and Bencherif deals? They'll be doing exactly the same and will be in more demand than Tomlinson.

Cos he's prat Luke, for a 'successful' businessman away from football, when it comes to managing players and their contracts he comes across as totally clueless.
As you say Miller and Bencherif will do exactly as Tomlinson but I would guess Tomlinson would have been more like to stay and reading between the lines wants to if what he says in the paper is correct. Have been told Miller is off to Burton Albion so Moyses' plan falls down straight away, what total nob.

Matty Brown, Kieran Charnock and Ibou Touray not offered new deals with us. Also, Kingsley James hasn't responded to an offer from months ago so he's off elsewhere it looks, although we're entitled to a small fee for him.

Richard Hill has made us aware that Chris Todd has been offered the role of Assistant Manager / First team coach for the coming season and at this time he is contemplating the offer before deciding where his future lies.

Richard has also told us that several weeks back Brian Howard made him aware that at the end of the season he would not be extending his stay at Eastleigh as he was going to pursue other avenues and that during the final few weeks of the season he would try his upmost to see the club into the playoffs.

Yemi loves it at Eastleigh.
Although i am surprised he's been offered a new deal, which i suspect will be on lower terms to last season.

Yemi begged to come back and was welcomed back with open arms, hence why he has been offered a new deal for next season.
TBF, you seemed to have rejuvenated him with his spell at Woking working out well and giving him some confidence, but he will be a bit part player for us again next season if he signs.

ATFC player retention list: Bradley, Graham, Heaton, Ironside, Johnston, & Wood Young players Keane, Leesley & Thanoj have been re-engaged

I am to presume the rest have been released. Pretty satisfied with that and pleasantly surprised that Bradley and Wood and Thanoj have stayed on.

Bit gutted to lose Tom Shaw though!

Release list then:

Matty Brown
Kieran Charnock
Gareth Roberts
Ibou Touray
Jamie Menagh
Peter Winn
Liam Blake

Gareth Roberts is the surprise, he's had a good season but at 37 going on 38 you don't know how much left there is. He's the ultimate professional though and can still do a job in this league. Matty Brown is just a bit too injury prone, but is easily good enough at this level too, can see him ending up somewhere local in this league as well.

He's capable but nowhere near consistent enough, a bit too lightweight, could do with bulking up really.
