Go at to say, you seem to have had more than a few decent players who couldn’t be arsed. Ince and Ajose for starters. What’s gone on?
Maguire, Bunn, O’Shea, Smith, O,Connell, Aldred the list goes on and on.. it’s terrible management that destroyed team morale in my opinion.

Smith was fine. He just isn't a goalscorer and kept being played on his own up front. He was brilliant at bringing others into play but there wasn't anyone arsed. If we kept Smith and had Miller next to him I would guarantee that we'd have given more of a fight.

Billy Knott the first to confirm he's leaving us. Not a surprise really having been loaned out in January.

Not a great 18 months here but he did have an influence at the back end of last season when he scored and created a few.

Aside from that he's been a bit of a let down, but we've since found out, through an interview he's done, that he's been suffering from severe depression, so that'll explain a few things.

Best bet for him is probably do go back home down south, pick up a PT club and start enjoying his football again and come back stronger.

The following all released:

Shola Ameobi
Adam Collin
Carl Dickinson
Mike Edwards
Jonathan Forte
Elliot Hodge
Nicky Hunt
Rob Milsom
Callum Saunders
Alan Smith
Curtis Thompson

Only one I am surprised about is Forte. I thought he might have done enough come end of the season to prove why he should have had more starts, but Nolan never seems to have liked him.

He'll get a contract in this league, if not league one to be honest

Can’t argue with that at all. Forte has been great the last few weeks but Nolan obviously doesn’t trust him fully and there has to be some underlying reason as to why he’s had such an underwhelming career with his ability.

The big one is Tootle signing a two year deal straight up, though. What a guy.

I think Forte is a decent 'Plan B' for this level, sure he will have a few clubs after him.

I think one of the problems with Forte is that he doesn’t work as a plan b, he has to be the main man, seems quite a complex guy who really needs to be loved to perform.

I’d have Dicko back at Vale to be honest.

Depends what you're aiming for next year - he's a trier but what legs he had have gone realistically. Probably do a job for anyone just looking to be solid and stay in the league.

Decent back up utlitlity man. Left back (behind Monty who’s be immense and one of the few positives this season, back up centre half and centre midfield)

Didn’t overly have legs for us in fairness but don’t recall him particularly ever letting us down, that’s was in a side that was top half league one for 2 of his 3 seasons.

Would prefer we didn’t go for Dicko in all honesty. Would just be a lazy signing going back to one of the old guard. Not doubting that he is a solid pro etc but he was never that good for us before. Any winger with a bit of pace tended to make mincemeat out of him not to mention how often he was caught out of position.

Ok.

Collin is a surprise given he played most of the season. Forte and Milsom (if fit) will make decent signings in this league. V pleased with our list tho, a lot of large earners gone and lots of room in the budget to rebuild with a back five already in place. Strikers and wide players look to be the priority

Agree , surprised but happy with that cull. Collin is a surprise as I thought KN loved him but I’m not upset although he got unjustified shit from some sections of our crowd.
Milsom I was always a fan of so that’s a shame but his injury record hasn’t helped matters. Good signing for someone.
Dicko, delighted far too limited. All effort no legs or final quality. Not needed.
Forte although superb at the tail end of the season , coincidentally when he knew his contract was coming to an end hasn’t done enough for me. Earlier in season looked uninterested.

The rest. Good choices by Nolan

Now we need to get the incomings right

Oh and Toots has been an unsung hero this season, my sort of fullback. One that can defend

Going by the way Tootle celebrated scoring a late winner at our place, he seems a bit of a character.

Oh, he is a total character. He’s spoken at length over the last couple of years about his mental health issues and done loads to raise awareness of it in football. Always comes across as totally approachable to the fans and is always front and centre of our community stuff, the kind of person that we need as many of as possible in football.

The fact that he signed a two year deal immediately on the day Nolan met with the players says a lot, as well. I’ve no doubt he’d have got offers from League One.

Surprised like others that Collin has gone, but not disappointed.
Forte I think is unlucky. Nolan took the piss out of him until the 42nd game of the season when he at last played him with Ameobi and gave him some physical support rather than making him play alone or with Allessandra. He's good for 15-20 with the right partner.
Milsom should get a deal somewhere if he passes the medical, good honest player for us, the only one who maintained a decent standard last year when we were doing the ten straight defeat thing.
Always liked Curtis Thompson but that's based on a promising player three seasons ago, can't argue with the manager over his or the rest of the players released really.

He must've learned that at your place then. Much as I like the guy he loved to back off and never put a challenge in, lots of crosses came in from his side that often turned into goals.

Mind you we're easily the owners of the worst defence in England over the last 15 years so that doesn't surprise me one bit he can defend now...

That's quite weird as most crosses against Notts seem to come in from the left (other side). Maybe we defend better as a team down the right than the left and it was visa versa for you?

Yeah, if anything the one criticism you could have of Toots is that he dives in early up the pitch a bit too much and can be done that way, never really backs off. Probably just developed as a player, Nolan’s best attribute as a manager seems to be his ability to organise and improve defensive players as well.

We have very few out of contract, so this is about as expected.

----------------------------------

Lincoln City Football Club can confirm that our retained list has been submitted to the EFL ahead of the 2018/19 season.

Sean Long, Richard Walton, and Elliott Whitehouse will be offered new contracts.

The following players will return to their parent clubs upon the expiry of their loan deals:
  • Danny Rowe
  • Ryan Allsop
  • Scott Wharton
  • Jordan Williams
Billy Knott will be released by Lincoln City when his contract expires, whilst Cameron Stewart’s contract has been terminated by mutual consent.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to those players who will leave the club in the coming weeks and we wish them every success in the future.

Connor Jennings new 2 year deal. Delighted with that, along with Norwood and Norburn he can comfortably step up to match the clubs ambition.
