Aye we’re done for. Didn’t go today as chose to go play Golf instead and glad I made the right call by the sound of it. Will do Shrews at home next Saturday then I think that’s me done for the season. I refuse to let these bums ruin my Saturday or Tuesday night. Whether I get a ST in L2 will depend on whether certain changes happen at the club in the summer.

Interesting reading the comments of some of the Vale fans on another thread re their summer recruitment. That's exactly the same situation for Shrewsbury. Spine of the team are Cotterill's players, but nothing to back them up. To compound that, we didn't have a right back in the squad in the first half of the season, yet failed to bring one I'm during January. Despite our lack of goals, we only had 3 strikers in the squad at the end of January and then sent Max Mata back to Ireland on loan in February, leaving us with Udoh and Bowman who hasn't scored a league goal since the opening day of the season.

Just need to get the 12/13 points or so to stay up, which I think we are capable of (just), but the next week is going to a big one in the season with Vale away followed by Exeter and Carlisle at home. Need 6 points really from those games.

Cheltenham Charlton is gonna be a fun on on Tuesday, if we lose then it really does pull a lot of teams back into the mix
Must win game for us. We usually do well at home under the lights so I'm clinging onto that. We have a run of Oxford A, Barnsley A and Posh H after Tuesday so could well be curtains if we fail to beat you. Last two games have been shocking though so not holding out much hope.

We are unbeaten in 5 but are definitely still not fully clicking as today showed. Think it could be quite a cagey game

Didn't realise just how close it's got down there, as a previous post says, huge potential for Cheltenham to really drag everyone up to Wycombe into it even further in midweek.

what difference does it matter how old I am?
It's because you talk of Pompey as some sort of huge club. Which suggests you have only known them during the fa cup/Premier league days. You're a reasonable sized club at league one level, but a lot of that is down to your relatively successful recent past. You've played at Vale's level or below for a lot of the last 40 years.

Portsmouth are a one club city. With a fairly affluent fan base who can afford to go every week. Southampton is the closest club catchment wise but they're not that close to you. Vale used to have pretty big crowds in the 50s and 60s but have been dreadful for the last 60 years, give or take the odd season. This is compounded by the fact that we share one of the smallest (And poorest)cities in the UK with a team that has had a much better last 60 years. Quite frankly, I think it's incredible that we can occasionally attract 5 figure crowds and regularly take over 1000 away. As I said before, we don't 'belong' in division 4. Our historical positions suggest that this league is probably our standard.

You don't know or understand any historical context, so it's no surprise everyone thinks you're a knob.

Again, as much as I hate defending Pompeyblueboy, we didn't overspend to get to the Premier League. Please get your facts straight if you're going to attempt a retort. My advice would be to ignore the dinlo, that's what I've been doing for months.

Genuinely the first time I've heard this phrase from someone who isn't from, or doesn't live in, Cheltenham.

My son gets called it all the time - by me.

Our game sounded dull as shit today. Happy to sit back and not commit anyone forward. If that is the agenda for the remainder of the season I will save my money and instead do something else. As that is not entertainment. We have 5 strikers. Fucking use them you moron.
Neither team looked like scoring. That Burton's best chance was because our goalkeeper thought he could win a footrace against a forward who had 10 yards on him basically summed the game up.

I don't think either keeper had a serious save to make.

They use it in The Football Factory (I only remember this because I thought it sounded so unusual), but I’ve never heard anyone say it in real life.

The next three fixtures for us are huge and we need a minimum of six points from. Must not lose against Port Vale next Saturday then have to be looking to get wins from back to back home games against Exeter and Carlisle.

Must be one of the most exciting relegation battles in a while for the neutral with the amount of teams involved.

I'm so glad you put the word 'neutral' in there.

I'd rather lick piss off a nettle right now.

True, but we’re being outdone by the Championship here, I’ve literally never seen a table that close at this stage of the season.

What the hell is a dinlo?

It means "idiot" and can be used affectionately or more insultingly to outsiders. I've never heard it used outside of Portsmouth but it's a very common word here. Can also be shortened to "din" or "dinny".

Agreed - I call it my son out of love more than anything. He is very much a dinlo though.

Never heard din or dinny before, definitely dunny though (which I assume is linked - although thinking about it that's an Aussie toilet isn't it).

You certainly talk a lot of shite. If brains were taxed you'd get a rebate you thick cnut. You know nothing about history either comparing your 2 bob club with Stoke.

You post more shite on this forum than any other poster and that includes me. Port Vale lose again love it

You'd know as much as we do about playing second fiddle to a local rival in red and white stripes at least...

There's an "ignore" option on here for a reason. Personally I don't engage with the "our club's bigger/better/older than your club" stuff. It's not what I come here for.

For what it’s worth in the case of that individual one step ahead of you as had it on ignore going back into last season. Don’t mind WUM’s but at least try and be funny doing it. Generally speaking the state of this forum is the pits though, whether it’s the lack of any mods/admin or even yesterday that issue of it redirecting to some dodgy site.

Hahaha well I'm hardly suprised, you must still be at school to not know what that means.

It's a polite way of telling you to fuck off.

Very much so, the beauty of English football is clubs come all in shapes and sizes but each have their own identity and history (good and bad) going back 100-150 years plus in some cases.

Down here we spend much time in the bad but it certainly makes those fleeting good times feel extra special.

Talking of that - you could not help but be impressed with the scenes at Wimbledon when their last minute winner went in. Looked a amazing atmosphere from the video clips I’ve seen on Twitter.

Moments their fans will remember for years... was it their first league win v MK?

They beat them in the League in 2017, but that was at Kingsmeadow. I could be wrong, but I think it's the fact they beat them at home at Plough Lane for the first time.

An up yours to the panel who suggested that a new Wimbledon team would "not be in the wider interests of football"

One of the clips of the year, and brilliant to see Ronan Curtis come off the bench and do that after the shit year he's had. Hopefully the ball boy he picked up was ok in the ensuing crush!
