Looking at our fixtures and the table, it's the first time this season I'd say it's hard to see us going down. I think six points from our next five games should be enough, can't imagine Barnet/Chesterfield getting more than 44/45.

Also, rather selfishly, I hope both us and Vale are still in the shit (us less so) for our game. It's been a while since one our games actually meant something and I want to throw my life savings on Artell being sent 'off'.

Do or die time for us tonight...
We have been competitive in our matches but we just never create enough gilt-edged chances as opposed to general chances to ensure that we can score enough goals to win a match. We haven't scored more than one in a match since Westley took over and not since our 2-1 win against Morecambe in December.

We will set up for a point tonight I reckon as a draw edges us a point clearer and its a must not lose rather than a must win game.

A win though probably has us almost there with a gap of 9 plus GD.

If we has as many chances as Saturday and their keeper doesnt produce a season best performance we will have a decent chance but a draw here heading into two home games would be just fine.

All this unneccessary stress can be avoided, all that needs to happen is all EFL clubs to get together and vote to shut the trapdoor, with immediate effect. Simple.

The NL operates with different rules on pitches, academy funding etc, so there is no need for there to be a link between it and the professional leagues. By allowing this nonsense to continue, the FA and EFL are putting a lot of peoples jobs on the line at clubs who go down, so why do it at all? The NL clubs wont mind, they've just got a new TV deal and they can always have a cup run.

So tantamount to going back to the dark days of 'applying for re-election'? No thanks. We suffered hugely as we were shafted whenever we tried to gain election to the league until promotion/relegation was brought in. Why shouldn't the best non-league teams be given an incentive? League football is the Holy Grail.

No doubt that was your view last season too Chris. :10:

Didn't really think about it too much tbh. Now I've realised how much it affects peoples jobs, especially in the academies etc, I think that this promotion/relegation system isn't worth it, and needs to be stopped for the good of the game.

I've been thinking about it a bit and whilst we were in non league I was all for 3 up 3 down from League 2 but now I've had a proper think about it I'd much rather stick to the 2 up 2 down.......... :2thumb:

I’ve no doubt you’re absolutely right that’s the way we’ll try to play. I do think however this is going to backfire if we do that. I’m struggling to think of a time where we’ve tried this tactic and it’s actually worked. The players are just not smart enough tactically to pull that off.

This is Barnet we are playing. If we can't get something from this we don't deserve to stay up. We are capable of at least a point, so Im predicting 1-1.

Ideal scenario is a Vale win coupled with a Yeovil loss.

The worst team I’ve seen this season is us. Some of our performances have been beyond bad - last Saturday is a good example. I know we’ve put in a few decent performances, but when we’ve been bad, we’ve been horrendous.

Still, we’ve now the Brown Years to look forward to. Or months.

How often do we go to the bottom side and put in a pathetic effort that’s my worry. A win here would massively relieve the pressure... Vale never make it easy on us!

Almost every time we have a must win game(Torquay, Northampton, plus a few others) we always blow it. This is the biggest chance we have to close the gap and make things a little more interesting. A win for us tonight and everything for about 5 clubs to play for. A defeat would mean us down and a big battle for 3 others. Being in a negative mode, either Vale will score early and shut-up shop, with us panicking like headless chickens, or we do everything but score and Vale snatch a very late winner.

You didn't blow Barnet vs Vale in 2011, ya bastards! :D Even if McLeod dive for that penalty.

Made the last minute decision to go tonight as only a shortish journey from where I live. Commitment to the cause that...

Got to say I do like Barnets new ground at first glance. Wish we would do the same albeit with a larger capacity on the off chance this club ever actually achieves anything slightly of note in future.

We aren't capable of shutting up shop with a one goal lead unfortunately (or scoring late)

How have we gone so shit in 20 months!

When I went travelling in late November , Vale were on the up, genius new manager in charge picking the perfect team selection, fans talking confidently about play offs this season rueing the awful start to the season. I return in early March and ...... ya dump. The manager is making strange decision, chopping and changing, in a relegation battle, and everything is heading south!

Feels like an episode of twilight zone and tbh I’m happy with this U turn and drastic change.
