Its been worked out that if Sutton win their final 2 games 1-0 and we lose both ours 0-6 on aggregate then we will be tied on points, GD and goals scored with identical head to head records!

If it were the premier league we would have a head to head game at a neutral ground! But the EFL rules go on games won, then goals scored away, and finally on each clubs discipline record after 42 games!

That means Sutton would be above us having won 11 to our 10!
Must be odds on that.

Not that we’d be about but would love for alty to come up.

Us and newport are joint longest patrons of this league so newport will now carry that baton alone.

I don't normally bother responding to trolls but you have completely misrepresented what I originally posted, which was:

But do you know what really hacks me off about Dale, his assumption that everyone following the team has the same views and values as him...no we bloody well don't, Hamas are fucking terrorists, they are not freedom fighters!

If you re-read that statement I was calling out Dale for his comment about Hamas being freedom fighters, not terrorists, that is his view and certainly not mine. If you look up the definition of terrorist I think you will find it is a pretty nailed on description of what they inflicted on the people of Southern Israel last October, raping women, kidnapping children and randomly killing people going about a peaceful life.

I did not, I repeat did not, make any statement about the innocent people in Gaza whose lives have been destroyed by the actions of Israel, in response to what was inflicted on them by Hamas.

Piece of friendly advice, before I depart this part of the forum, if you are going to roast someone for a comment they have made...make sure you get your facts right before you post, or you risk making yourself look like a complete and utter tit.

Cheers!
Exactly that. Hamas is a terrorist group and what they did was atrocious. But no way did the innocent Palestinians deserve what the Israeli authorities dished out in retaliation.

This is the problem with current politics. Anyone condemning the Israeli state's actions are deemed anti Semitic. They're not, they're anti Zionist which is a massive difference.

Anyway, putting aside Stale Mince, good luck to FGR. Their posters on here are sound and I wish them all the the best.

Obviously I don't really know the individual situations, but you'd think FGR and Sutton should be immediate contenders in the NL. FGR budget dwarfs even York's and could just spend their way out, and the level will have no surprises for Sutton either. Unless both have a massive clear out and reset (which to be fair might be needed)

Honestly, no, I am more worried we will struggle next season. If Cotterill stays, and has real say over recruitment, there is some home of a mid-table finish I reckon. We really have to start anew, is the short version.

What the last two years have proved is that we have a owner who likes to splash the cash. He is far less concerned about doing so wisely. Publicity over reality.

Even among the other ludicrous decisions taken since 2022, how on earth could he have imagined that appointing Troy Deeney as manager would be a good idea...? No wins, an extraordinary couple of interviews in which he not so much slated as humiliated the players (not that what he said was wrong, just extremely undiplomatic and unprofessional), and an altercation with the 4th official (along the lines of "I've have punched you if you weren't a ref") that got him a six-match ban from the touchline. And he was only manager for six matches!

To be fair similar conclusions (apart from anything pertaining to the Feeney escapades) could have been drawn when we were last in the NL.

Am I missing something here? We wouldn’t be tied on GD, Sutton are only 8 away from our GD. Them winning 1-0 both games means we’d only need two 3-0 defeats?

I managed to stick a quid on us going down whilst the odds were 1000/1 on Tuesday evening, it’s now gone to 250/1. Don’t think for one minute it’ll happen but it’ll pay for the alcohol it’ll take that night to get over it.

I think you are missing the fact that he said on aggregate which could be two 3-0 defeats, could also be a 1-0 and a 5-0

Grimsby are over the finishing line, which means it's 1 from 2 now, either Colchester or Sutton. Sutton need a miracle though. They need Donny and Crewe to stick a combined 8 goals past Colchester and they need to go to MK Dons and win. Which looks all but impossible.

FGR have a chance not to finish bottom, they win next Saturday and Sutton lose, they'll finish 23rd. Small consolation I know.

22nd - Colchester, 44 points, -18 GD: Doncaster(H), Crewe(H)

24th - Forest Green(R), 39 points, -35 GD: Notts County(H)

Tuesday 23rd April
Colchester United

I wonder if Sutton fans want to be put out of their misery already? A point for Colchester against a flying Donny does it for them on Tuesday.

Says a lot about how poor the bottom of the league has been this season that the safety line is going to be at least 2 points lower than the historical average.

Says how poor it is given we were in it 15 games ago

The points may suggest that but as a stalwart of the bottom of L2 and relegation battles down here, I think there is less of a gap between the quality of the teams at the foot of the table and the rest of the division than I can ever remember. There are so many sides above the bottom four that have looked equally crap from what I've seen, they've just managed to eke out more single goal wins or haven't drawn as many matches. I look up the table and I'm going all the way up to the playoff spots before I really see teams that I think are actually better than us. The fact that Donny are on the verge of the playoffs proves how weak the division is from upper midtable down.

Glad to be safe, it's been a wank season but we didn't deserve to go down, we weren't that bad. Just glad it's over and we aren't going to Crawley needing anything.

Agreed, even the predicted play-offs is lower than the average. Take out the top 4 and the rest are pretty poor all round. Think some Crewe fan said they had 9 points from the last 33 and they are still 5th.

I’d agree we’ve had tight games (at least 1) with just about all the top teams other than Stockport. Taken at least a point off the rest of the top 10 other Wrexham who were lucky to get 6 points against us. Small margins, we deserve to go down though as we were too easily beaten at times in the first half of the season and just haven’t had enough about us to pinch wins. 2 points hardly a chasm, it’s a deflection off someone’s bum in the 8th minute of added time to nick a win.

Same with us, we won at Barrow and Crewe, were unlucky not to take all three points at home to a Wrexham side that equalised in time added on. We have probably taken as many points from teams in the top half of the table as the bottom, but the table doesn't lie, we have been inconsistent across the season at best and failed to take opportunities to either climb out of the relegation places or build a gap by losing to fellow strugglers. The only positive, if you can have one from a relegation season, is that we now have a proper manager in charge and not an ex-academy coach or a recently retired player. Will that make a difference next year, will we stop the rot or be more competitive, only time will tell...but we can't be any worse, can we?

In the end we’re going to finish a fair way from the drop but it’s still felt nervy along the way.

I’d like to think we’ve learnt some big lessons from this now and I genuinely think we’ll be fine now under Artell, the worst part of the season is just how unexpected it’s been. Hursts legacy will be the fact he ignored all the people he moaned about not having at his disposal previously and nearly took us down because of it.

Considering how awful we’ve been all season the fact we’re going into the last game with a chance of staying up is a miracle

Crewe and Colchester will play out a 0-0 with the ball not leaving the centre circle.

If you'd beaten them the final day shootout at the bottom would have been GRIPPING STUFF with any of 3 teams capable of escaping.

Instead you lost, relegated us and made it very long odds for Sutton. Hope you're proud of yourselves Grimsby, you ruined all the potential excitement by being shit.

I have a soft spot for Sutton and I really don’t want to see us relegate you guys but we’re terrible at the play offs no matter what so could do with some momentum, if it meant us winning the play offs in return I’d happily give you a 6-0 win or whatever you need.
