Pretty good summary of it really. Does Westley know his way around a relegation scrap though? How many has he been in? Hopefully Orient and County can both stay up
When he first went to Stevenage they were 21st in the Conference and he pulled them out of it, he took Rushden & Diamonds from 21st to 12th in 2 months before oddly getting the sack, and I don't think he's ever been relegated (I could be wrong here).

He just seems like the terrier-type that you don't mind having at the helm when you're at the wrong end of the table.

Didn't realise that. I agree that his style should give Newport some confidence

I think Westley was manager at Stevenage when were relegated to league 2.

Didn't see the need for a new thread for this question but....

Does anyone know why Newport seem to have extra news pieces and updates on the BBC website? Found it strange that they seem to have 30-40% more content than any other side!
Is the webmaster a Newport fan!?!

The local radio stations are usually responsible for putting stuff up. BBC Lincs are in this region anyway.

Apparently it's because Newport 'represent' Wales so they're featured more. I've heard Westley is quite happy with this as he's always got something to say.

Hey Hartlepool fans how is Nathan Thomas doing? You know that winger you admired so much who played well back in the early days of the season and made you look like a team that might challenge for promotion after beating the mighty likes of Grimsby. So did he get injured or something because I don't think I've seen of heard the sight of him since...

Yes , he got injured ..... scored today on his 2nd game after injury ..... since the start of the season some Poolies had convinced themselves he'd be snapped up in January , Rangers kept getting mentioned ...his injury means if he's ok now we will have him for the final stages , which could be what keeps us up , for make no mistake , the team we have now is not as good as the team that got the great escape 2 years ago ..... what is similar to 2 years ago is yet again there are 2 other teams trying thier best to get relegated

We've been left with a really weak squad to choose an XI from now, hit hard by cost cutting and injuries to senior players.

It'll be a wonder to stay up with what we've now got. Unfortunately, I don't think there's enough to get us over the line.

It really says it all about our club/players/staff/chairman delete were you like, despite having a squad of 30 professional players (albeit a large number of young untested kids on pro deals, cheers Higgy/Chairman), we only named 6 players on the bench yesterday, not sure if it's a cost cutting exercise or Jones just thinks they're shite?

It's nothing short of a miracle that we're still above the bottom two, 1 win in 10, last away win was October, 37 goals conceded away from home, the team is on the bones of it's arse.

Two massive home games to come, simply must beat Crewe Tuesday night and try and get something from Exeter on the Saturday.

Just a toss up really between us Orient and Newport, three bags of shite doing their utmost to go down.

Unless the teams above the bottom three lose 3+ in a row, its now down to the bottom three and who is going to be the least shittest.

We've lost 14 games at home this season - including the last 6 in a row. We have 5 home games left.

On Tuesday night we are down to only one out and out striker who is 17 years and from our youth team.

Our best player, Gavin Massey is one yellow card away from a 2 game ban.

We still need 12 points for safety so we need 2 teams at the bottom to lose 4 games as with our injuries i can't see where our next win will come from, 3 defenders out yesterday didn't help. :ohm:

Notts have a really tough run coming up and we have to play Plymouth, Portsmouth, Stevenage Carlisle, and Luton. We'll be right back in the dog fight soon enough.

It's not a miracle though because you should know being a Hartlepool fan that there are usually 2 teams who are always worse than you in this league. That's why you're not in the bottom two mate.

A loss for us still just about keeps us in this thread but Chris Dagnall missing for 3 games could be a huge blow if we go winless in all three. With Danny Hollands (who was simply unplayable vs Grimsby) out for the season and Ryan Lowe snaking off to Bury, we'll be playing with an awful lot of kids and some goal-shy forwards so we can't allow Hartlepool, Orient and Newport to make gains on us.

Hartlepool, Portsmouth and Newport are our next three games. Beat Hartlepool and Newport (which'll take us to 42 points) and I'm confident neither will pass us in the league and we can keep one eye on next season.

Has Bowery show any signs of improvement for you? He lost all his self believe with us, we actually ruined him I think.

On Saturday we travel to Newport - Whoever loses will probably go down.

There are also rumours - Although nothing concrete that Becchetti will put the club into administration this week, as he now badly wants out and cannot find any buyer.

Please be aware that I believe it is more fans panicking and breaking the internet more than anything else, but nothing would suprise me anymore to be honest...:animatedf:

He's been a revelation, four assists in the 7 games he's featured in and is getting closer to his first goal for us, my only fault with him is the fact he can't hit the target but when he's creating so much for others I can genuinely look past that.

However, we have two useless forwards who'll be called upon at times now Dagnall is banned and our best hope is Bowery turning into a goal machine than Saunders or Kirk feeding off his hold-up play because those two are fucking shite.

He had 7 assists for us I believe up until Alberto Cavasin took over and banished him. He was never the same player after he was frozen out for 6 weeks.

We have him under contract for 2 more seasons, if we keep him in the National league, he may be of some use to us..........

You say that , but think back to when Carlisle went down , previous to that you were escaping by the skin of your teeth , or in the case of the season when there was no relegation , you didn't bother pretending ..... your luck runs out sooner or later , but I must admit , I never realised the full extent of Orients problems
...things will look a lot more clear cut next Saturday evening

The Hartlepool home game coming up is big. If we can do what we did against Cheltenham and Orient and put away another direct rival then it'll be another massive step closer.

Anything at Plymouth and Stevenage this week is a bonus really but Nolan has at least got us organised enough to suggest that shithousing a point from games like those is possible.

It's looking bleak for the O's and Newport. That gap is beginning to look permanent as the team's above keep eeking out results to just put a little distance between themselves and the bottom.
Bonus win tonight for us, which takes a bit of pressure off us needing a result down at Stevenage.

This is quickly becoming the most predictable thread on this site.

I propose we replace all future posts to this thread with the words 'Newport and Orient'.

Job done.

Thanks for all the laughs though lads, I'll definitely miss this forum.

What a sad state of affairs it is now at Brisbane road. In my first season watching professional football you were promoted to the old first division with Liverpool. Don't think you stayed there that long but at least you've been there.
You should never have changed your colours from blue to red.
