Feel so sorry for the Orient fans. OK, I know they're not exactly our favourite club and loads of U's see them as bigger rivals than say Luton, but I don't want this to happen even to the tinpot clubs let alone a proper old club like Orient.

I still cling onto the slim hope that they'll still be a L2 side next year, as that's the way I am, but it's really bleak isn't it.

Eh? WTF?

Crewe Alexandra manager David Artell has warned his players they will end up "with a job as a milkman" if they are relegated from League Two.

Since taking charge following Steve Davis' sacking in January, Artell's side have won just twice in nine games.

And he labelled Tuesday's 4-0 loss at Hartlepool, which left the Alex just seven points clear of safety, as "the worst performance" since he took over.

"Relegation means oblivion for everyone," he told BBC Radio Stoke.

"I've told the players they have a choice: either work hard and improve, or it's oblivion. That's for their careers, this football club and every one of us.

"They'll end up in the Conference North on £200 a week with a job as a milkman."

What Artell is basically saying is that they're not even Conference standard, and should they go down this year, they'll end up getting relegated next year too.

They would've to be really shite if they go down this year, as that would mean Newport and the mess that is currently Leyton Orient FC finish above them, something that not many think is even remotely possible.

You're really doing well with the whole nice to Leyton Orient thing this season ;)

What a sad state of affairs it is now at Brisbane road. In my first season watching professional football you were promoted to the old first division with Liverpool. Don't think you stayed there that long but at least you've been there.
You should never have changed your colours from blue to red.
They were only there for the one season!
What a terrible state of affairs this is, especially as Bechetti seems to be doing this out of spite to the clubs' supporters. I'm hoping that LOFT are getting their act together for the aftermath.

Ha! Tbh, I can't even remember why I promised to be nice to LO this year, but I think it had something to do with the Music World Cup Thread?

But seriously Lotal, it's hard not to sympathise with you lot as this was all mad Frankie's doing. IOW, one man has managed to screw a football club all by himself, with no thought at all about the fans or the clubs' history. Of course it's sad.

ps - not forgetting of course, that for us it's a great away day, but that's another matter entirely and it's also a bit selfish.

Good on him. So many entitled, fragile and weak as piss twats that literally only got contracts because they were in favour with Davis. Anyone with talent who Davis liked was immediately sold and anyone with talent who he didn't like was released.

As I said in another thread, we could be average for the rest of the season and still stay up in my opinion. Cheltenham's run of wins won't last, Yeovil are dropping like a stone, Orient are sadly in oblivion and Hartlepool and Accrington are still in the mire too. The only side I can see comfortably staying up out of the relegation threatened sides are Notts County.

I will be worried, however, if Newport beat Orient and then us (remember we lack our most consistent defender, our best CM and our best striker for the game with Newport) because they'd be 4 points behind us with a game in hand. It's why I'm badly praying for a draw in the Newport-Orient because we're getting absolutely nothing at Portsmouth on Saturday. Should that draw occur, avoiding defeat against Newport would be a big step towards survival for us.

But this is Crewe, we don't survive comfortably anymore, we just take everything to the last day or, if it was like last season, fail to turn up for the rest of the season and go down with a whimper.

As far as I can gather, we will 100% be in administration by the 20th March or whenever it is shortly after that, which will be -10 points and relegation for us.

Newport need to beat our youngsters Saturday to have any hope, even then it will be a tall order for them to beat the drop for them if they do win.

As I said not as tall an order as you think if they beat you. With a game in hand on us and us to play next Saturday with Dagnall suspended, our complacency and arrogance against lesser opposition and Westley's amazing record against us they could literally drag us into the mire.

And I really hate to rub salt into the Orient wounds because I like the club, but I believe admin penalties are now -12 points as opposed to -10...

So hiring the milkman would be cheaper than Ollie Turton? Ffs.

Get themselves to the right Conference North Clubs and they could be getting £1k+ a week, never mind £200!

I think we must be about the only team that they ever play well against, comprehensively beat us 2-0 at BP and 5-0 at their gaff, then they just play shit against everyone else!

That Crewe win was vital for us and maybe we have enough firepower (at home at least) to just about stay clear bearing in mind what's below us. Thomas, Amond and Alessandra are key to it really. We need all of them firing. However, we've got awful looking fixtures left so we are by no means safe at all. Exeter at home next, we have a good record against them so hopefully that'll continue even though they're shit hot away. After that, there's only about 3 games I'd back us to get anything from.

All to play for really but it's looking dodgy for Orient sadly, a club I have respect for.

All but confirmed tonight by our fans trust, we will be entering administration this season - Becchetti very unlikely to pay the debt off, as he is very unlikely to attend the clubs court hearing (See other thread).

If we enter admin before 23rd Match, the 12 points come off this season. After 23rd March, I believe they come off next season - Correct me if I'm wrong please.

The fans would favour the points come off this season, which will 100% relegate us.

If the points deduction is next season, then you will be playing in Conference South. The conference have history with Boston going straight from FL to Conference North.

My understanding re: points deductions is that they apply when necessary. So if Orient finish the season in the relegation zone then they are applied next season. It's to ensure teams don't take the deduction so it doesn't actually punish them.

Another team, I forget whom, did it in the Championship a few years ago and the rules were changed accordingly.

Didn't Swindon get promoted to the top flight once only to be relegated prior to the season starting for something?

I believe that only applies when being relegated within the football league. Dropping out of the football league means a different authority with different rules. I believe it's already been said but if you're not out of admin before a certain date, the conference won't let you in either as with Boston.

I think that the much-loved Ken Bates was the crafty chairman who decided to take the Admin points deduction when Leeds were already heading from the Championship to League One. This prompted the rule change to hold the points deduction over to the following season if it had zero effect in the current season.

Sorry to intrude, I just wanted to say, apparently we're mathematically safe!
Good luck to everyone fighting at the bottom, I think it'll come down to the last day!
I just don't want Hartlepool to need to win the last game, as we're there and it would put a massive dampener on it if we went up and they went down!

Yep in 1989 they were promoted to the top flight only to be relegated 2 divisions for breaking loads of rules.
On appeal it was reduced to 1 division.

Cheers GTFish, I knew I wasn't going mad! That's when the league had no idea what to do with naughty teams so they just pulled random fines from a hat.
