As I understand it it's nothing to do with the FL, the High Court can liquidate Orient if the bill isn't paid by the 20th. But other Orient shareholders, including the LO Football Trust, believe they can then apply for administration, thus staving off extinction but meaning certain relegation and an uncertainly as to what happens next re if the Conference will allow them in.

As for us, should be ok now. Won four six pointers in a row and Nolan's record now reads W5 D3 L3. 18 pts from 11 games, or play-off form. The change in atmosphere around the place compared to a few weeks back is remarkable.

Maidstone folded in the close season of 1992, it was Aldershot who folded during the 1991/92 season.

I'm pretty sure when this has happened in the conference only 3 teams have been relegated. Still they have very different rules to the league

What a bizarre season we've had. Play-off form for well over half of it but still in a relegation battle.

Think it's becoming increasingly clear that we've actually got a decent enough team that should be in the top ten or so but the off the field issues had reached such a point during that mad losing run that Sheridan and the players had just lost any sense of motivation or focus.

Our fans trust said this evening, they are likely yo push for a court ajournment and put off administration for this season and let Becchetti find a buyer as they don't want to harm our young squads confidence. Plus administration could well screw club over internally.

We shall see, all eyes will no doubt head towards Monday if by some miracle we beat Doncaster and Accrington this week.

Huge wins for ourselves and Hartlepool tonight. Accrington also extended their unbeaten run after an emphatic win vs Orient and look set to be well out of any relegation trouble now whilst Crawley and Yeovil have been dragged closer into the pack scrapping for safety. Yeovil have a chance to steer well clear though with their match tomorrow night with Barnet.

Unfortunately for those above them, Newport decided to win again (cue Morecambe's annual end of season slump) so the Newport great rally is on with them only being 7 points off Cheltenham with a game in hand. That said, 6 of Newport's 10 remaining games are against sides in the Top 8 of the table. I'm not tempting fate but it's going to be a big ask for a side who've only won ONE game all season against sides higher than 15th in the league. That said it wouldn't surprise me if they go on a jammy run of one goal wins to make a fight of it.

Very interesting to see what Orient do on Monday after tonight's thumping, could all depend on Saturday's result but another heavy defeat and I expect Orient to take the deduction in the High Court rather than risk relegation to the Conference South the following season.

Interesting to also note the form of the relegation threatened sides (Those with less than 50 points) in the last 10 games.

Barnet - 8 points
Morecambe - 14 points
Accrington - 19 points
Crawley - 9 points
Yeovil - 11 points
Crewe - 14 points
Hartlepool - 11 points
Notts County - 17 points
Cheltenham - 14 points
Newport - 13 points
Leyton Orient - 7 points

Saturday sees these fixtures as well

CHELTENHAM TOWN vs Cambridge United
CREWE ALEXANDRA vs Colchester United
Grimsby Town vs CRAWLEY TOWN
HARTLEPOOL UNITED vs Wycombe Wanderers
LEYTON ORIENT vs Doncaster Rovers
NEWPORT COUNTY vs Blackpool
YEOVIL TOWN vs ACCRINGTON STANLEY
NOTTS COUNTY vs Barnet (Sunday)

Every team bar Orient in the relegation scrap all have winnable fixtures although I expect Newport to drop at least 2 points at the weekend! (Watch them go on a massive run of wins now) If Newport win on Saturday and others drop points, next Tuesday's Newport vs Luton game could have a few nervous teams becoming Hatters fans for the night!

I'd say Yeovil and Crawley are already safe , unless they lose ALL thier remaining games that is ....even then Newport would need 6 wins .... at the moment I'd say 45 is the safety target , but that will come down I'm sure

Bottom two all but confirmed, I'd laugh if Newport stayed up myself. I'd laugh even harder if our youth team did to be honest

On paper Newport look dead due to their horror run-in, but I could see Newport rallying and someone falling like a stone...

Long as we win our games then hopefully we won't have to worry about what's going on elsewhere...

We're trying our best to create the biggest collapse ever seen in League 2 history. Our form is absolutely appalling and don't be surprised if in 5 games time we're in the mix - especially with some tough games coming up.

Only if I can take first shot.

Its now seriously worrying that we are unable to hold a lead and the players appear to be disjointed and losing faith.

With Akinola being carried off on a stretcher last night as well, we are getting weaker by the game and could easily finish the season without another win.

Even if you lose every game there is surely no way 48 points won't keep you up now

We had a season where people were saying similar things about 51 points.

I know it's heard from Carlisle fans lately, but I can't express to you enough just how poor we are. It's unbelievable. Barely even a shadow of the team from late 2016.

But we were never more than a couple of points above the safety line at any point that season, so the situation is totally different. Even if Newport were gain the 16 or 17 points to overhaul us without us winning a single point for the remainder of the season I doubt that every single club between us and them will get more than 48 points. Even in the absolute worst case scenario we'll eke out enough draws to see us over 51 points.

Barnet will be fine, they keep drawing often enough to pick up another couple of points at the very least which will be plenty this year.

I always look how many points approximately you need to be safe.
Then look at how many games a team would need to win/draw to get that.
Then look at how many games they a have won total so far to see if it's plausible. If the gap from the bottom 2 to 3rd bottom is still like it after the next 3 games I think it could we be over

We were like that 2 seasons ago - in 22nd and 6/7 points clear of 23rd. We kept losing game after game, but crucially so did the bottom 2 - the points to play for kept condensing down and it was too much for them to do.

Newport are home to a random-result Blackpool side, a win there would send a few flutters into the teams above, that's for sure

Nugent was always a good coach/assistant manager, but whenever he was in sole charge of our team nothing ever felt right. The players were trying, but there appeared to be very little structure to our play. It was more, kick, bite and bollock than anything else which only goes so far.

Your chairman should've kept Eames and Newman on till the end of the season at least.

When we did the ' great escape '... ( you may have missed it cos us Poolies hardly mentioned it ) ..... we won 4 on the bounce in 2 weeks at about this time , eradicating a 9 point deficit .... nothing is impossible , despite what managers say , mid table teams really do have nothing to play for , that's where the unexpected points come from ...

But how many mid tables teams are Newport playing? I think from the top 7, the only team they aren't playing is Doncaster?

It doesn't really matter who you play at this time of the season. Newport go into every game like it's a cup final.

Notts need a win Sunday. We still have some very tough games coming up and we need to take our home points

I wouldn't be surprised if Newport picked up four points from their two games this weekend, given they're both at home on that pitch and coming into it off the back of two morale-boosting away wins. Cheltenham could go either way though against Cambridge.

This is a bold claim and I could be crucified for this if it's us that finish 23rd come May.

I really don't think Newport have the quality to stay up and their run-in is truly horrendous on paper. A very narrow win against a godawful and complacent against the bottom sides Crewe (the same complacent arseholes that were routinely dispatched 4-0 by Hartlepool 11 days prior) and a narrow win via means of penalty against Morecambe (widely renowned for their late season slumps) suggests they finally have character and belief to grind out results, but it doesn't really suggest they have any quality. Let's see if they can grind out some results against 6 of the Top 8 that they have to play. 1 win against sides who are above 15th in the table says a lot about their quality.

Time will tell in their home games vs Blackpool and Luton, but if they fail to win at least one of them it's gonna be curtains for them I feel.
