He had a purple patch, nothing more. He'll do ok in the upper reaches of the non-league but he was clearly too small and not clever enough for this league. In a way pleased to see a player (seemingly) still under contract get the boot, hopefully part of a good clear out .... but we say that every year.

Really hoping it says: Tootle, Guthrie, Oliver, Waters (now its confirmed) released. (Stewart will probably be released too)

Nolan, Shearer and Inman transfer listed.

Grant and Colclough offered new contracts, even though I expect both to leave.

Matt Tootle's a LB isn't he?

I'd take him if he's released.

Nope, a RB. Has played at LB a bunch of times though. Bang average L1 defender, ok going forward, suspect defensively. If he does get released, he'd be worth a pick up for a team at this level.

I'd love Dawson back at Bury, he's something we missed at times last season. We need a keeper too as I don't think Pope will be allowed back here next season. Sam Slocombe would be a decent replacement.

So why do we want rid? If our defence was anywhere near 'bang average' we'd be happy!

He was faultless in the promotion season and I'd even say our steadiest defender in L1. He's by no means mistake free but could we get better in to replace him? I don't think so. He's certainly a better defender than Mark Ellis, who some Crewe fans still cream themselves over.

He'll probably go anyway but disregarding a player like Toots is just weird.

Whilst I appreciate and love Tootle and his crosses for the goals vs Vale this season were sublime, I think it's time to give him a new challenge and it frees up vital wage space needed. How many times have crosses come into our box because he backs off too much? Sheffield United at home, ironically his final game, proved that when they got a win thanks largely to his shocking defending. I don't think he's that great a player personally but I certainly feel no ill-will towards him. Fans who gave him abuse this season were a disgrace.

I do think Baillie will be better than Tootle in time, but fans need to be patient and not expect fireworks so soon.

Wouldn't be surprised to see McAlinden turn up at the Bescot this summer.

I wouldn't mind us to getting in touch with Blackburn and enquiring about Josh Morris.

Come home Robbo!

Would love to sign David Ball but we wouldn't have a cat in hells chance of making that happen.

Billy Waters definitely released from Crewe, August he was superb but he's gone downhill since then. Can see him ending up at Chester or somewhere like that.

BILLLLYYYYYYY

Away from home at 3-0 last season we resorted to just yelling at Waters and cheering every time he got the ball. No idea why. I think everyone was just bored. I'd take him for that reason.

I actually missed this home game sadly! Think he'd be too powderpuff for League Two anyway. How ironic is it that another Billy would score the winner in the next meeting between our two clubs. #IlluminatiConfirmed.

We've had our Legge removed. Leon's tweeted he's off.
Joe Martin already stated he's leaving previously this week.

Glenn Morris, Danny Galbraith and Gavin Hoyte other regulars out of contract. Only really bothered about keeping Morris.

Bell, Marquis, Muldoon and Ehmer gone back to parent clubs, think there's definitely a chance we get one or two back in permanently. Less chance of Marquis.

Now confirmed, Legge, Martin, Galbraith and Hoyte all been released.
Glenn Morris been offered a new contract.
All of the released players could do a decent job in League 2, but all maybe a little suspect at a higher level.
Legge to Barnett to join up with Mad Dog again?

We must be the only club that doesn't actually release some sort of official list. We'll just have stories dripping through for the next few weeks that 'player x has left' and then 'player y has been offered a deal' etc.

We do that too, although it might be quicker this season with a better league to contend with.

I'd have Hoyte back here. I thought he was always dependable if never amazing. Decent player to have in the squad.

Dawson would get in any team in this division. A real leader of men.

When he's not injured.

Ha I remember when Craig had that bet that Hemmings would outscore any other striker suggested by other posters as part of the TFF pre-season wagers. Fun times. Not happy that Bailey has been transfer listed, only because it will set our fans off again. Cue endless "Bailey to Crewe" rumours until he signs for someone else.

Retained: Jimmy Abdou*, Mark Beevers, Paris Cowan-Hall, Shaun Cummings, David Forde, Lee Gregory, Tom King, John Marquis*, Lee Martin, Sid Nelson, Aiden O’Brien, Fred Onyedinma, Alfie Pavey, Jack Powell, Mahlon Romeo, Ben Thompson, Ed Upson, Byron Webster, Shaun Williams, Keaton Wood.

Released: Nicky Bailey, Matthew Briggs, Dylan Casey, Richard Chaplow, Alan Dunne, Carlos Edwards, Sofiane El-Bekri, Ricardo Fuller, Denzel Gerrar, Jake Goodman, Magaye Gueye, Justin Hoyte, Stefan Maierhofer, Angel Martinez, Danny Shittu, Josh Siafa, Callum Webb, Martyn Woolford.

Asterisks indicates been offered a new deal on reduced terms. Alan Dunne leaves after nearly 20 years at the club. Bailey is too good for this league but is on big wage and is always injured. Gueye has quality but Harris doesn't seem to rate him much.

Our squad is looking really young at the moment. Only a handful of senior pros left and of those I expect Mark Beevers and Shaun Williams to stay in the Championship. Ambler says we will sign about five players over the Summer, a left back, a CB, a striker and two others. Not sure what to expect next season tbh.

I'd take Woolford back in a heartbeat, club legend that lad.

I wondered where that bald, little wanker Richard Chaplow had been plying his trade. Shithouse Dingle.
