What in the hell is going on in the rugby today. Is it time we ditch Italy and Scotland and just play the 4 nations?

What a day of rugby. All 3 teams deserve the title to be honest, there's nothing between them.

I agree with both points. Such a big gulf in quality between the other 3 though.

Today was the first day I felt the rugby was enjoyable. It's been such and kicking/penalty fest that it was nice to get at least one day good attacking play.

Great set of games.

Another tale of not quite enough for England!

Strong words from the RFU chief executive saying its "unacceptable" England have come 2nd in the last 4 Six nations tournaments.

Putting the pressure on a bit ahead of the World Cup - mind you they did give Stuart Lancaster a new contract running till 2020 not so long ago...

Bit of a hammering for the Saints in France.

Can see Saracens winning at Racing but otherwise home advantage really counts.

Looks like the BBC and ITV are going to share the rights to the Six nations from next year:

The BBC and ITV will share the rights to broadcast rugby union's Six Nations Championship for the next six years.

Wales, Scotland and France home matches will be on the BBC, while ITV will show England, Ireland and Italy home games.

BBC Radio 5 live will continue live commentary of all matches, which will be available on the BBC Sport website.

George Ford isn't good enough. What on earth is the obsession with him?

Some work to do for the team on this basis but then France are so hit and miss it's probably tricky to prepare to play them!

Turned up for the final 10 minutes.

Pitch was shocking which maybe didn't help?

Might as well use this one. Who do people think are going to win?

That sounds about right. I expect England to do the best of the northern hemisphere teams, especially with home advantage.

This rugby ref wants to have a go at officiating in a football match:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/34251778

First problem for him would be once you are down to 6 players on one side the match is abandoned!

He has some good general points about behaviour and the differences in terms of respect in the 2 sports but in rugby they have strong punishments for dissent and even sometimes just the most honest/accidental incident.

When was the last time a footballer was sent off or even booked for verbal dissent?

Gotta feel for him. I'll not be convinced that he didn't have interferences from above. The foreign policy is a scandal and smacks of politics coming before the good of the team. England outplayed us for the majority of the game and but for a tactical shambles would've won 2 out of 2 and essentially gone through.

Think this is also shortsighted. Despite having ample opportunity to label blame on his players he stayed loyal to them. The squad is still young and Lancaster is a decent coach, he could've forged a tidy little outfit.

Will they follow the cricket and football in appointing an overseas coach?

Yes they have in Eddie Jones who seems to have a strong CV.

Will he able to get England winning again?
