Tony Mowbray would be a decent appointment.

So he's not good enough to manage the team yet he's essentially being kept on as caretaker manager? Really strange.

We did it 10 years ago when John Rains resigned but agreed to stay on until his replacement started

Mills playing hard to get as our local media try their best to get him out the door:

And according to one betting website Mills is joint third favourite at 8/1 to take over at Bootham Crescent, behind Neil Redfearn (3/1) and Tony Mowbray (4/1).

But the manager dismissed any such suggestions, saying: “What do you want me to say? I am the Wrexham manager, that’s it. I am here doing my job at Wrexham and you know what is football is like, people will talk and talk, but I am here at Wrexham.”

Redfearn clear favourite and named on back page of local paper.
Plus already been caretaker manager before would be very happy with him.

I don't want Redfearn anywhere near us, absolutely not. It would be a terrible appointment.

Because he's hardly got a brilliant record. Especially in non-league, he's also been well clear of it for some time, I wanted a manager with the know how of how this division works, how to build and get out of it.

Redfearn isn't that man.

True. He hasnt got the best record and was awful at Rotherham. Their isnt a huge amount of managers with a decent knowledge of this level avaliable though and with the shambolic way York are being run at the moment I doubt you will attract much better.

Thing is, we are an attractive option. Parachute money, eventually moving into a new ground, good fanbase for this division, literally impossible at this point to regress (you come in and we go down you achieved what was inevitably occurring anyway), for all his faults in how it's worked with Jackie we have an exceptionally loyal and supportive chairman. On paper, we're a fantastic opportunity for somebody.

Rumours are Neil Aspin is interested, that is the ilk I'd be much more interested in, we need somebody who at least can identify what is required to succeed in this division, if he can build on it if we go up that is a bonus. We can't go plumping for people who haven't demonstrated they know what it takes, we did that over and over before.

Edmo would do it - ex-York man, has a non-league title to his name, turned around a sinking Barrow ship too.

Id be very happy with Redfearn even though managed my 2 hated clubs (Leeds and Scarborough) he brought some good players through academy at Leeds.
If not him would love Ricky Sbragia.he would be brilliant and guaranteed a good chance with fans and still lives in York

And he has a bang average managerial record, and that's being generous. He may well be a good youth developer, but we need a manager who is going to get results with the first team, Redfearn has repeatedly failed to do that. Failed at Scarborough, Leeds and Rotherham, he has yet to actually succeed as a manager, even McNamara had some previous success, he'd helped develop and sell on youngsters as well.

We need non-league nous, we absolutely needed to escape this pit last time, being back is an unmitigated disaster that cannot be allowed to extend to another eight year or more stay. Sbragia is another with no demonstrable non-league knowledge, we can't afford risks, we need to get this right.
