That is likely to be very suitable outcome for all concerned.

Mellon is completely out of his depth in League 1, he's rapidly loosing the plot and/or his sanity based on recent ramblings and our fan base won't put up with him for much longer unless there is a major turn around in the next two or three weeks. He and his family are also still based in the North West as far as I know.

Mellon is on a rolling one year contract at Town, maybe some kind of deal can be done which sees him move to Tranmere but would also be seen as a face saving exercise for all concerned without him being sacked. Our Chairman very rarely sacks managers.

As I was saying.

Mellon has a decent track record at that level, but only if very well backed financially.

I think he'll probably do a decent job at Tranmere but Tranmere fans should prepare themselves to see a ridiculously high turnover of playing staff, ever changing starting elevens and formations, often multiple formations being used within a single game.

I remember Micky Mellon the player. Couldn't stand him, only ever moved and passed the ball sideways.
As a manager i think Fleetwood were a bit premature getting rid of him. Things seem to of gone stale for him at Shrewsbury after leading them back to their natural level in league 1. Some good cup games/results if i remember rightly too.

That's a good appointment for Tranmere, Mellon has promotions at both National League and League Two
level so has the experience. Think his time had run it's course at Shrewsbury so good move all round.

Second lowest goalscorers in the league

Goals scored by strikers this season = 1

Goal difference of minus 8

Bye bye Mills

How long before Mills goes?
It looks like Wrexham are doing what Shrewsbury did with Mellon.... wait till someone equally shit sacks their manager (Tranmere) and then let them poach him so you don't need to pay him off.... I think Wrexham are waiting for York to want Mills after (eventually) sacking/losing McNamara

EXCLUSIVE: Can reveal that Jackie McNamara is not being paid and has ploughed lots of his own funds into York City. Causes issue with firing
Sounds odd but i do know a north eastern club in the northern league whos manager is also main backer and has been putting money in for years

This has been a rumour that's been floating around for a while. A basic sense check should suggest it's a load of rubbish, and Jason McGill has directly denied it on a couple of occasions. We're such a shambles at the moment that I'd believe almost anything, but I'm pretty sure that this one is not true.

So he's not good enough to manage the team yet he's essentially being kept on as caretaker manager? Really strange.

If York could just take Mills and Caskey off us that would be great.

If this was near end of season and manager was retireing i could understand normally managers assistant or a coach is caretaker failing that a senior player. Very odd way of operateing at york

Must be first time at club, staying manager until new one is appointed

I thought it was bad that Carden was taking tips regarding team selection and tactics from Brabin after he'd been sacked but this is even more ridiculous!

We had that last season with Moyses, was a terrible and weird end to the season.

Could imagine but didn't your manager step down due to his other business intrests. Think man citys boss stayed on for a bit once he said he was off

What does it say? Your forum is register only.

Dear York City Board

As you have just parted company with your manager today and will be looking for a replacement, you may be considering your ex-manager Gary Mills. He is possibly the best manager Wrexham have ever had and we would be very sorry to see him go but as you are a bigger club he may be tempted to move and I am sure that our board would, with reluctance, not stop him going, indeed would not even be looking for compensation. Gary would go with all the fans' best wishes and we are sure that he would be an ideal choice for you given his previous success at York. I am sure all fans would echo the above sentiments.

Kind regards
Red Passion

P.S. Please disregard all the apparent anti Gary Mills threads, they are just playful jests because we love him so much.

P.P.S. Such is our admiration for him, we will pay for a taxi to take him to York.

P.P.P.S. Gary Mills comes as a pair with Darren Caskey, but don't worry we'll pay his taxi fare as well.

Yeah he resigned as he was doing both running his business and managed the team too, doing around 80 hours a week he said. Our current management duo are rumoured by the players no less to stay up til 2am preparing for games!!!
