What are the players supposed to do, teleport into their changing rooms?

Edit: hope I got away with editing this post without anybody seeing it originally. :bg:
Get off the bloody coach and walk 20 yards along a salted pathway to a heated changing room ffs

Bolton don’t have that problem as they have their own hotel for the players to stay in so they can be ice free right from their beds to the stadium changing rooms then onto their under soil heated pitch surrounded by their 4 sided weather proof stands.

Scratching my head on this one.......your in tier 3 why would you be walking to the ground
That's what I was thinking. What conditions are the players likely to experience between their homes and the ground that they wouldn't experience if they left their houses at all?

Tier 4 an all

Any Walsall fans on here to advise on what their pitch is like in terms of covers and for thawing after a night of freezing?

I see by the weather forecast it’s going to be zero until about 10am, but not much warmer after that. Not looking good I’d say.

Apparently we reached Bristol before being told of the postponement. Which is about where we were on Tuesday on the way to Newport.
We must have done more uturns in Gordano Services than Boris in a Press Conference.

Ah yes, the Premier Inn, I've stayed there while I was on holiday in Bolton.

why would they treat us the same way as Bury......we had collateral hence we got new owners, Bury did not have much to bargain with....Hence nobody wanted to buy the club

You seem to forget you was in the same situation in the 1980s............typical
A debt of £250,000 isn't the same as £30,000,000 even with inflation and your tendency to exaggerate taken into account. At least the USA gets rid of its fantasising idiot on the 20th of January.

I work nights and it was about -4 or -5 so there's no way it would be thawed out - so the early decision was the right one.

Yes it was that temperature here too but this thing called the Sun seems to have melted the ice away.

Forgive my ignorance, but didn't pitch covers become compulsory a few years back. I know we had to buy some which our supporters raised the money for. They're meant to work up to -7 degrees.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. If we'd given it to 1 o clock to thaw and it was still frozen there will be questioning as to why it wasn't called off earlier.

Seems ridiculous to be playing Exeter at this time of year anyway.

Most only work to -4, and even then I'm sure we've probably got the cheapest option available.
Also, the game is at 3pm, which means the pitch could well freeze during the game!

Ours isn't the only game off, and I suspect a few more might have pitch inspections today.

Only the EFL Club's were made to buy pitch covers I think (£25k IIRC). You'd imagine promoted sides would also have to purchase them.

A couple of those glowing rods you have down by the docks, get them buried on the pitch and thats your underground heating sorted

When would you like to play us, May, like everyone else?
I would have thought being on the coast you would be less susceptible to freezing than, say, Harrogate. Their game is still on at the moment.
Just annoyed that we have had three of the last four called off, all of which are away trips that we will have to reschedule to a Tuesday night with no guarantee that will go ahead either.

It doesn't seem to be perfect as I see Accrington have had their game called off. Maybe before Andy Holt moans about having games called off he might have thought this a wise investment

As useless as the National League are we'd never play someone like Torquay over the Christmas period.

It rarely ever freezes here so it shows how unusual it is that we've had 4 days or so of the ground being solid.

I've counted that's the 17th version of the nuclear related joke you've made.

Few games off due to the weather which is going to be another issue to deal with alongside COVID.

The fixture list is going to get very messy.

It's not the Christmas period any more. It's just as likely to be cold for the rest of January and February (and the beast from the East was in March) so we have to play you some time.
Just seen that the current temperature is 3 degrees with sunny intervals. Get the barbecue out

Be interesting to see if we can finish the season on time that’s for sure.

If you believe what you read there is set to be some really bad weather throughout January so added to Covid (next week when all clubs are testing will be interesting) it may need an extension.
