Cheers Newport. Could have called it off earlier in the day.

No reason the club can't contact him earlier and advise to call it off.

Stuck in the bottom until 16th at least now.
They usually bring in a local referee to make a pitch inspection

We have had frost covers on for 3 days they were taken off this morning and the pitch was inspected by a local ref who passed it fit to play, then the match ref turned up walked the pitch and called it off saying there were parts too dangerous to play on.

Local ref is obviously not up to scratch then. Newport is notorious for a poor pitch with games being cancelled this time of year.

Our game at Colchester is off. Covid issues in both squads apparently.

The perils of sharing a pitch with 2 rugby sides but then again the stadium is owned by the wru, but look on the bright side at 5o'clock tonight you will be bottom with a game in hand instead of bottom on equal games.

Looks like it’s Crookes with Covid then but he is a bench warmer so same XI that held out against Bradford well.

Main boost is the bench with three of our big injuries returning, Worrall, Monty and Cullen so at least have some options today, Gibbons and Manny along with Conlon in contention for Grimsby at home so hopefully get all our big players back after this game.

You'd think these issues would be known about a bit earlier than 2pm.

It’s a weird one isn’t it. Our statement indicates that the League were happy for it to go ahead as were we which would indicate Colchester weren’t. Not like we’d just travel to Colchester for fun so it’s a bit strange.

Our squad is absolutely decimated.

Comfortable win for Walsall after seeing our lineup.

Rules are a mess, we’ve got 2 out with covid and had to test 2 more! Yet have played. There is zero clarity. Apparently Wimbledon are having to play today despite 5 out.

Andy Holt said on Twitter that EFL are forcing games to go ahead despite Covid, and heard that we were told we would face punishment if we postponed another game because of Covid after the two we postponed earlier in the season.

Poor line up for Mansfield, I can only presume quite a few who should be starting are going this month.

zero pace in the first 11 which is a worry.

Yep. Your statement says "the club" had two cases, our one says issues in both camps. All very cryptic.

Oh well, at least we won't lose this week.

Give up with Evatt, 3 centre backs on the pitch and 3 on the bench....ffs
Does he not see that Crawley actually play football and are not a hoof ball team

We’ve chucked McKirdy and Theo Robinson out... even out three kids on the bench at Bradford.

Sadly this comes a week to soon with our six big absentees close. Although three have made the bench at least it’s still a midfield with Whitehead.

See it’s snowing now so may be orange ball time by KO!

We're still a bit threadbare.

Tanner, Walker and Devine out with long term injuries
Anderton isolating still
Mellish and Reilly both out short term carrying knocks
Dickenson back in training but not fit enough for the bench
Toure in France on compassionate leave, but will have to isolate when he returns

Fingers crossed conditions are at least better than for our last three games because frozen pitches, heavy rain and high winds have really been doing a number on our makeshift squad. Isn't Walsall the highest altitude club in the league?

EDIT: Dickenson is on the bench. Great news but I wouldn't expect him to feature unless we're desperate.
