For what it's worth I thought MK were excellent and looked a level above us, so I'll take it as a bit of a smash and grab win to be honest. On another day they win that by two or three.
Sounds like Bradford then! Could have easily won 2 games comfortably but instead we’ve lost 4-1 on aggregate and have 0 points.

The goal difference from last 5 competitive games. 17 goals conceded. 2 scored…resulting in 0 wins, 0 draws, 5 defeats.

Or to get more depressing, 1 win in 7. 29 goals conceded in the past 10 games.

Thought we played pretty well today and was deserving of our 2 nil lead. Cheltenham then made some changes and started to control midfield.

Their first was a bit fortunate but our keeper should have done better, from then on it was all them as we lost our way. When they equalized it only looked like one team was going to win.

But they were giving silly fouls away all day as evidenced by their 6 yellows, and giving one away on the edge of the box in injury time, up steps Davies. Cheers.

Plenty of time for everything to change. I don't expect Bromley to be in the top three come the end of the season. But they are showing they shouldn't be underestimated by people.

Why what will they do?

I don't know anything about Bromley but I'm sure they'll just be another nice little non-league club who'll be a push over when we play them.

Game went exactly as I thought it would. Tranmere have a good manager who nullified Garrity and they were generally very well drilled and organised. You could tell that their team was more familiar with each other.

We've started with the view that we need to cut out conceding silly goals, and build from a solid base. Which kind of negates our attack. I think Benicio might have offered a point of difference today with pace as it all felt a bit slow. We also need Byers to be fit as soon as possible so that we have that added creativity. Everything looks a bit clumsy at the moment.

Tranmere looked a bit more cohesive at times as they have a more settled and established side. They're set up to be really tough to play against but perhaps lack a bit of quality at the top end of the pitch. I think both teams should be troubling the right half of the league hopefully.

I said before the game that it will take us at least 10 games to form a style of play and cohesiveness. I think we'll get better going forward once we have gelled.

Thought the ref was over fussy and we could easily have been a man down. He certainly didn't help the game to flow. Too much involvement when not needed.

Good following by Tranmere and a good atmosphere with over 8000 in.

Can't complain today great away performance Can't really single one player out they all played well however Swindon were diabolical just hoof it to Harry Smith and when that didn't work they had no plan b as they couldn't win the physical battle either.
Not getting carried away though we still need a few more players through the door but it's a better start than I expected.

I have a feeling they'll be like Sutton when they first came up. We played them early in that season and were far superior in terms of footballing ability but we just couldn't handle their direct style of play. Lost 3-2.

The next season, teams started to suss them out and they ended up dropping back.

Well we’ve sacked our manager so my depressing outlook was bang on.

The office manager that is. Willy still here annoyingly.

Impressive result from Chesterfield! It just shows that they've got some seriously good attacking players when it clicks. Surprised with Walsall to be honest...I didn't think their squad was up to much but that's a great result too.

It seems that Crewe have let go of 2 or 3 of their better players and the rest are in a poor run of form, spanning back to last season. The replacements don't seem as good as those they have replaced which creates a downward spiral.

At least they have time in the transfer window but it's whether they have the budget to bring in difference makers. They mseem to sign an abundance of technical players but occasionally lack in those league 2 bullies that you need. Manager seems like a bit of a PE teacher in the Crosby mold. Time to change things around but confidence must be pretty low.

It'd had been a nice Summer. What, some excellent Summer sport to watch, Tour de France, Cricket, not to mention the Olympic Games. It was upon reading these couple of sentences that I realised there was just one piece that would complete it all.

No, I called you arrogant because you were being a twat. I said countless times how shit we were.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is football.

I’ve been in and around football long enough to know success and failure are just inches apart, but our performance against Wimbledon today was simply professional, against a team I’m sure have intentions of being in or around promotion this year. I think we’ve made a few sit up and take notice, we won’t be rolled over and we will compete at Div 2 level. Still very early days, but we have astute Management and the calibre of players who look comfortable at Div 2 level. Onwards and upwards

Why on earth didn't Kouyate start for Barrow. Your best player by a mile in the week and surely a threat in league 2?

That's true and thank you mate.

I really do look forward to visiting your ground and I'm sure your team will give us a nice fair and friendly game of football with plenty of sportsmanship on show. :)

We've been surprised so far mate we still need a few more players heard 2 are coming in this week we were brilliant today though but like I said Swindon were very very poor and looked a bit clueless.

Some shocking camera quality in some of the games today including ours against Barrow.

It must be this Sky sports + thing who are responsible surely. It needs fixed because it's not good to watch.

Frustrating to come back to 2-2 and then give it away, but can't take anything away from Grimsby's 2nd and 3rd goals - top strikes.

Going to be an up and down season if the first two games are anything to go by. We've a young, raw squad and there's plenty of talent there but we'll probably lose as many as we win.

not much in our game and draw probably fair. ref was atrocious, how he didnt send sang off ill never know and then paton gets dragged down by their last man and doesnt get a foul.

i think we had two very good 20 minute spells at the beginning of each half but tranmeres subs changed the game in their favour, got some pace on and started getting in behind down the flanks.

Couldn’t get to the game but a great result for County ending our 10 game losing streak. A massive win to help ease any worries about the direction Jenkins & Jardim are taking us in.

I said our recruitment was underwhelming and I've been proven wrong. It was actually disastrous.

Needed an experienced GK after issues with Harvey Davies and the injuries to Tom Booth. If the recruitment team actually scouted rather than relied on analytics, they'd realise Marschall wasn't the answer just watching his performances for MK Dons. If your average football fan watching YouTube highlights can see he was bad last season, then Kennard with his greater access to data and scouting material genuinely has no excuses. He was one of the last keepers we should've signed. But we judge keepers on how they pass the ball and virtually nothing else because we're idiots.

I'm not sure about Connolly at all, we needed someone more experienced and commanding. He just seems to be a vanilla CB not good enough for League One and with no strengths.

Don't get me started on Max Sanders. He will go into our all time worst Alex XIs. If you're retaining Conor Thomas on a 2 year deal (lunacy in the first place given he offers nothing), then why not sign another crock that doesn't have any strengths to his game? Better still, let's play them together! We needed an experienced ball winning midfielder in the Paul Green mould. Instead, we signed a Conor Thomas clone with less EFL appearances than Oli Finney for a fee!

Cambridge have been one of the lowest scoring sides in the 92 the past 2 years. We've signed two wingers from them in two seasons that have very little end product. We've given a 3 year deal to Lankester who looks like Ainley 2.0 already. No pace, no strength, no end product.

Needed a striker that didn't have fitness issues. Instead we retain sick note Long, sign another sick note with attitude problems at previous clubs in Bogle and now expect the ageing Kane Hemmings to lead the line on his own in sheer isolation.

The problem with this football club is we almost always sign external players on the decline. Players who are dropping from League One because they're not good enough to play there or players who are often injured. We shun the National League and non league markets where you can find players on the rise (like James Berry who was once at Macclesfield). What we do isn't a winning formula, it's disastrous recruitment.

The mess of having the likes of Oli Finney, Dave Richards, Regan Griffiths, Callum Ainley, Charlie Colkett, Billy Sass-Davies etc on ridiculous long term contracts was cured by Bell. But he's repeated this mistake again. Lankester until 2027 is potentially one of the worst contracts this club has ever given. What has he done in the game apart from show signs of sheer decline throughout his career?

Firmly in the Bell Out camp and never thought I'd be saying that 6 months ago. We're absolutely boring. Football is all about entertainment and we don't even score goals let alone win games. 27 of our last 34 halves have been goalless and the last 16 goals to go in at Gresty Road were all scored by the opposition. He's also 4 more home defeats from breaking an all time club record that Artell set only 3 seasons ago.

Time's up. But if the club dare appoint Ryan Dicker as his replacement then judging on his managerial performance vs Morecambe last season (the big turning point for us), then we're as good as down.

We deserved to take the lead after 30 minutes and then it basically turned into last seasons fixture. Newport pressed us, we looked lethargic compared to them, couldn’t tackle, pass or defend and Newport deserved the win. I expect McCann will be livid and that there will be plenty of changes in the next game. The one bright spark was Fleming , he looked good when he came on.

Surprising result that one but I guess every team in the league will have days like that now and again. I always think Newport is a really tough place to go.
