ANNOUNCERS - JOHN "BRADSHAW" LAYFIELD, MAURO RANALLO & BYRON SAXTON

The show opens with Randy Orton backstage and is asked about his match with Alberto Del Rio tonight and how he is staying focused for his match with Brock Lesnar at Summerslam. Orton spoke of being the legend killer and it only takes one RKO to get to viperville. Del Rio walks up and compares Viperville with Disneyland. Del Rio wants to see if Orton can do anything with a broke arm before staring off with Orton as he walks off.

Bray Wyatt kicks off Smackdown Live alongside Erick Rowan, he spoke how he did not fall to Dolph Ziggler last week. He spoke how Ziggler was desperate and then came deception, he spoke of Ziggler putting his face in steel knowing it is the only way and spoke how everything went black and he had to take in the fact that everything had been taken from him again. He refers to himself as a God and Ziggler can never kill a God. Wyatt said that he can always ask his friend Dean Ambrose and he will tell Ziggler his teeth are very sharp. Wyatt claims that this is his show now, and there is no red or blue, it is Bray Wyatt against the whole world.

The WWE World Champion Dean Ambrose interrupts and calls Wyatt a big old baby. He says that Smackdown Live belongs to the people and the WWE World Champion. Ambrose said that Wyatt thinks he will run to the ring and take a 2-on-1 beatdown before saying how tempting it is to run in the ring and punch Wyatt in the mouth before Dolph Ziggler interrupts.

Ziggler jumps in the ring and goes after Wyatt and Rowan before they overwhelm him, Ambrose jumps in the ring but Wyatt and Rowan turn their attentions on to the WWE World Champion instead. Ambrose soon throws Rowan over the top rope, Wyatt had Ambrose set up for the Sister Abigail but Ziggler went for the superkick, which accidentally hit Ambrose. Ziggler hit Rowan with the superkick before Wyatt hit him with the Sister Abigail.

Backstage, Ambrose told Ziggler that he didn't need his help. Ziggler said he was jumped last week and wanted to prove something. Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan walk up and Bryan makes Ambrose & Ziggler vs. Wyatt & Rowan tonight. He then adds if Ziggler didn't like it, then he will borrow a phrase that Dolph used last week, "screw you".

1# American Alpha bt. Mike Vega & Mikey O'Shea
(The Ascension walk out yelling at American Alpha before the match as The Vaudevillains and The Hype Bros also show up at ringside. After the match, all 3 teams hit the ring and a big brawl breaks out but American Alpha clean house and stand tall.)

We are back with Renee Young who introduces The Miz and Maryse, Renee wants to take a look at Miz's Summerslam opponent, Apollo Crews. However instead, Miz turns his attention to Maryse as they crawl up on the desk. We see a video package of Apollo Crews and his time in the WWE so far. Renee once again tries to ask them about Apollo Crews but Miz and Maryse continue to lie on the desk with Maryse claiming no one will beat her husband, then they both claim how hot they are.

We were set for a match between Becky Lynch and Eva Marie, Marie motions her leg is fine this week. However as the match is set to begin, she has a wardrobe malfunction and the referee claims the match will not happen because of it. Lynch grabbed a microphone and claimed she is frustrated before issuing an open challenge which is answered by Alexa Bliss who claims she is Team Blue's hottest star.

2# Alexa Bliss bt. Becky Lynch
(The announcer came on and announced that Eva Marie was now ready to compete. This distracted Lynch as Bliss got a shot in on her before hitting the twisted bliss splash to get the 3. Post-match, Eva Marie is interviewed on the ramp and she claims that she did all she could to get back involved tonight but Bliss beat her to the punch. She says she will make her official Smackdown debut next week.)

3# Randy Orton bt. Alberto Del Rio Via DQ
(Orton clotheslines Del Rio over the timekeepers barricade area. Orton started clearing off the announce table at ringside as Del Rio hit Orton in the arm with a steel chair to cause the DQ. Post-match, Del Rio hit Orton again with the steel chair before sending him shoulder first in to the ring post. Del Rio hit Orton with another shot on Orton to the post before rolling him back in the ring, however once Del Rio got in the ring with the chair, Orton hit an RKO out of no where.)

4# Rhyno bt. Heath Slater
(If Heath Slater had won the match, he would have earned a contract with Smackdown.)

Erick Rowan comes on-screen, Wyatt asks Rowan is if he prepared to give his life for this family before asked him to destroy. Rowan finishes by saying "Run".

Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan are backstage with Heath Slater, however Slater came in and yelled at both Shane and Daniel and said that Smackdown Live doesn't deserve him. Shane McMahon had a contract for Slater for Smackdown but quickly closes it after the outburst.

Carmella is making her way out and cuts a promo, however, Natalya attempts to attack her but Carmella saw it coming and threw elbows at her. They run in to the ring and continue brawling. The referee separates them both and calls for the bell to kick things off.

Renee Young introduces a video package looking at John Cena vs. AJ Styles.

We see Baron Corbin backstage who is attacking Kalisto.

6# Dolph Ziggler & Dean Ambrose bt. Erick Rowan & Bray Wyatt

We see Bobby Roode and William Regal walking out of Regal's office earlier today with Roode thanking him for the meeting.

NXT opens with William Regal presenting a contract signing between Bayley and Asuka for the NXT Women's Championship at Takeover. Bayley spoke how she has been fighting for the last 3 and a half years, competed against the best in the women's division in NXT and has always been the underdog, until she won the title last year in Brooklyn. She said that Dallas was a nightmare for her as she was not prepared for how tough Asuka was but right here, right now, she is ready to become the first ever 2-time NXT Women's Champion. Asuka tells Bayley she doesn't have what it takes but she respects her. Bayley refused to shake Asuka's hand and warned her to sign the contract ot she'll be lying on the mat like her last contract signing. Both women make it official for August 20th before Bayley once again refuses to shake Asuka's hand. She returns to the ring as Asuka holds the title up in Bayley's face.

1# Authors of Pain (w/ Paul Ellering) bt. Adrian Nailz & Rob Ryzin
(Post-match, the Authors of Pain are about to inflict more damage until TM 61 attempt to make the save to no avail as both men get destroyed by the authors of pain.)

Andrea D'Marco is backstage with Shinsuke Nakamura and asks him about his match with Samoa Joe at Takeover. He says that he will find Joe when he wants to, as he pretends to go looking for him.

2# Andrade "Cien" Almas bt. Angelo Dawkins
(Post-match, Bobby Roode makes his way out and congratulates Cien on the win. Roode told Cien that he is here to congratulate him on making NXT Takeover a little more sophisticated, a little more star-powered. It's going need to be glorious and that's what Bobby Roode has to offer. It will be Roode vs. Cien at Takeover, Roode says that it's his showcase and that August 20th will be glorious.)

Austin Aries is backstage in William Regal's office, he makes his case for how special the takeover card would be if he is on it. Regal agrees that Aries should have an opponent at Takeover and makes Aries vs. No Way Jose on August 20th.

3# Billie Kay bt. Liv Morgan

Backstage, William Regal praises Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa for their match on the WWE Cruiserweight Classic. However he says that he doesn't want their team to be messed up because they're facing the Revival at Takeover for the NXT Tag Team Championship. Ciampa says that families stick together, Gargano told Regal that history will repeat itself for the revival when they lose their tag team titles to them.

We see a promo for Ember Moon who will be arriving on August 20th at NXT Takeover.

5# Samoa Joe bt. Mojo Rawley Via Submission in a non-title match
(Post-match, Joe holds the NXT Championship before re-applying the Coquina Clutch on Mojo once more. Referees try and break the hold until Nakamura makes his way to the stage and comes to the ring where security hold back Joe in the ring. Nakamura pulls Joe's nose and slaps him which gets Joe even more riled up as the show closes.)

(Post-match, Cedric walked out of Full Sail with the respect of the WWE Universe, who did not stop cheering for the competitor. The WWE Universe in attendance began to chant "Please sign Cedric". WWE COO Triple H emerged and put his stamp of approval on the competitor signalling that the WWE Universe hadn't seen the last of him.)

We see footage from earlier today where Seth Rollins is outside, he said that we are only 6 days away from proving he is the man and turning the inevitable in to reality when he becomes the first ever WWE Universal Champion. Rollins said he wants to call out the "Demon King" right now, he then laughs and claims Balor is too scared to find him so he will find the Demon King himself tonight.

We go live inside the arena where Rusev and Lana are yelling at people, Lana has a microphone and says they are not leaving the ring and everyone in Corpus Christi will listen to what they have to say. Rusev gets the mic and says that Roman Reigns ruined a historical even last week and said that because of this, we won't have an episode of Raw until he comes out and apologies.

Instead of Reigns, the GM of Raw Mick Foley came out and demanded that Rusev leave the ring. Rusev refuses and even tells the hardcore legend that he sucks. He goes further by questioning Foley on his decision of booking the United States Championship match at Summerslam. He then demands that Stephanie McMahon comes to the ring right now.

The Commissioner of Monday Night Raw makes her way to the ring and calls Rusev's behaviour completely unacceptable. She said that she supports all of Foley's decisions, Rusev demands that he deserves respect. Rusev proposed that he might give Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan a call as they might appreciate a United States Champion. Roman Reigns then made his way down and "apologies" for Rusev on the website where he got Lana and also made fun of how hairy their babies will be. He said that he knows they have a scheduled match at Summerslam for the title, but says he does not want to wait until then. He gets in the face of Rusev before Foley broke it up. Stephanie then said the title match will take place at Summerslam, however Rusev says he wants to defend his wife's honour so Foley proposes that a non-title match between both men takes place tonight.

Before the next match, Byron Saxton spoke with Sheamus inside the ring. He spoke how he has proved he was the more dominant athlete the last few weeks and tonight he focuses on Sami Zayn, who "hides behind his twitter and his little comments".

(Cesaro was on commentary for the match, during the match, Cesaro leaves the commentary table and distracts Sheamus. This allowed Zayn to hit the Helluva kick on Sheamus to get the 3.)

Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho are backstage, Owens talks about facing Big Cass tonight and Jericho will be in his corner. Owen jokes that Cass doesn't seem to know how to spell.

Sheamus and Cesaro are arguing backstage which was broken up by Mick Foley. Foley said he questioned them both last week, he then announced a best of 7 series between both men with the first match starting this sunday at Summerslam.

2# The New Day bt. Dudley Boyz in a non-title match
(Before the match, we see another "ringpostitis" video from Gallows and Anderson. Post-match, we see another video from the number 1 contenders who tell Kofi and Xavier that they plan to conduct more tests on them. Kofi spoke how they seriously hurt Big E, Woods spoke of how Summerslam last year is where they started their reign as the WWE Tag Team Champions and they don't plan on losing them.)

Seth Rollins is looking for Finn Balor backstage and bumps in to Neville, Neville told Rollins that he had been in the ring with the demon king and that Rollins isn't ready.

3# Nia Jax bt. Rachel Levy

Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman walk to the ring, before Heyman can introduce himself, he was interrupted by Heath Slater. Slater said that he has come to Heyman as he is the "hottest free agency in sports entertainment today". Heyman mocked Slater, Slater spoke that if he beat Lesnar tonight then he has an opportunity for a Raw contract and an appearance at Summerslam. Slater asks Heyman's permission before Heyman completely cut Slater out of the picture and began to hype Summerslam. Slater interrupts once again and told Heyman not to disrespect him, Heyman continued to tell Slater that he is trying to save his ass despite Slaters' claims that he has kids to feed. Lesnar grabbed the microphone and told Slater he did not give a shit about his kids, he gives Slater two choices: he can walk out on his own two feet, or he can stand there and keep pissing him off, as Lesnar throws down the microphone. Slater starts to walk away but then goes to attack Lesnar, Lesnar hit Slater with a clothesline and then a release German suplex. Lesnar hit Slater with an F5 before kicking him out of the ring.

Heyman came back in the ring and gave Slater credit for trying to go face-to-face with Lesnar. He then turns his attention to Randy Orton and how he can't measure up to Lesnar. He spoke of the beast being the box office this Sunday, and hypes it by saying that: this Sunday at SummerSlam you have the chance to see a once ever athlete in action in an official match with an official result that will go down in the history books. He said you have a rare opportunity to see one of the greatest sports entertainers and athletes in combat sports, the nightmare of Suplex City, live in action, the Viper slayer, this Sunday at SummerSlam, you get to see BROCK LESNAR.

Before the next match, Big Cass spoke of how he will have a BBQ at Summerslam this Sunday with Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho referring to them as Canadian bacon.

4# Big Cass (w/ Enzo Amore) bt. Kevin Owens (w/ Chris Jericho) Via DQ
(Jericho hits a cheap shot on Enzo which Cass sees and chases down Jericho. Cass hits a shot on Owens when he rolls out, Jericho then attacks Cass at ringside which causes the DQ. Post-match, Jericho and Owens throws Cass in to the ring barricade, they throw him back in the ring but despite an attempt at a fightback, Owens hits a superkick and Jericho hits a codebreaker.)

Roman Reigns is backstage and spoke how he will whoop Rusev's ass tonight and represent his bloodline. He says he is ready for anything when Rusev attacks Reigns from behind, Reigns fights back until Rusev whips Reigns in to a steel door and charges at him. Rusev throws him over a catering table until officials break it up.

5# The Shining Stars bt. The Primetime Players (w/ Bob Backlund)
(Titus is talking to Backlund when Young is pushed in to Titus. Moments later, Titus hit a clash of the Titus on Young which led to Primo getting the pinfall.)

6# Neville bt. Jinder Mahal

Mick Foley is talking with Stephanie McMahon backstage and reveals that Jon Stewart will be a special guest this Sunday. Seth Rollins walked in and spoke how he has been trying to find the Demon King, he says he has stuff to do and wants the night off. Foley then suggested that he goes to the ring and calls out the Demon King unless he was scared. Rollins said he isn't scared and went do it.

Seth Rollins made his way to the ring and complains about not being able to find the Demon King, he then spoke how nothing will stop him from becoming the WWE Universal Champion this Sunday. He says that he is giving the "Demon King" one more chance to come and face him one-on-one.

Rollins continues to speak how Balor is scared of him like everyone else who steps in the ring, the lights go out and then we see "The Demon King" make his way to the ring. Balor gets in to the face of Rollins and both men exchange shots, Balor gets the better of Rollins with body kicks and a quick dropkick. Rollins gives Balor a kick to the head before Balor hits an overhead kick and then dropkicks him in to the corneer. Balor misses his Coup De Grace as Rollins rolls out of the ring, Balor launches himself over the top and takes out Rollins.

7# Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson bt. The Golden Truth
(Post-match, Kofi and Xavier attack Gallows and Anderson. Woods attempted to hit hit Anderson in the groin with the trombone put Gallows pulls him out and bails from the ring with Anderson.)

Dana Brooke is apologising to Charlotte backstage, Charlotte spoke how Dana failed her when it mattered the most. Charlotte said that it was her spotlight and not Dana's, she said tonight she will beat Alicia Fox by herself and will win back the title at Summerslam. She told Dana that she is replaceable and might ask Stephanie McMahon to find someone better for her.

8# Charlotte bt. Alicia Fox
(Sasha Bank was on commentary for the match. Post-match, Charlotte calls Sasha to the ring. Once Sasha gets in to the ring, Dana Brooke gets in and Sasha drops Dana with an elbow. Charlotte then chop blocks Banks and applied the Figure-8 with Dana stomping over Banks who is tapping out.)

We see a video package looking at Braun Strowman.

Smackdown Live opens with Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan talking backstage about how "Team Blue" is going to be the brand to beat at Summerslam. Shane then gets Randy Orton to sign the contract for his match against Brock Lesnar this Sunday. Orton says the match might not go as long as anticipated as it only takes one RKO to get a 3 count. Orton signs the contract and then Heath Slater comes in with a basket of fruit. He throws an apple to Orton and spoke of standing toe-to-toe with Lesnar last night on Raw and he is the hottest free agent in sports entertainment. Shane spoke how they can't keep giving him chances, Slater said that they're in a pickle when Bryan told him they are actually in the opposite of a pickle. Orton took a bite of his apple and says he has an idea.

The Miz and Maryse are in the ring for another edition of Miz TV, moments later, Miz was cut off by Dean Ambrose. Moments after the WWE World Champion entered the ring, he was interrupted by Dolph Ziggler. Ambrose and Ziggler quickly go face-to-face, Miz tries to calm things down and raises the question of what if Ziggler loses at Summerslam after his recent career resurgence. Ziggler seemed unfazed by what happens after Summerslam, he is only worried about this Sunday.

Ambrose goes on to say how he doesn't buy the new Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler told Miz to keep his mouth shut when he went speak, Ziggler spoke of using the critics as fuel and that everything Ambrose has said to him over the last 3 weeks has made him want to kick off his neck. Ziggler states that Ambrose will have to admit after Summerslam that he was the last push that put him over the edge to beat him for the title.

Ambrose dismissed the argument of Ziggler by saying that even if he somehow wins and proves everyone wrong this Sunday, the critics and the doubters are still there. He says Ziggler doesn't like pressure and he can't handle it as to why he has never "grabbed the ball and scored a touch down". Ambrose spoke how the chip on Ziggler's shoulder is huge and it will weigh him down and bury him as he has never felt pressure like he'll feel at Summerslam, he also goes on to tell Ziggler that he will prove to everyone he doesn't want it bad enough and will never get it. In response, Ziggler told Ambrose that he doesn't know a damn thing about him but the only thing Ambrose does know is that he'll have to dig down deep this sunday and it still won't be enough as he doesn't have enough to put him away. As Ambrose reaches down deep and pulls out his hair for one last move - Ziggler all of a sudden hit Ambrose with a superkick. Ziggler finished by saying that this Sunday, Ambrose will realise he is that damn good, before leaving the ring.

We see that during the commercial break, Miz stayed in the ring and talked trash about Apollo Crews and even mocked him by calling him Apollo Creed. Crews came out to correct his name, Miz talked back to him so Crews hit him with a spinout powerbomb.

1# American Alpha, The Usos & The Hype Bros bt. The Vaudevillains, The Ascension and Breezango in a 12-man tag team match

It was set to be Naomi squaring off against Eva Marie, the announcer goes through a long entrance before announcing that she has been delayed due to traffic and unable to compete.

As John Cena will face Alberto Del Rio in tonight's main event, we go back to Hell In A Cell 2015 when Del Rio returned to the WWE and beat Cena for the WWE United States Championship. Following this we see Del Rio warming up backstage when AJ Styles walks up to him. Styles told Del Rio that he is jealous that he gets to knock the smirk of the face that runs the place. Del Rio brushed off everything that Styles said and told him he does not need a pep talk, Styles told him that's why he is in the main event at Summerslam and he isn't even on the card.

A video airs of ridiculous facts as Curt Hawkins will be debuting soon.

2# Heath Slater bt. Randy Orton Via DQ
(Orton got disqualified when he continued to beat Slater in the corner. Post-match, Orton threw Slater over the announce table before hitting a draping DDT to the floor from the barricade. He throws Slater in the ring and when the free agent got to his feet, Orton hit him with two German suplexed before hitting an RKO.)

A doctor is examining Slater in the trainer's room when Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan walked in and mentioned he technically won, therefore they are ready to give him a contract. However Slater things he is Mick Foley before telling Shane he looks beautiful, thinking he is Stephanie McMahon. Shane then takes the contract away.

3# Dean Ambrose bt. Erick Rowan (w/ Bray Wyatt) in a non-title match
(During the commercial before the match, we saw Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton go face-to-face. Post-match, Wyatt looked disgusted at Rowan before staring at his sheep mask and then walking off on him.)

4# Becky Lynch & Carmella bt. Natalya & Alexa Bliss Via Submission
(During the match, Eva Marie's music hit and made her way to the stage and blew a kiss to the crowd. Naomi then came out to challenge her as Eva Marie begged her and she ran away. Naomi chased her around the ring as Eva gets in the ring. Natalya grabbed Naomi and threw her out of the ring. Natalya rolled up Becky but moments later it was Becky who applied the Dis-Arm-Her to get the win.)

Backstage, Baron Corbin is smashing Kalisto's head in to a metal garage door. He tells Kalisto that some men are born to be victims and anytime he gets up, he'll put him back down. Corbin says he does whatever he wants, whenever he wants, and to whomever he wants.

We see a video previewing Randy Orton vs. Brock Lesnar: 15 years in the making.

5# John Cena bt. Alberto Del Rio
(AJ Styles was on commentary for this mach. Post-match, Styles hits Cena with a Phenomenal forearm. Styles stood over Cena and told him that he is sick and tired of hearing that the future runs through him, he told him that this Sunday when he beats Cena then he will be the face that runs the place. Styles goes for a Styles Clash but Cena comes back with an AA. Cena slaps Styles' head on the steel steps before hitting him with an AA from the steel steps, through the announce table.)

We see a preview video for the Bayley vs. Asuka match for the NXT Women's Championship at Takeover. We then see footage of Bobby Roode, Austin Aries, No Way Jose, Andrade "Cien" Almas, The Revival, Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa talk about their respective matches this Saturday.

William Regal has a few words to share in his office, he is interrupted by Billie Kay who says that this can't be the best NXT Takeover yet when she isn't on the card. Regal agrees and makes it happen so she will be facing the debuting Ember Moon this Saturday.

2# Carmella, Liv Morgan & Nikki Glenncross bt. Mandy Rose, Daria Berenato & Alexa Bliss Via Submission in a Six woman tag team match

We see an exclusive interview between Samoa Joe and Shinsuke Nakamura leading in to Takeover, which is led by Byron Saxton. Both men spoke of their match this Saturday, Joe spoke of his dislike on how he had to jump through every hoop to get a shot at the NXT Championship. He mentioned how Regal never spoke to him about the match and wondered if he had it in for him.

Joe mentioned how Nakamura trained in his Dojo in LA, Nakamura claimed he does not remember that. Saxton asked Joe if he respects Nakamura and he says that he is not too sure. Nakamura says he respects Joe before he leans in and smirks. Joes told him he's going to respect him in Brooklyn, Joe says he wants to beat the respect in to Nakamura as he tries to get to him but Regal tells security to escort Joe out of the interview as it is now over.

They enjoy a "Beat up John Cena" line when Finn Balor walks up. They throw up the two sweet as Balor smiles before walking off.

Jon Stewart heads to the ring and spoke about the AJ Styles vs. John Cena match, before making a comment that he was happy no idiot interfered. He spoke about being here last year and learning his lesson by hitting Cena with a steel chair, and then gives advice on when you are in a situatio where you may be hit with an AA, "tuck your shirt in", as no one needs to see "old man belly". Stewart spoke of being asked by the New Day to be here tonight as he takes off his hoodie to reveal a new day t-shirt and says he will take the place of Big E at ringside tonight.

5# Gallows & Anderson bt. The New Day (w/ Jon Stewart) Via DQ in a WWE Tag Team Championship match
(Gallows and Anderson go after Stewart before grabbing him by the legs and pointing at the ringpost. Big E returns and takes out Anderson before hitting a belly-to-belly on Gallows. Big E threw Gallows at the ring barricade as the referee called for the bell. Post-match, Big E launches Anderson at the ring barricade. He throws the titles in the ring, takes a drink from the glass containers at ringside which Gallows and Anderson have been using recently before dancing in the ring.)

6# Dean Ambrose bt. Dolph Ziggler to retain the WWE World Championship

Eva Marie was set to be involved in tonight's 6 woman tag team match however the voice announcer had announced she is currently on vacation after suffering from exhaustion. Nikki Bella returned and replaced her.

We go to tonight's kickoff panel who discuss tonight's show.

It was set to be Rusev vs. Roman Reigns for the WWE United States Championship. However Rusev immediately attacked Roman Reigns before the match began and threw him in to steel steps at ringside. Both men continue to brawl around ringside until Reigns hit Rusev in the ribs and on the back with a steel chair with the official ruling that Rusev is not able to compete tonight. Before Reigns leaves, he hits Rusev with a huge spear.

8# Brock Lesnar (w/ Paul Heyman) bt. Randy Orton Via TKO
(After Lesnar threw many forearms and elbows which busted open the Viper, the referee calls for the bell. Post-match, Lesnar continues to attack Orton with Shane McMahon getting in to the ring to try and stop the beast. Moments later, Lesnar hit Shane with an F5.)

The show opens with Byron Saxton, Michael Cole and Corey Graves talking about Finn Balor suffering a dislocated shoulder at Summerslam last night. They talk about Balor waking up in pain and undergoing an MRI, Balor will require surgery for a torn labrum and will be out of action for 6 months.

Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon are in the ring and introduce the first ever WWE Universal Champion, Finn Balor to the ring. Balor came down to the ring with his arm in a sling, he grabs a microphone and spoke how the title represents a lifetime of sacrifice and that if you believe in yourself, you can achieve absolutely anything. Balor spoke about winning the title last night and also the sacrifice which was made doing so. He thanks Seth Rollins for giving him the "match of his life", and also thanked the fans before saying that for now, he has to relinquish the title. Balor said that he is coming back for the title when he ready to go as Mick Foley walked over and removed the title off his shoulder before giving him a hug and raising his arm.

Balor exits the ring as Seth Rollins walks out to the ring with a grin on his face, Rollins spoke of how we know who the real winner was at Summerslam last night. Rollins thinks that tonight should be a celebration and spoke of being apart of some fabulous championship celebrations with Stephanie, he then points out that Stephanie, Mick and the WWE Universal Championship is here, so he suggests that we have a championship celebration right now. Sami Zayn interrupts followed by Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens. Enzo and Big Cass make their way out before Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring.

Foley says everyone is deserving of a championship match, he then proposes a series of matches, culminating next week to crown a new WWE Universal Champion. Stephanie announces we are starting tonight immediately with Sami Zayn vs. Seth Rollins. Owens distracts Zayn and allows Rollins to attack him right away.

(Post-match, Michael Cole reveals that a fatal 4-way has been set by Mick Foley which will feature Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and two more spots which will be filled later tonight, the winner will be the new WWE Universal Champion.)

The New Day make their way to the ring, Big E spoke of being back and Kofi talks about the new day being the WWE Tag Team Champions for 365 days. They thanked the fans for being vocal for the good and bad times, Woods picks up a pinata filled with Booty O's before Big E grabbed a stick ready to begin the festivities. The frivolities was short lived when Gallows and Anderson interrupted and called them stupid, they spoke how the New Day lost the match last night which means they are owed a title rematch. Anderson insults Kofi before asking him if he enjoyed he Magic Killer which he received last night. Kofi tells Big E to defend him, Big E has nothing so we are ready for the match.

3# Big E (w/ The New Day) bt. Karl Anderson (w/ Luke Gallows)

The Dudley Boyz will say farewell tonight and we see a video of them debuting in the WWE on September 2nd 1999.

Titus O'Neil is in the ring and spoke how the Primetime Players were the WWE Tag Team Champions a year ago. He said that it turned out to be the best day of his life because he "dropped the dead weight that was Darren Young". Titus starts running down Bob Backlund questioning how he can make Darren Young great again when Backlund was never great to begin with, Titus then blamed Young for preventing him from accomplishing things in the WWE. Titus then called out his former partner, Bob Backlund made his way to the ring. Titus threw Backlund in to the corner, Backlund went for the Crossface Chicken wing but Titus broke free and dropped Backlund with a Scoop Slam. Darren Young hit the ring and checked on Backlund, however Titus hit him with the Clash of the Titus.

We see highlights from Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton last night and then Lesnar hitting Shane with an F5. Tom Phillips then interviews Stephanie McMahon who says that repercussions will be coming for Lesnar as a result of his actions.

4# Big Cass (w/ Enzo Amore) bt. Rusev (w/ Lana) in a WWE Universal Championship series match

Tom Phillips is with Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho backstage, he asks what will happen if Jericho defeats Roman Reigns tonight and they have to take part in the fatal 4-way. Both Jericho and Owens argue about who will win the fatal 4-way next week.

Charlotte and Dana Brooke come to the ring, Charlotte spoke how she is the money of the women's division as she is now a 2-time WWE Women's Champion. She spoke also about exposing Sasha as being all flash and no cash. She mentioned Sasha's back injury and said that she is never coming after her title again. Charlotte says the queen has taken back her throne and was about to leave until she was interrupted by Mick Foley. Foley congratulated Charlotte and informed her that Sasha will be granted a rematch for the WWE Women's Championship. Charlotte asks for the night off as there is no one else worthy in the back. Foley then informs Charlotte that they have just signed the hottest free agent as Bayley makes her way out. Bayley spoke how this is the moment she has been waiting for her entire life and hugs it out with the hardcore legend. Charlotte said that there was a reason that Bayley got left behind during the women's revolution, Bayley told her that she would never disrespect her, but she will challenge her for the title. Charlotte told her to get in line, however she does suggest that Dana Brooke takes on Bayley which is agreed upon by Foley.

Tom Phillips is with Roman Reigns and spoke of the comments made earlier by Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens, Reigns says that he plans to shut the mouth of Jericho tonight.

Rich Swann, Noam Dar, Brian Kendrick and TJ Perkins are profiled as the Cruiserweights arrive on Raw beginning on September 19th.

6# Braun Strowman bt. Johnny Knockout
(Before the match, Byron Saxon interviewed Johnny Knockout who said that he took the match because he liked big sweaty men. Post-match, Braun Strowman sent Johnny Knockout down to the mat face first and forces the referee to count a second pinfall.)

The Dudley Boyz make their way to the ring, Bubba spoke about their return one year ago and says that it has been one hell of a year. D-Von spoke of their career and how they created legendary matches like the TLC match. They spoke how normally you don't get to go out on your own terms but this is very much their own terms. The Shining Stars interrupt and call them washed up, they said they have brought them a present of a pair of economy airline tickets to beautiful Puerto Rico. Bubba and D-Von level the Shining stars immediately before grabbing a table. Gallows and Anderson then make their way to the ring and attack both Bubba Ray and D-Von. Anderson launches D-Von in to the steel steps with Bubba being on the receiving end of the Magic Killer. D-Von tries to fight back but to no avail, Gallows and Anderson hit D-Von with the magic killer through a table.

7# Roman Reigns bt. Chris Jericho in a WWE Universal Championship series match
(Kevin Owens makes his way down in attempt to distract Reigns. Owens connects with a couple cheap shots on Reigns before Reigns hit a superman punch. Moments later, Reigns hit a spear and got the 3.)

Next week on Raw, it will be Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens vs. Big Cass vs. Roman Reigns in a Fatal 4-Way to crown a new WWE Universal Champion.

The show opens with Dolph Ziggler in the locker room with his head down as Baron Corbin, Erick Rowan, Apollo Crews and Rhyno stand talking around him. AJ Styles walks in and says he is the new face that runs the place. Styles pulled out the "never give up" band that Cena left in the ring at Summerslam and put it on his head before saying that this will help them not forget the face that runs this place. Styles makes a comment about Ziggler moping, Styles says he doesn't like losers before Ziggler punches away at him before being held back by Crews and Rhyno. Ziggler warns Styles to stay away from him as Styles makes a feline for it.

Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan make their way to the ring as the tag team and women's division of Smackdown are already in the ring. Shane welcomes everyone to an historic night of Smackdown Live and spoke of giving everyone on Smackdown an opportunity. They speak about the women's division Shane announces at Backlash, there will be a first-ever six-pack challenge to determine the first ever Smackdown Women's Champion.

Shane also mentions that at Backlash, they will be crowning the Smackdown tag team champions. He and Bryan announce a tag team tournament which will culminate at Backlash and that starts tonight. Heath Slater interrupts and says that he has come so close in the last two weeks to getting a Smackdown Live contract. He said he wants to let bygones be bygones after Bryan and Shane have taken it away from him. He wants them to help him to make him a Michael Phelps by giving him a little gold. Bryan jokes about him not being equipped to win the women's title and Shane says he is not equipped to win the tag team titles either as he is not a member of the roster or has a tag team partner. Slater told them that he will find a partner and win the tournament, Bryan told him that if he found a partner by the end of the night, he will find a tag team for him to compete against and make it an 8-team tournament. Shane told him that since he is guaranteeing victory, it will be the only way he will be a member of the roster if he wins. Slater left to find a partner.

AJ Styles then made his way to the ring angrily before he was attacked from behind by Dolph Ziggler, it took the tag teams in the ring to separate both men.

(Natalya and Naomi were on commentary for the match.)

Heath Slater is backstage looking for a partner, he pumps in to the Miz who said he is a big fan and when asked to be his partner, he spoke about it being what he needed to launch his brand in to the stratosphere. Miz pulled down his hood to reveal his bluetooth headset and turned out he was talking to Steven Spielberg about being the next Indiana Jones.

2# The Usos bt. The Ascension in a 1st Round match in the Smackdown Tag Team Championship Tournament

AJ Styles makes his way to the ring and spoke how he has seen a lot of jealous faces because of what he did at Summerslam. He spoke how Cena fans can be AJ Styles fans now before saying he should be the #1 contender for the WWE World Championship. Dolph Ziggler is coming out, but he is being held back by some agents and referees. Bryan comes out to separate both men from ruining the show, he agreed that Styles should be the #1 contender and even though Ziggler lost at Summerslam, he became close. He said that it seems that they both want to fight and makes AJ Styles vs. Dolph Ziggler tonight and if Ziggler wins, he'll get added to the WWE World Championship match at Backlash so it will become a triple threat.

Carmella is set to go up against Nikki Bella, Renee Young is in the ring and speaks to Nikki about how it feels to fight back from a devastating neck injury. Carmella all of a sudden attacks her from behind and despite the referees attempt to stop her, she superkicks her down. Moments later, Carmella continues the attack by hitting the reverse STO before hitting the Bella buster.

Randy Orton makes his way to the ring and spoke of being in a fight with Brock Lesnar this past Sunday, he said he would of rather been rolled out on a gurney than have the match end the way it did. Orton mentioned that one day his and Lesnar's paths will cross again.

Bray Wyatt came to ringside and sat in his rocking chair, Wyatt told Orton that him being busted open reminded him that he is just a man who hurts, suffers and dies. Wyatt referred to himself as a god and gods can never die. Wyatt finished by saying that Orton will find out all about it in time. Wyatt drops the microphone, Orton signals for him to come in the ring but the lights go out, and when they came back on, Wyatt has disappeared.

Shane McMahon is being interviewed backstage about what happened with Brock Lesnar at Summerslam, Shane said that Stephanie was not taking it seriously when she fined Lesnar just $500. Shane said the thing between himself and Lesnar is far from over.

Heath Slater is backstage and is speaking with Arn Anderson to become his tag team partner, however when Anderson found out he wasn't Slater's first choice, he said it was a huge mistake and walked off. Rhyno then approached Slater and said that he bets a tag team champion can make payments on an above ground pool before confirming he will be Slater's partner.

Dean Ambrose is approached backstage to find out his thoughts on who he will be facing at Backlash, Ambrose seems unfazed as he has been gambling.

4# AJ Styles bt. Dolph Ziggler
(Dean Ambrose was on commentary for the match. Post-match, Styles walks up to Ambrose and stares at him before removing Ambroses headset. Both men go to face-to-face before Ambrose retrieves the title. If Ziggler had won the match, he would have been added to the WWE World Championship match at Backlash.)

We go back to NXT Takeover - Brooklyn II throughout the show and see highlights for all matches and post-match interviews. The first was highlights from Roode vs. Cien who spoke of winning not being a surprise and he is the superstar which will take NXT to the next level.

The next highlights was from the Aries/Jose match where Hideo Itami showed up after the match to put Aries to sleep. In a WWE.COM exclusive, Aries was pissed off about Itami's interruption and vents about all of his moments being interrupted by people who try and make an expense at his name. He warns that he sent Corbin and Jose packing, and if Itami thought his last injury layoff was long, wait until he gets him in the ring.

Next we look at the NXT Women's Championship match, in a post-match interview with Bayley. She said she is disappointed in it not ending the way it should have. Ember Moon showed up and gave praise to Bayley and told her that she is here in NXT because of her. Bayley told her she has a bright future and maybe one day they will have a Takeover match. We then see clips of Bayley being signed to Raw's women's division.

Next highlights were of the Revival defeating Gargano and Ciampa for the NXT Tag Team Championships. WWE.COM caught up with the Revival who spoke about being the best tag team in the universe and said they will beat any tag team.

Finally we saw highlights of Samoa Joe vs. Shinsuke Nakamura, we will hear from Nakamura next week on NXT. We have an update on Joe who had his jaw shattered by Nakamura, it had been dislocated and relocated and he hopes to be cleared very soon.

Monday night Raw opens with Corey Graves in the ring with the competitors in tonight's fatal 4-way (Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Big Cass and Kevin Owens) for the WWE Universal Championship in the ring. Rollins credits himself for reason all four men are sitting here tonight after what he did to Finn Balor at Summerslam. Rollins gives his air time to Kevin Owens who mocks Corey Graves' WWE Network show before speaking how he is a prizefighter and is at his best when the stakes are high. Big Cass was next on the mic and spoke how no one expects him to win so he has nothing to lose.

Rollins takes back the microphone and spoke how the match is under elimination rules and sending Cass and Owens packing, he said it will then be down to him and Roman Reigns and he beats Reigns everytime. Rollins wants to hear from Reigns, however Reigns hit Owens with an uppercut, Rollins goes after Cass but Reigns cuts him off. Reigns and Cass have a staredown before Rollins kicks Reigns in to Cass before a shot from Reigns to Rollins. Reigns tosses Cass out of the ring and then hit Rollins with a superman punch.

Tom Phillips is backstage with Chris Jericho ahead of his match with Neville next after he interfered in the match last week. He spoke how Neville is mighty mouse and here he comes to get a codebreaker tonight.

New Day mentioned how Bayley beat her last week, Brooke said she wasn't ready to compete last week but she has been talking to Gallows and Anderson recently. New Day suggested she go back to them as Brooke called them unicorn freaks, Bayley tells Dana it has already been brought.

Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson come on-screen and spoke how they are now part of a retirement plan that stands for OLD FART (Octogenarian Leisure Destination For Aging Rehabilitation Treatment). They talk about retiring the Dudley Boyz last week on Raw. Nurse Dana Brooke has joined them and asks where they would like to begin.

Stephanie McMahon makes her way to the ring and welcomes everyone to this historic edition of Monday Night Raw where we will crown a new WWE Universal Champion. However firstly, Stephanie wants to talk about Brock Lesnar attacking Shane McMahon at Summerslam and giving him an F5, she told everyone that no one messes with her family.

Paul Heyman interrupts Stephanie as he comes down the ramp, Stephanie wants Heyman to get inside the ring and apologise. Heyman spoke about Lesnar defeating Orton at Summerslam, he does admit however that his client crossed the line when he attacked Shane. Heyman told Stephanie that he is here to pay the $500 fine before pulling out a stack of $1 bills and throwing them down individually. Stephanie slaps the money out of Heyman's hands and questions what his worth is to Raw. Stephanie is bemused at Heyman and questions whether this is a joke before warning him that a storm is coming his ugly way. Heyman corrected the commissioner of Raw and claims that it is Lesnar who is the storm. Heyman spoke of the compromising position Lesnar put her in at Summerslam and begs her that she accept that money as a fine paid, a lesson learned and an apology delivered. Stephanie accepted the apology and left the ring as Heyman begins smiling.

7# Darren Young (w/ Bob Backlund) bt. Titus O'Neil
(Post-match, Darren Young tosses Titus out of the ring and celebrated the win. This was short lived as Titus returned to the ring and attacked Young before kicking Backlund, Titus hit Young with a clash of the titus before leaving the ring.)

Mick Foley is with Stephanie McMahon backstage and tells her that he should of been out there with her tonight when she confronted Paul Heyman. Foley suggested that they ban everyone from ringside tonight which is agreed upon by Stephanie. Seth Rollins walks up and says that tonight will be the best main event Raw ever had, he promises to bring the title back before Stephanie told him that tonight is Seth's night.

8# Kevin Owens bt. Big Cass, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins in a Fatal 4-Way elimination match to become the New WWE Universal Champion

ORDER OF ELIMINATION
1. Big Cass by Kevin Owens

Triple H made his first appearance since Wrestlemania and hit the pedigree on Roman Reigns outside of the ring before throwing him in, he throws Rollins in the ring who made the cover and eliminated Reigns.

2. Roman Reigns by Seth Rollins

It is down to Rollins and Owens, Triple H threw Owens back in the ring. He then surprised everyone when he hit Rollins with a pedigree as Owens got the pin on Rollins.

3. Seth Rollins by Kevin Owens

(Post-match, Triple H grabbed the title from Foley, who was at ringside for the match with Stephanie, and handed it to Owens and raised the arms of the new WWE Universal Champion as the WWE Universe chanted "You Deserve it".)

The show opens with footage from last Tuesday's episode of Talking Smack which featured a heated verbal confrontation between Daniel Bryan and The Miz. The Miz went off on Bryan after being told that his style of wrestling is cowardly. Bryan walked off the set as Miz continued to criticise him. We go to Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan backstage, Shane tells Bryan he owes Miz an apology as he cannot provoke talent like that, Shane agreed with his opinion but asks him not to get in his face. Bryan tells Shane he finds the advice a little ironic coming from the guy who has beef with Brock Lesnar.

In to the arena, Smackdown Live opens with Miz storming to the ring with his wife Maryse. A heated Intercontinental Champion spoke how he has been pushed aside week after week by the commissioner an General Manager, and it has also taken 148 days to get their attention for a once prestigious title which has been tarnished by quitters and serial failures. Miz spoke about being told how he has a soft style and doesn't like to get hit in the face, but he says this is because he is a great champion, he is smarter and more talented than the losers that do because he finds a way to not get hit. He said that the GM won't apologise and the commissioner agrees with him, he continues to speak how he is there whenever the company needs him, and he does it without getting injured. Miz continues to mention how he is deemed unworthy because he didn't spend his first 12 years as a wrestler wrestling in front of 50 people. He says once again he is not a failure and it is the people who are all cowards.

Dolph Ziggler made his way to the ring and tells him that the reason people don't behind Miz is because they see right through him as Miz just wants to be famous. Ziggler insinuated that every week Miz has a chane to change the perception of that, to prove he is not a coward and that he belongs, but he doesn't. Ziggler gives Miz a chance to prove to everyone he is not a coward right now. Miz looks set to get in the ring but feins getting in and storms off. Ziggler reiterated once again what Bryan said by calling him a soft, safe coward.

1# The Hype Bros bt. The Vaudevillains in a 1st Round match in the Smackdown Tag Team Championship tournament
(Post-match, The Hype Bros are interviewed about how they are only 2 victories away from becoming the first ever Smackdown Tag Team Champions. Ryder said that the Hype train has left the building and isn't looking back, Rawley said that they are taking the tag team titles as they don't get hyped - they stay hyped.)

AJ Styles is walking around backstage telling stage hands that he is the face that runs the place, Styles runs in to Apollo Crews and says that his name isn't important enough to remember.

After the commercial, AJ Styles makes his way to the ring and spoke of beating John Cena at Summerslam before turning his attention to Dean Ambrose by claiming he is the face that runs the place and the face that will beat Dean Ambrose. He said that Ambrose will see his face in his nightmares when he's lying on his back looking at him being crowned the new WWE World Champion. Apollo Crews makes his way out and told him that he went to Daniel Bryan and got permission to challenge him to a match right now.

2# AJ Styles bt. Apollo Crews

We see footage from this past weekend when Renee Young went to Heath Slater's trailer in West Virginia. Rhyno is there also looking focussed. Slater introduces Renee to his wife Beulah, she is rather portly and uses uncultured language. She gives them crackers and cheese Whiz, Renee then asks Slater about not being chosen in the WWE draft. Slater claimed that it was an oversight and not an afterthought. Renee then asks about the night he confronted Lesnar, that was after Beulah told Slater that she has pizza crust for dinner. Slater said he is lucky to be alive, they spoke about him defeating Orton two weeks ago also but got confused when Bryan and Shane the contract as he thought it was Foley and Stephanie.

Renee asked about teaming with Rhyno to become the first Smackdown tag team champions, he said he is lucky to have Rhyno as it is not for him anymore, it is for his family. Renee asked Rhyno why he agreed to team with Slater but all she got was a shrug from the former ECW Champion. Slater said that Rhyno is helping him provide for his family and when they win the tag team championships, he is going to upgrade his trailer to a double wide. Beulah said she wished she could introduce her to their kids, Renee questioned whether they were in school but turns out they were outside picking up bottles. A car then zooms by the house and Slater angrily leaves with his wife. Renee was left with Rhyno who creepily smiled at Renee.

Bray Wyatt made his way to the ring and sat in his rocking chair. He said he doesn't fear snakes or monsters, he also said he fears no man because he is fear. He spoke of the legend of Randy Orton and thinks of him as just a man, and not a mythological serpent. Wyatt spoke of what Lesnar did to Orton at Summerslam, he said that Lesnar exposed all of Orton's flaws as he claimed Orton went in to the fight as a man who had no fear and thought he was untouchable, but he came out of the fight as a man that was damaged. Wyatt says that is his game, he eradicated the infected. He says that he hopes the voices in Orton's head are telling him to run before warning him to run.

Randy Orton made his way to ringside, he says that the voices in his head are asking who Wyatt thinks he is, Wyatt responded by saying he is damaged because he has had a handful of staples in his skill. Orton claims he has been damaged for a long time before saying Wyatt has his attention. Wyatt claimed this is the Randy Orton he had wanted to see, however, Orton is no longer the predator in this situation, he is the damaged and the weak and Wyatt is now the predator. He says at Backlash, he will cut off the serpents head and hang it on his mantle.

Orton spoke of the scars he has received throughout the years from Cactus Jack dropping him on a pile or thumbtacks or even the scars from his Hell in a Cell match with The Undertaker. He warns Wyatt that he should be more worried about his internal scars. Orton accepts Wyatt's challenge for Backlash, Orton says he is not afraid of Wyatt before getting in the ring to "kick his ass" but the lights go out after Wyatt's video flashes on the screen.

Gary "The Milkman" Millman is in the ring and claims that he has been granted a license to fight tonight but no one wants to get in the ring with him. He claims he is not leaving before a competitor comes to the ring. Kane makes his way down and hits him with the chokeslam before leaving the ring.

5# Baron Corbin bt. Dean Ambrose Via DQ in a non-title match
(AJ Styles was on commentary for the match. During the match, Corbin went to throw Ambrose in to Styles but Ambrose ducked and it was Styles who accidentally hit Corbin with a knee to the face to cause the DQ. Post-match, Ambrose takes down Styles before Styles fights back. Corbin attacks Ambrose from behind but received a dirty deeds from Ambrose for his efforts. Styles goes for the phenomenal forearm but Ambrose crotches him on the ropes. As Styles screams in pain before Ambrose shook him on the rope.)

Tomasso Ciampa is backstage and is asked about Johnny Gargano after suffering recent leg injuries. Ciampa is quickly interrupted by the NXT Tag Team Champions. Ciampa attacks them and the fight spills out in to the commentary area where Wilder and Dawson throw Ciampa on to the announce table, punch him and roll him off it. Officials try to separate them but the Revival bring Ciampa in to the ring to continue their beatdown. They grab a microphone and said they'll make an example out of Ciampa, before hitting him with a shatter machine.

2# Steve Cutler bt. Kenneth Crawford

Hideo Itami is backstage and discusses Austin Aries, he claimed that he thought Aries was a real man but instead he is a big baby, Itami continues by saying that he might have to make Aries to go sleep again.

3# No Way Jose bt. Angelo Dawkins

Andrada 'cien' Almas is backstage and is asked how he'll rebound from his first lost in NXT, Aries interrupts with his frustrations about other people taking his spotlight. He mentioned how he beat No Way Jose at Takeover and yet everyone is talking about Itami's return. Cien speaks some Spanish to which Aries asked him to speak English, Cien does but Aries continues to pretend he can't hear after earlier mentioned his eardrum was ruptured after a GTS by Itami at Takeover.

4# Liv morgan bt. Aliyah Via Submission

No Way Jose is interviewed backstage and says he has the heart of the lion before Roode walked by and told Jose he has nice hair.

Shinsuke Nakamura makes his way to the ring and spoke how he has accomplished what he set out to do, he came to NXT and wanted to challenge himself so he faced Zayn, Balor and Samoa Joe. He says he is still aching from the match but he is still champion. Nakamura says he has held championships before but this one means the most to him and mentions how Samoa Joe's era is over, it's not the era of strong style.

Stephanie McMahon is shown backstage earlier in the day and is talking about planning a huge party for Kevin Owens' title win. Mick Foley approaches her and does not look happy, he told her that her husband made him look like a fool last Monday night, and she won't talk about it or return his calls. Stephanie said that she is not going to defend herself over something she knew nothing about, she said she was backing Rollins and had no clue her husband was going to do that. Foley says that he doesn't believe her. She asks who he thinks he is talking to, Foley responds by saying he is talking to the girl he met in 1998, moments after his Hell in a Cell match that gave him a shy smile. Stephanie said she did not return his calls because she was embarrassed as a leader and a wife, he went on to question how she can maintain her dignity, she told Mick she did not respond because she didn't know how. She begged him to believe that she is still the same girl with the shy smile. Foley looks her in the eyes and concedes that he does believe her on the purpose that if he doesn't, that makes her a really good liar and a really bad person and he can't believe that.

We go inside the arena and see balloons falling from the rafters as Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon are both in the ring before introducing the new WWE Universal Champion, Kevin Owens. Owens was pleased at the celebration and said he does deserve to be champion but what he doesn't need is a crowd full of idiots trying to hijack his moment, and by them chanting, "you deserve it", they are trying to make it about themselves. He spoke about beating 3 superstars last week but is man enough to admit that Triple H gave him a nudge, however he said he had already done 98% of the work himself and all Triple H did was to make things right and put him where he belongs, at the top of this industry. This is why tonight's episode will be known as "The Kevin Owens Show".

Seth Rollins stormed to the ring and gets in Owens' face, Rollins then questions Stephanie about all of this. Stephanie claimed once again she had nothing to do with it but Rollins did not believe her, Foley then backed her up. Rollins claimed that Owens has been Triple H's chosen one ever since he stepped in to NXT. Rollins warned them that if they want to hitch their wagon to Owens and make him the face of the new era then he will be the one who will burn it to the ground, and Triple H & Stephanie McMahon will be on their knees in a pile of rubble.

Owens questioned where Rollins' passion has been in the last few months. Rollins punches Owens and knocks him out of the ring. Stephanie told him to stop as he punches Owens off the apron. Stephanie follows up by saying Rollins is indefinitely suspended, but Foley turns round and said that he is not. Foley claims that Stephanie is acting that it is personal but it is not, Foley says on Raw they don't hand out suspensions when someone has been wrong and let their temper flare, they hand out rematches. He spoke about being the one who would make the matches when he agreed to be General Manager, he then gave Seth Rollins his rematch for the WWE Universal Championship at Clash of the Champions.

After the commercial, Stephanie and Foley are arguing backstage. She told him if he ever usurps her again, he won't have a position to come back to. Kevin Owens comes up to them and yells for reward Rollins' bad behaviour with a title match, Foley told him he is going to reward him with a match against his former best friend Sami Zayn. Owens if furious. Chris Jericho angrily walks up to him and questions who foley thinks he is by disrespecting the longest reigning WWE Universal Champion in history. Jericho calls Foley a "Stupid idiot" before Foley makes Jericho vs. Rollins tonight.

1# Bayley bt. Charlotte (w/ Dana Brooke) in a non-title match
(Dana pulled Charlotte out of the way when Bayley went for a second shoulder to the midsection of the Women's Champion. Bayley kicked Dana down and Charlotte attempted a roll-up but only got a 2. Charlotte is sent in to Dana and then Bayley hit Charlotte with a Bayley to Belly to get the 3.)

Byron Saxton, Michael Cole and Corey Graves talk about Connor's cure before showing a video of Connor "The Crusher".

The Cruiserweights will arrive on Raw in 2 weeks.

Charlotte is shouting at Dana Brooke backstage, Charlotte slaps the clipboard out of Dana's hand and said that the girl who shouldn't be on Raw just beat her. Dana says she'll make it up t her but Charlotte slaps her.

Bo Dallas makes his way to the ring with a sign that says, "Bo-lieve in Bo". Dallas tells his opponent that you reap what you sow, Dallas warns Kyle Roberts to Bo-lieve in Bo.

Sami Zayn is being interview by Tom Phillips, he spoke that despite beating Owens at Battleground and thinking it would solve all his problems, he says he is a little directionless whilst Owens is the Universal Champion. Owens approached him and said a few years it was him trying to catch with Zayn, but the title means he won the race. Zayn tells Owens that he wil be the Universal Champion one day and will do it on his own and not have it handed to him on a silver platter by Triple H.

6# Nia Jax bt. Ann Esposito

Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows made their way to the ring and spoke how they're retirement specialists. Now they have retired the Dudley Boyz, they're set on retiring New Day as Raw Tag Team Champions at Clash of Champions. They said that they're here to prove to New Day that they can have just as much fun in retirement as they do as the tag team champions. They want to show what the New Day is like under their care in the future before introducing, "The Old Day".

The Old Day make their way to the ring and is a big mockery of the Raw Tag Team Champions, this continued until the New Day made their way to the stage and after some frivolous comments, they make their way to the ring in attempt to beat up Gallows and Anderson but they made a quick exit from the ring. The New Day then faces off against the Old Day with them hitting the Midnight Hour on old Big E.

7# Darren Young (w/ Bob Backlund) bt. Jinder Mahal
(Titus O'Neil is on commentary for the match. During the match, Titus attempts to distract Young but Young manages to get the win. Post-match, Titus signals he is going after Backlund so Young attacks him until referees separate both men.)

Alicia Fox is backstage coming out of the trainer's room when Nia Jax asks her what is happening with her friend, Ann Esposito. Alicia asks what her problem is, Nia said that if you step up to her then there is real life consequences. Alicia fires up and starts going crazy by throwing things around, Nia pushes her down and walks off.

Sasha Banks makes her way to the ring and spoke of the revolution of women's wrestling and became what they deserved all along, to be called "superstars". She spoke how it is bigger than the WWE and says she does it for every little girl that has a dream of being something bigger. She spoke how the WWE is everything to her and what she went through to make it. Fighting back the tears, Sasha says she was pushed beyond her limit and she is out here as she met with the doctors earlier today for an update on her condition and she has some bad news.

Dana Brooke interrupts and makes her way out, she says Charlotte is the only champion the WWE Universe deserves. She then told Sasha she is going to use Sasha and her broken body to finish what Charlotte started at Summerslam. Dana gets in the ring but Sasha drops her with the Bank statement and made her tap out. Sasha said that the bad news was actually for Charlotte. She told Dana to tell her that at Clash of Champions, the title is coming back to her.

9# Kevin Owens bt. Sami Zayn in a non-title match
(Post-match, Roman Reigns makes his way out and get son the apron to confront Owens. Owens moves to the apron before Jericho angrily comes down and gets on the apron. Mick Foley comes to the stage and make Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns next week, if Reigns wins, then the WWE Universal Championship match at Clash of Champions will be a triple threat match. Jericho then attempts to blindside Reigns but ends up getting speared for his efforts.)

Smackdown Live opens with the General Manager, Daniel Bryan in the ring who reminds us that in 5 days at Backlash, we will see the first ever women's six pack elimination challenge to crown the first ever Smackdown Women's Champion. He announces that a six women's tag team match will take place later tonight, but first there will be a forum.

Bryan introduces Becky Lynch, Lynch said that to win this Sunday would make all the sacrifice worth it and feels everything she has fought for has brought her to this moment. Natalya is out next to interrupt her, Natalya is upset she is stuck on Smackdown with Becky and is tortured by her unnatural hair colour. Alexa Bliss appears and calls them both whiners, she then referred to Daniel Bryan as a Bella trophy husband. Carmella was next and spoke about what she did to Nikki Bella last week. Alexa and Carmella begin to argue, Naomi comes down to the ring as does Nikki Bella and a brawl erupts.

Daniel Bryan speaks with Shane McMahon backstage and speaks of tonight's six women's tag team match. The Miz walks up with Maryse and bemoans having to defend the Intercontinental title at Backlash against a "loser" like Dolph Ziggler. Miz also brought up the comments Bryan made about him a few weeks ago. Bryan told Miz that the girls actually fight, unlike him who walked away from Ziggler. Bryan told him he can hand over his title if he doesn't want the match at Backlash.

1# The Miz (w/ Maryse) bt. Apollo Crews in a non-title match
(Dolph Ziggler was on commentary for the match. Post-match, Ziggler grabbed the title and throws it on the mat and dared Miz to get inside the ring. However it was Maryse who got in the ring, grabbed the title and handed it to her husband whilst Ziggler was calling the Intercontinental Champion a 'coward'.)

Renee Young is backstage with AJ Styles and spoke of what happened last week when Ambrose crotched Styles on the top rope. Styles was furious that the footage was played.

Bray Wyatt is on a rocking chair backstage and spoke of how he is a predator and brings up survival of the fittest. Wyatt says Orton is no longer the great predator he once was and he represents the evolution of man. Wyatt said "I'm a God, Randy".

2# Carmella, Alexa Bliss & Natalya bt. Nikki Bella, Becky Lynch & Naomi Via Submission in a 6-woman tag team match
3# American Alpha bt. The Usos in a Semi-Final match in the Smackdown Tag Team Championship Tournament
(Post-match, The Usos attack Gable & Jordan. They launch Jordan in to the ring post with Jey Uso hitting a jumping kick to the lower ankle of Gable. Jimmy drops down from the top on to the leg/ankle of Gable.)

Randy Orton is backstage and reacts to comments by Bray Wyatt from earlier, he says he has a story for Wyatt and it is about a snake waiting patiently and striking at the right moment.

Fandango is inside the ring, he says Tyler Breeze is not available tonight and then brings an older woman with tattoos in the ring. They both start dancing and the woman leaves the ring. Kane then makes his way to the ring and hits a chokeslam on Fandango.

AJ Styles is walking backstage and asks some WWE staff if they are taking pictures of him. A man says he is looking at a picture of his own family, Styles smashes the phone against the wall and says he is the face that runs the place.

We see more facts about Curt Hawkins as he debuts on Smackdown Live next week.

4# Rhyno & Heath Slater bt. The Hype Bros in a Semi-Final match in the Smackdown Tag Team Championship Tournament

Renee Young is backstage and says that Shane McMahon will join Talking Smack later tonight with an update on American Alpha and the status of Chad Gable after the vicious attack from the Usos earlier. The Usos approach and said that the fans turned their backs on them in favour of American Alpha before saying they are done with that.

Charly Caruso is in the ring and was introducing Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles when Ambrose suggests she leaves as things could turn out bad tonight. The WWE World Champion hands Styles a gift, which is a bad and when Styles opens the bag, it is an old participation bowling trophy. Ambrose told Styles it was the only trophy he was ever going to get from him.

Ambrose plays the footage from last week where he crotched Styles on the top rope, this enraged Styles as Ambrose and the WWE Universe broke out once again in a Soccer Mom chant. Styles pointed out a trophy he collected at Summerslam when he defeated John Cena, he said he is going to take the WWE World Championship from Ambrose like he took the sweatband from Cena. Styles continued to beg Ambrose to take him as a joke because he beat Cena clean when Cena was taking him very seriously and says Ambrose is no John Cena.

Ambrose commented back in 3rd person by saying Ambrose drags guys to place they have never been before. Ambrose brought up haven beaten Styles before, that he will do it once again this Sunday at Backlash. Ambrose refers to Styles as the "face that comes in second place". Styles low blows Ambrose and breaks the trophy over his knee before yelling at Ambrose.

Phillips then asked Asuka about how she is still undefeated and many of the women she has beaten are on the main roster, Asuka says that they are safe now as they don't have to face her anymore. They speak about Asuka being proud to be from Japan and concludes with a message in Japanese for her fans, Asuka says no one is ready for her.

Backstage, Steve Cutler is interviewed about his match tonight with Shinsuke Nakamura. Culter says he has worked for 4 years of his life for this opportunity, he says he doesn't care what people think of him but the will be respected.

Backstage, No Way Jose is asked about Bobby Roode's disrespect of him last week. Jose compliments Roode's clothes and shoes but says it was unoriginal as he has heard it all before, Jose then tells Roode that he will find out that you don't mess with Jose.

Bryan spoke about keeping Team Blue's momentum going with two title defences - the WWE Intercontinental Championship and the WWE World Championship. He also brings up how we will crown the first ever Smackdown Tag Team Champions. Shane talks about crowning the first ever Smackdown Women's Champion in a first ever Six pack challenge which will kick off the show tonight.

Cameras quickly turn to Bray Wyatt viciously attacking Randy Orton backstage and slamming a door against his ankle.

2# The Usos bt. The Hype Bros Via Submission in a "Second Chance" match to advance to the Finals of the Smackdown Tag Team Championship tournament
(After what The Usos did to Chad Gable on Smackdown Live, American Alpha had to withdraw from the tournament.)

Backstage, Renee Young is with Heath Slater and Rhyno ahead of them facing the Usos tonight in the Finals of the Smackdown Tag Team Championship tournament. Slayer says they are focused before shaking Renee's hand and thanking her for the interview. Slater proceeded to tell Rhyno that he had stomach problems today and has gone around five times, Rhyno reminds Slater they are still live. Slater said he was just joking and let out a woo before he grabbed his backside and told Rhyno that he has to go right now.

Before Miz made his way to the ring, he was trying to renegotiate his contract with Daniel Bryan and wants to be paid like the A-Lister he is. Bryan stays quiet, Miz told him the negotiations are going to get even tougher after he has retained his title tonight.

(Maryse sprayed something in to the eyes of Ziggler whilst he was distracted which led to the Skull Crushing Finale from Miz and he gets the 3.)

(Before the match, it was announced that Randy Orton has not been cleared to wrestle tonight after the attack from Bray Wyatt earlier tonight. Bray Wyatt demanded the referee to administer the 10 count.)

As Wyatt was about to leave the ring, the announced reveals that Wyatt will not be taking part in a No Holds Barred match against....Kane.

AJ Styles is walking around backstage and comes across two independent wrestlers, he tells them he knows exactly where they are right now and assumed they are both sleeping in their cars and that they are both destined for failure.

WWE No Mercy on Sunday October 9th will be the next time Smackdown Live are on PPV.

6# Heath Slater & Rhyno bt. The Usos in the Final match in the Smackdown Tag Team Championship Tournament to become the New Smackdown Tag Team Champions
(Post-match, Charly Caruso gets a word with the first ever Smackdown Tag Team Champions. Slater spoke of not being drafted in July but thanks Shane and Daniel for giving him the shot in the tournament. Slater spoke of teaming with Rhyno and how he now has a contract, he spoke about his wife Beulah and in elation shouted "we're getting a double wide, baby".)

7# AJ Styles bt. Dean Ambrose to become the New WWE World Champion
(Styles hit the low blow to Ambrose when the referee got knocked down, he then hit the Styles Clash to get the win.)
