Would be nice but loads to do yet. Shame the final's at fucking Ashton Gate though, there'd be 35 or 40000 for a Wembley final involving any of the clubs still left.
I'd just be glad to get there if I were you. Wembley is overrated

Weirdly, it might make the final more intense. Obviously with the clubs involved there would be 40,000 or something there at Wembley in a normal year, but realistically at least 25,000 of those are really there for the day out.

At Ashton Gate in front of 4,000 each there’s no day out element to it, would purely be business in front of the hardcore.

When we came up the final was at Stoke City, didn't matter though, great day, great atmosphere, great party.

Didn’t they hold at least one of the Conference finals at the Etihad as well from memory?

We are one of the few clubs yet to play at the new Wembley so can’t really say as to what it’s like as an occasion. Personally I was a fan of keeping finals at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff. That was a cracking day out as well as the fact you can get a hell of an atmosphere going in that stadium.

I’ve been a few times with England, as a stadium it’s incredible in terms of facilities and size for example, I’ve been Stade de France, Olympiastadion and Bernebeau and Wembley is on another planet in terms of comfort etc but never overly found the atmosphere electric... that said England home games are more family things nowadays, with a decent club following it may be different.

The 2011 playoff final between Luton and Wimbledon was held at the Etihad due to Wembley being used for the Champions League final. The League 1 and 2 finals that year were held at Old Trafford.

Prior to the new Wembley opening playoffs in the Conference were held in Stoke from 2003 to 2005 and at Leicester in 2006.

A bloody expensive occasion is what it is. £5 for a pie served with a sulk.

Atmosphere depends on who is playing there, i suspect if your lot where playing there and you won nobody would complain about it but its doubtful that Salford would create much noise.

Never having taken too much notice of the NL, just how do Torquay get promoted? Sutton are champs and the PO Final is Notts County v Pools. Have I missed something?

Yes, yesterday was essentially the eliminator games for the playoff semis, Notts have Torquay, we have Stockport.

I think Wembley is fine when it’s full, it’s just not at all practical for clubs who only take about 20,000 like us. As with most finals (FA Cup aside), I’d like them to pick the venue when the participants are known but that never happens sadly. It would have made more sense for us v Gateshead to happen at somewhere like Hillsborough for example.

Yeah the things that made the Stoke final a better day than our later Wembley final, other than it being a more important win, are that the ground felt more full, and it was easier to continue the party afterwards. Winning the JPT at Wembley was great and all but that was then followed by a six hour drive back up North, whereas Stoke was followed by a short train trip and some heavy drinking.

Villa Park is an ideal venue for games like those mentioned.

Wembley is ok as a first time experience! but when you go there 5 times in 9 years it becomes a bit "Mehh" also the prices for food and drink inside the stadium are bordering on criminal.

I don’t think where venue is for final matters really when it’s a play off.

cup finals are those you go to ‘enjoy the day and experience’ losing isn’t the end of world and you can relax and enjoy.

while only at the one play off final my experience of that was nerves, pressure and a sheer focus on the game.....losing is your entire season being worthless.

although I don’t envy a Bristol trip at this time of year, the roads down there become shocking. Somewhere more central would have been better

Explain your working. It's motorway all the way and only 90 minutes from Birmingham. Its hardly Siberia.

I vote we eject Cumbrian and Devon teams from the EFL for being so bloody far away. It’d make life so much easier for the rest of us. ;-)

Agreed. With that in mind, I’m glad that, as a geographical outlier, Southend have done the decent thing and ejected themselves.

Yeah, why not. And anyone else too, maybe the welsh clubs and the north east ones then it’d be so much less faff for all of us.

The way this one is going, I am just waiting for someone to suggest merging Division Two and the Conference National and having two regional divisions, directly fed from the Conference North and South!

most Barrow fans (over a certain age) still identify as Lancashire not Cumbria and would happily be Lancashire again
