Dennis is an absolute knob when things aren’t going for him, did it for Chesterfield against us last season, sulking because we were turning them over so in injury time he barged Ben Davies in the back with his knee, so Zak Mills retaliates and pushes him and Mills gets sent off but that petulant twat Dennis only got a yellow, but the incident was completely down to him.
Bell end.

Smith's a danger to himself when he lets things get the better of him. Has openly admitted having mental health issues, so needs to do better at times. Though there was even less need for Dennis to go scything through O'Hara well after he'd collected the ball, nor Davies rifling it straight at Marsh when he was on the floor.

We played Notts off the park in the first half and should have had a wider lead. The disallowed goal we had was a straight get set of events. Ultimately neither the ref or liner knew if Stephens was offside but they both put their best guesses together and came up with the right decision - just about 2 minutes after the red had given it!

Notts were always going to come out stronger in the second half but it was a huge bit of fortune that gave them an equaliser, and having heard Neil Ardley on Radio Notts after, yes you were watching a different game, because you looked far from being the team that would go on and win it.

I was surprised we managed to get a second, but that's a huge win today, but means nothing if we now pick up nowt against Carlisle and Tranmere. We're in touching distance again, and others are being dragged down so a bit of renewed confidence after today. Though a multitude of injuries and now suspensions on top (just as we sold our other CF!!) is going to test the squad over

I’m assuming for the offside goal, the linesman must have missed the flick on or thought it was a Notts player who touched it, as he was an absolute acre offside. Presumably that’s why the ref went over to him.

I also thought we looked like we were going to go on and win it at 1-1 for what it’s worth - we missed two one on ones after we’d equalised and were well in the ascendency. Macc obviously much the better team before that though.

Wouldn't go as far as "well in the ascendancy", but you had a ten minute spell of some kind of pressure. It surprised me that your game plan was mainly route one to Stead, who Cameron bossed all game. Only thing he did was the snidy dig into Smiths back after he'd shoved Dennis into the net which saw him flick his elbow out at him.

On a separate note, the stewards in the away end were brilliant, fair play to them. Let us stand, had a chat, managed the crowd with courtesy and conversation. Well done.

1st half Macclesfield deserved to be comfortably 2 up ! No doubt about it ! But in the 2nd half during that some kind of pressure we had a couple of golden chances through Thomas and a couple of half chances . Was certain we scored on one of those from my angle I couldn’t believe it hadn’t gone in ! Without doubt we looked more like scoring after our goal .

Thought Stead was one of only three Notts players that played half decent didn’t think he was dominated at all as he held the ball up well for large parts and brought free kicks he always does . Didn’t play great but didn’t get dominated in my eyes .

None of this matters as we have all said the better side deservedly won as your manager got his tactics spot on and exploited acres of space between the lines

Well I won £240 on my both to get a player sent off and BTTS that's all I'm bothered about now. Notts can do one. Not interested anymore. LEPie signing off - off to watch a team that cares Long Eaton! I will probably watch what happens on this forum but I can't be arsed to use my fingers anymore for this team.

I don’t blame you LEP. I felt a tad guilty moving to the ‘Big City’ (no not Manchester) and missing my first season since 99/00 but after yesterday’s first match and hearing what I’ve been hearing from the old man and on here I just feel sorry for everyone who is attending. I now feel like the lucky one.

I can’t believe patter queuing for almost half and hour for my matchday ticket which meant I missed the first 5 mins, the queue behind me at 3pm was even longer than when I arrived stretching unbelievably to County Road. I hope some of those poor buggars gave up waiting and missed the game as they wouldn’t of got in till nearly half past. A hell of an effort from the fans as usual on Boxing Day. The team / The players simply don’t deserve anywhere near that level of support.

The game was entertaining , 3 goals, 2 disallowed goals, 2 sending offs, glorious missed chances but it was an awful standard defensively from both sides.

Has there ever been a bigger (unexpected) decline in L2 from one season to the next than this? Surely not!!?!?

I think you’d have to go some to find a season where the bookies favourites were bottom at Christmas. And all it really needed was a handful of brutes... (and for last seasons star players not to have a collective breakdown).

Ah well - we have one last chance at Redemption in the January window, Hardy’s comments last night suggest he will back Ardley but he must now think it is chucking good money after bad. And it will surely get worse before it gets better with Bury, Oldham and Colchester up next.

And yes, crackers the fans are still turning up in numbers (2nd highest gate yesterday), although I think it will be a low one for Bury on Sat.

And to think my first ever Boxing Day game in 1991 was Notts 2-0 Chelsea... :surr:

That must of been a cup game no way any Notts fan on here has seen us play a club like Chelsea in the league :shifty:

Season ticket holders I get, it was my first game due to being back in Nottingham for festive period but why anybody else would subject themselves to it when all Notts fans know what they will get I have no idea. Where are the other traditional Boxing Day bumper crowds? IFollow?

I totally agree Hardy has no other choice, and should rightly back the 3rd manager he’s appointed.

Any club who sacks 2 managers before Xmas will be in such disarray how could they be settled and consistent. No wonder the players look lost.

That set of players got the managers sacked, they've been coached well enough by good enough people to be better than that, they just don't have it in them collectively.
I've spent hours working out our best eleven and we don't have one. Players who should walk into the team have lost form entirely others haven't got going.
We could chop fourteen of the squad and not miss them.

Nailed it Optipez, most of the anger and blame goes towards chairman and more so the manager but not enough is aimed at the players

What is happening to Notts?!

Egg Head proving he doesn't have a clue after all wow.

To think of the money you forked out in the summer and the wages you're paying

I'm not really angry at anyone Viking, more bewildered. The chairman has spent a fortune, he's not an expert he just trusted others with his money.
Nolan worked wonders with a limited squad until March, he was entitled to be trusted with the budget.
Kewell was unlucky in that the chairman still expected a promotion push from that lot, arguably he shouldn't have been sacked but backed and given until the window.
Ardley's the lucky one. Finish third bottom and he'll be thanked and given a chance to reshape the squad when quite a few contracts are up.

I think we're beyond blame now , what's done is done we've got to work like dogs to salvage our league status.

No idea why the players lost their heads like that at the end - it had actually been a pretty clean game before that. I must say I thought the referee did a great job. Not an easy game for him but got all the big decisions spot on. My only criticism goes to the linesman that missed the obvious offside in the build up to our goal which was eventually disallowed.

Surely Dennis should get a red for that, he's so late and so far from the ball that the only aim of that challenge is to hurt O'hara.

I agree but the laws don't allow it to be changed as the ref deemed it to be a yellow caed offence.
If he had done nothing it probably would have after being reviewed. To me the ref should be allowed to change his mind after games in circumstances like this , changing decisions from yellow to red or vice versa., as the expectation to give an instant decision has proved to be wrong on many occassions and this would give an opportunity to rectfy this.

Definitely a yellow only seen similar many times before . Highlights don’t tell the whole story, was a clean game until 20 to go and then it started to get nasty especially from Notts ! Macc had a few play actors for sure especially the lad who did the worst delayed flop after a little shove near the end , embarrassing attempt to get someone into trouble . Davies was clearly frustrated and an idiot and the Smith one was pure stupidity and needless !

In a game like that blatant time wasting was always going to be employed by the side ahead . That was the only disappointment didn’t stamp down on it at all whether it was the keeper or the full back who were repeat offenders . We would of done exactly the same if leading

Yeah the Dennis challenge is definitely only a yellow. Regarding trying to get players into trouble, surely you can forgive a player for making the most of having the ball blasted at them from close range!!

If I remember right the joke flop had nothing to do with the disgraceful ball being blasted at the guy on the floor .

Don’t see it in Dennis at all. Was crap for chesterfield against us and did absolutely nothing when he came on a few weeks ago. In the summer we could have opted to keep Hemmings and thought about going for Dennis, thankfully we went for walker and well let’s say we dodged a bullet.

He doesn’t strike me as the type to dig deep in a relegation battle at all

Maybe he’s a one season wonder as he scored lots last season in a struggling team . That’s usually a good guide , maybe not in this case but you can’t ignore it

I recall him starting the season well, not so the 2nd half. Folk who put their foot in and care for the cause are worth their weight in gold when you’re struggling, hemmings would be the type to do that, not dennis

Dennis gave up at Macc in march when he'd got his chesterfield contract sorted.

It was us who plucked him from rattling in the conference north.

That's the type of guy he is.
