If we do get a big name it shows what ####s the board have been to Cotterill.

The next couple of weeks will show exactly what has happened IMHO. Just say, they bring in a Moyes or a Pearson and suddenly new players start arriving, it will show that the board just didn't back him. While I think that's probably the case, there was definitely some friction between Cotts and SL / the board.
It was sadly inevitable.

Some club in L1 or L2 is going to get a brilliant lower league Manager, that I DO know.
The Q and A after Saturdays' game will be interesting regardless.

It WAS SL, now supposed to be Dave Lloyd, Atyeo stand, straight after Saturdays game. I can't see DL doing it now, it HAs to be a board member or they're feeding the poor bloke to the Wolves!

Serious thoughts on a possible replacement, of the names I've seen Justin Edinburgh would be my preferred option. Or if we're looking for more Championship experience, Gus Poyet maybe?

Regardless of how much people like the bloke Mackay would keep us up imo. Club will more than likely approach the likes of Pearson and Monk, but Clarke would be another up for consideration, we need someone with Championship experience imo.

Mackay all but took Wigan down without a whimper by the time of his sacking. Their squad was better than ours is now.

Let's face it, there's no way we were surviving under Cotts. 4 wins in 26 games, that's worse than Millen, McInnes and Johnson when we let them go. Fresh ideas and more championship experience could save us.

I'm praying they've already got a replacement lined up. If it takes a couple of weeks to appoint somebody then I'll be fuming!

The more I think about it, I reckon Steve Clarke would be an excellent appointment.
Available, experienced, great contacts. Bear in mind he was only removed at Reading, after doing a fine job, because Fulham wanted him and he wanted to talk to them before turning them down only to be sacked for it.
Any problems with Clarke as the potential new gaffer?

He's not one to set the pulse racing but yeah I'd be reasonably happy with that

A lot of hate for us there? Any reason why?
No hate, I dislike Cotterill, he's just a moaning fanny.

You appointing Warnock would give me a reason to want City relegated and would be hypocrisy given the City fans comments post Sears 'no goal' and the POs v Palace.

Go out and get Warnock and fast or the board can go and fuck themselves.

What a fucking ridiculous decision, and a ridiculous timing. Absolute disaster of a season.
Warnock is a wanker tho.
Nobody gave a shit about Charlton's manager was sacked.

On the same day Bristol City sack their manager there is an average of 3 posts a minute about it...
That's because, there's more city fans on this forums, you dumbo. :p

Good news, he's easily one of the most dislikeable people in the game.
Debatable. Did us wonders last season though.

Clarke seems to be a bit like Cotts, doesn't like changing tactics and did some weird stuff at Reading in the weeks before he got sacked.

TBH with Cotts I think the last straw was the fan argument. I don't really know if Cotts would've kept us up tbh, but if SL didn't think he should've sacked him by December to be honest, because if we don't have a replacement manager in place then our transfers will be complete shit.

So I guess we go on and figure out who's next?

Clarke was averaging barely over a point a game for us, would hardly call it a fine job. He was starting to get a bit of pressure before he talked to Fulham. That just sealed it for him, as the owners were prepared to wait it out and see if he could turn it around.

Warnock is probably your best option. Out of the names on the list he's the only one I think who is realistic and proven enough at this level.

Warnock is someone that our fans love to hate. 50% would probably be against him coming here, but I'm convinced if he was on our side our fans would quickly warm to him. Personally loved giving him stick but at the same time have always found him likeable.

Top guy Apple but he's done fuck all in management.

Oxford have a good budget in L2 so you wouldn't even say he's done a particularly great job there.

Would love Moyes, Monk or Pearson but realistically I think Warnock is the best option for us. I'll be livid if they go Appleton or Pendock.

Much as I hate to admit it, I reckon he's doing a brilliant job there. Massively underachieved since getting back in the league, now playing some good stuff with a sprinkling of decent players.

Oh, and I've got them at 9/1 to win L2!

I'll be fully behind whoever we appoint. But if it's Appleton I wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry.

They're going for Pearson...

Don't think that's entirely realistic.

Didn't the majority of you lot moan like fuck before Cotterill was appointed?

Fans are notoriously poor manager assessors.

A good shout. Might take some convincing, doesn't seem the type to abandon a club in the middle of a promotion push, but I'd be very happy with that.

Hell, I'd love it. Best mates a Cov fan I'd be able to rip into him for that for years! :bg1:
