Looks like a straight fight between Wycombe, Carlisle, Orient, Wimbledon and Exeter for 7th.

Big win for Carlisle tonight, two consecutive home wins against the form sides!

So tough calling it, especially if someone keeps in touch with Wycombe over the next three.

Whoever gets it, will lose to whoever finishes 4th. None of those sides are good or consistent enough to stand a chance of winning the playoffs for me.

As I previously said, I'd rather finish 8th and not have to spend the £200 on it and having the stress of watching us ultimately lose in the playoffs for the 4th time in a row and give Nolan a crack at building his own side in the summer, when we will only have 11 contracted players left.

Never discount the lack of pressure and momentum on just squeezing into the playoffs. Bare in mind whoever comes in fourth will probably have found out last game of the season too, which is a disappointment that is hard to get over.

Unbelievable that we're a point off play-offs. I can't imagine how bad the bottom teams must be week-in week-out for us to be doing so well. My only optimism now is based on the fact that if Pedro comes into this team and hits the ground running we'll have a good attack to go along with our solid defence, and I could see us doing well in the play-offs if this happens. I still have that feeling that Pedro could be amazing once he gets into the team properly.

Does anyone actually want to finish 7th?

I just get the impression that all the clubs in with a chance are feeling negative and hopeless, do we expect a poor showing and fear a play off hangover to follow from it next season?

Or do we just not want to see us get beat over 2 legs off little Accrington?

If every Rovers fan chipped in £1 they'd have more money than their current owners do anyway, so this is a moot point.

Well we narrowly choked in the PO final, and I wouldn't say we suffered a playoff hangover at all, we've simply had a worse squad this season because most of our loan players haven't been as good as the ones last time round.

So would I, but watching that negative anti football that Wycombe, Crawley and Stevenage play week in week out would be depressing. It's pretty much how John Ward had us playing and look where we ended up under him! It works well when you have the right players but still terrible to watch. The wrong players and your probably doomed, Little room for error those 1-0 wins become 1-0 defeats very quickly.
We know all about having a team under John Ward with the right players but terrible to watch. Almost got into the Championship.

Answers on a postcard please? Nobody really knows, as the Al Qadi family as a whole own the club, together they our worth over a billion and more. Wael is the president and we seem to very much be his project. He says all the right things and does make me feel positive but with so much sh#t over the years with Rovers some of us are naturally cautious. The debts have been paid off, people employed to build the stadium who previously worked on Wembley, Bundeslega performance analyst to help with scouting and the team etc. We our on a long journey pretty sure it's going to be a good one.
Our Chairman's programme notes were about a chat he had with Al Qadi the other week, saying that Al Qadi backed him over the thing that it's normal for a wealthy investor to stay anonymous while discussion potential investment.

Of course the difference between Al Qadi and our 'billionaire' is that...
1) Al Qadi didn't take a whole year to mull over the idea of buying Rovers
2) Al Qadi isn't fictional.

We've been a decent team in knockout competitions this season, and the playoffs are a sort of knockout competition. Still unlikely we'll get promoted, but should we make the playoffs we've as much chance as anyone. We've already knocked Plimuff out of the FA Cup this season (granted they beat us twice in the league), Taken four points off Accrington.

Any advance on your mysterious billionaire? Last I saw was your chairman insisting he existed and was still interested. I have to question what is the hold up after a year and why your chairman isn't happy to sell yet?

It's a ridiculous situation, I don't think anybody outside the holding company's boardroom seriously believes that there is any mystery billionaire, the whole thing was implausible on the face of it and became less credible as time dragged on.

The only question remaining in my eyes is why the owners still believe there is a billionaire just on the back of occasional meetings with some person claiming to represent said billionaire. The owners have been given a name, but just having a name of a real billionaire is no proof they're actually interested if they won't make direct contact so either they been fooled repeatedly and astonishingly over the course of an entire year, or they were fooled briefly and everything else has been them trying to save face by concealing the fact they got stitched up.

Another possibility is that they're in on some shady deal, but nobody has suggested that seriously, I don't personally think they are, they've been accused of incompetence and nepotism over the years, but genuinely don't seem to be in this for their own benefit over that of the club. If they were trying to cover their tracks then making new claims they'd heard from the billionaire's agent after months of nothing would be a bit silly, surely you'd just say as soon as you realised you'd been fooled that the investor lost interest and you hadn't heard anything more from him, so it genuinely seems like they've been taken for the biggest ride in football.

Our owner is apparently a billionaire and has spent god knows how much in wages and transfer fees since he has been here.

1 relegation and a £4.5million yearly loss is all he has to show for it. The fucking wanker. :ffs::lac:

All in our hands and we have on paper an easy set of fixtures. Sadly these are the games we always lose. Going to the wire this one.

Big set of results for us today, 2 more wins could do it, 3 would make it almost cerain.

Will be a near sellout for Luton, 3 points there would be massive

Hope Accy keep up their form and get promotion

Wimbledon are 7th with a game in hand on the teams below them and they have a much superior goal difference. So I think it makes sense to say that they are the most worthy club of making that last play off spot more than the others who claim to be challenging for them but at the same time believe that they are too shit to actually be in the play offs.

Exeter are on a good run of form but they haven't exactly beat anyone good I don't think.

We've been through this before but given the position they're in now, if Wimbledon don't make the play-offs then they fucked it up and will therefore be less worthy of a play-off place than whoever does finish 7th. I don't think we'd be sat here saying, well Wimbledon deserved a play-off place more than whoever finished 7th in any case. Fact is that anyone who might finish 7th will be one of the worst teams to get into the play-offs in recent history (so Sod's law says, they will win the play-offs)

Interesting set of results yesterday and we can now overtake Plymouth if we beat them on Saturday. If we win all of our remaining games we should overtake Bristol Rovers too due to our superior goal difference but that's unlikely.

Just gotta hope that the other teams above us fuck up somewhere down the line and we continue this winning run.
