That was an Adam Murray 11.... i fancy us against anyone now.

COYS

ORLY?

As soon as you start getting players playing well they will leave quickly in the summer because you're club will never go higher than L2.

That is so unlike Carver to post such a provocative comment, I'm sure none of these Mansfield lot will bite.....

Jones keeps talking about chasing Carlisle and the automatic promotion spots but I can genuinely see us just quietly sliding down and out of the playoffs as the season goes on. Lots of other teams putting a string of results together, Mansfield the latest in doing so, whereas we win 1 and have little run of 3/4 games undefeated with a draw or so mixed in and then lose one have a draw or so in the next and then repeat cycle again. Just never any consistency from us ever since our good start at the beginning of the season.

We show absolutely no sign of putting a string of results together to really nail down a play off place. Might take until right until the end of the season but I think that will come back and bite us eventually, and when push comes to shove and we have to win one to get into the play offs, I wouldn't expect us to win it either given how we never seem to win games that we need to.

Just to have hope that Portsmouth match us for inconsistency I think.

They started it, they're being big headed and delusional.

You were like that at the beginning of the season, before a ball was kicked.

Apparently our squads flying out to Spain tomorrow for some warm weather training!?

Hopefully they recharge their batteries without coming back in 'holiday mode'

Interesting idea. Doubt they'd get much practice done here given the deluge of rain. Think I'll be getting the ferry to Home Park next week!

Exeter v Carlisle on the last day of the season could potentially be massive.

I know doesn't it, after todays win and our new players having good first impressions, I'm starting to feel more optimistic for the rest of the season!

Last season we made no signings during January and we ended up dragging the season out but with this new fresh looking team we could go all the way. :)

Funny thing is, when we beat them at Brunton Park and they dropped to the foot of the table, they looked a bit done for (albeit were more than a match for us on the day). I thought there was a possibility on the final day of us sending them down a division yet again.

So many missed opportunities this week. I can't see us crawling our way into that top 3, because when we have the chance to, we never capitalise. This season can easily be another missed chance.

Luton v Portsmouth play off final anyone? That would be an epic final. And probably a sell out or close to it.

We've rung the doorbell but the battery seems to have been taken out.

We've looked through the letterbox and all of your jackets are hung up, suggesting that you're all in.

We've peered through the window and the telly is on and we're sure that there was movement from behind the sofa.

We've spoken to the neighbours and they assure us that you're in; and some of you have been inside Play-off House for such a long time.

It's as though visitors might not be welcome. Perhaps we'll try again in a couple of weeks. We'll bring a case of cheap cider, see if it'll tempt one of you to open the door.

You had a chance to sneak when in when Crewe left, just every time the door's open, someone barges past you in and into the house. Don't worry though, even if you don't make it in at least you won't suffer the hangover,

I have a feeling should we not make the party this season, we'll have a good enjoyable party next season.

Going to wait before we actually play a decent side before I get carried away. 6 points from Cambridge and Barnet away though is impressive. We are a different side to the one that we had at the end of December. Ben Whiteman looks an absolutley class find from Evans. Him and Byrom have both been outstanding in the middle together.

Our run in isn't kind. Pompey, Doncaster, Exeter, Wycombe and Luton all in April. Even if we don't make it we have reason to be excited for the next few seasons, Something we've not had since 2004.

You'll be 12th by then so not really.

You thinking everything is fine as fiddle sticks up at the top there?

Maybe it is, that means your team can take their foot off the gas a bit now and cruise to a nice and easy promotion and not have to worry about the teams below. ;)

I think we've out-stayed our welcome in the Play-off House. We've been stumbling around, spilling drinks and drunkenly cornering people so that we can bore them with stories about what a big deal we used to be. There have been a few complaints and the bouncers are moving in on us.

I find it funny because for every season you've been down here I'm sure you have always been tipped to be Champions purely because of the fact you're the biggest club.

People are like "Hmm L2, who's in this league? Oh Portsmouth are the biggest club by far, so therefore they will be the best team".

It was funny then but this season I actually thought you would be right up there because you made some quality signings to add to an already good set of players.

So what's the problem? Is it the manager?

If I only knew the answer Carver. The "it's hard to change a losing habit" excuse that we used for the first couple of seasons down here can no longer be applied. It's a combination of things really - some tactical (e.g. home tactics that are too conservative) - some transfer market errors (e.g lack of a striker that can get anywhere near the top-scorers charts) plus players and staff that find it hard to handle the heavy weight of expectation from always being pre-season faves. Take your pick.

Sounds to me like it comes down to the manager.

You may well be right. The board have invested too much in him to jettison him this season, with us still having an outside chance. However, if we don't go up then he is almost certainly out and off we go again. No doubt the bookies will have us as an attractive 4/6 to go up next season :bl:

There's this bloke called Steve Bleasdale who managed Peterborough for a time and did a decent job, he's available.

Of all the things you can say about Steve Bleasdale, "he's available" is definitely one.

I still think we can do it. Promising signs from Doyle + Lowe on Saturday, despite the result.

I'll trust your judgment, Bucket. I wasn't at the game Saturday so it's difficult to get a good idea of the performance from all the anguish and soundbites.

Looking at the fixtures, we seem to be coming into a run of games where plenty of points are available if we can get our act together. Of the teams currently above us we've already played Doncaster, Exeter, Luton and Wycombe twice. Of the other two we have Carlisle away and Plymouth at home.....aaaghh....no no no.....look what you've done.... you've given me hope again! :hb:
