IDS stated that the campaign to find out how many had died from his benefit cuts was disgusting....

Bear in mind that this is the government trying to bring in the snoopers charter "If you have nothing to hide you have nothing to worry about". Two faced bastards.

Yeah, Ian, we don't want anyone to think about consequences now, do we?

Saying int he papers this morning the Government is trying to change the levels it takes to be called a child in poverty because they want to reduce the stats showing how many children are currently in poverty as its gone up in their term.

how about dealing with the issue than trying to change the stat
Because dealing with child poverty would require a shred of compassion , empathy and willingness to take decisions which would help the poorest . None of these things are high up in Tory thinking .

So the first breaks on the development of rail are being put on, mainly effecting the Midlands/North. Expect more promises broken in terms of the North, the Tories will seek satisfy their southern heartlands and that is all.

why does EVERYTHING in England seem to always end up going well over budget and never to plan.

seems to be ok in other places, just as soon as it hits England we seem to be complete incompetent morons who cannot plan b*gger all properly.

Anyone want to read a story about the government's plans to give a LEA school to some of their friends? This is a long way from impartial, but I think it's an interesting read. https://storify.com/LynseyAnneWhite/future-of-the-hewett-consultation-or-insulting-con

I haven't read the article so it might be mentioned in there but I was happy to see Clive Lewis make a speech about this in parliament. The amount of land Hewett has that would just be given to Inspiration is obscene. I've seen estimates that the land is worth anything up to £60m and it is just going to be given to them for free with no real opportunity for the city to oppose it. It seems they want every school in Norfolk to be run by the Inspiration Trust or the Ormiston Trust.

It's probably not an accident. It's probably government figures giving their mates contracts in exchange for side jobs or public speaking gigs.

Clive Lewis was mentioned, I was pleased about him speaking about it too. As far as I can tell, pretty much everyone - students, teachers, parents, governors, Norfolk CC - is against this, but they're just being ignored. And then Nicky Morgan comes out and says that she wants to 'sweep away bureaucracy' that's preventing academy conversion, which basically seems to mean ignoring people who oppose it.

I agree with what you say about the Inspiration Trust as well, they've only existed since 2012 but they now control 12 schools. It feels like they're a predator, just waiting to pounce on any school that's struggling, and no one wants to stop them. The whole thing last year about them being warned in advance about Ofsted reeked of corruption, and this is just as bad.

It's not just England. Large scale projects go over budget all over the place.

These were literally the first two major projects to pop into my head.

How they got away with the Ofsted thing is unbelievable. It couldn't have been any more obvious what they did. And they get off because D'Souza is Gove's friend.

Here's a tweet from Mr Osborne from before the election.

Labour has let down the North before and an Ed Miliband govt propped up by the SNP would do it again, cancelling key transport projects

I knew it wouldn't take long to attack the sick and disabled, no matter what you think of Clegg at least he held Iain Duncan-Smith back from savage and cruel cuts on us when he was in coalition. I'm very worried right now for myself and everyone else too ill or disabled to work.

Jesus fucking christ.

It describes the Employment and Support Allowance as a "passive" benefit which does not "incentivise" people to find a job

As someone on reddit commented:

"All the evidence tells us that sick and disabled people aren't trying hard enough to not be sick and disabled any more. We're going to make it harder for them to be sick and disabled, so they don't want to be sick and disabled."
Fucking lunacy

They have to be careful or they will be ran out of government again in a couple of years, but it was my big worry giving them a 2nd term they will cut too deep in areas they should not.

a problem losing the Lib Dems is the radical right-wingers get their say.

I "enjoyed" this line too: 'It says removing the £30 top-up for WRAG claimants would give people less reason to worry that they were getting the "wrong" outcome from their assessment.'
People won't have to worry about whether they might have been screwed over - they'll know it.

BBC reporting that they're planning to make people in receipt of full housing benefit pay some of their rent. Sorry but I can't post a link because I'm posting this from my phone and I don't know how to copy and paste links on it

Should Jeremy Hunt be wearing an NHS badge on the BBC? Are you allowed to advertise stuff you're selling?

How are people on full housing benefit going to pay contributions to their rent ? With most of the people I've met and worked with recently that are in receipt of benefits there is literally no wriggle room , no excess , nothing spare . I volunteer with shelter in bristol when I can and their conservative estimates for homelessness in the city is circa 2500 whereas the govt estimates around about 350 . There is real crisis brewing .

a problem losing the Lib Dems is the radical right-wingers get their say.

They never thought they would get a majority and were relying on being able to blame the Libs.

Look at the Human Rights Act farce. They knew full well that it was impossible to do when a member of the EU and also in relation to the good Friday agreement. But the anti 'Yooman Rites' rhetoric from their buddies in the press over the last few years - the bullshit about not being deported because they have a cat and the like - has been powerful tool. It won them a lot of votes based on a policy they never thought they would have to act on and has since been shelved.

They either believed the lib dems would be a convenient brake or lied through their teeth.

In addition to this they were considering stopping housing benefit for people under 25. What with all this and giving tenants the opportunity to buy housing association social housing stock it seems they're he'll bent on making more people homeless. I'll attempt to post the link about housing benefit.

So what are under 25's meant to do ? There is a massive issue with youth homelessness and it's really hard to make progress because govt stats currently don't include people in hostels or " sofa surfing " . There are a lot of good people working in council services but it seems that austerity budget cuts have tied their hands and basic , practical care for the poorest in our society is being left to charity's and churches . Shelter and others will do their best but fucking hell , sometimes it feels like you are constantly head butting a wall .

What are under 25s supposed to do? Stay with or move back to their parents I'd assume. If they don't have a support network then they can live on the streets. It seems to me that this government is comprehensively committed to the kind of social Darwinism that Herbert Spencer advocated.

It's fucking vile , we are going to lose a whole generation in this country . You know what the saddest thing is ? There are kids that have all the creativity and business nous in the world but because they come from the shitest background with Absolutley fuck all, there is literally no chance . Sending abused kids back to live with their abusers ? :10:. It's so frustrating because ultimately it wouldn't takd a massive amount of investment to secure proper accomodation for young people and the benefit to society would be huge .
